Im just testing a new format of writing.
Just a simple one-shot that I've been thinking about for a while now. If you're following me in FFn no, I'm not going to make this like becoming President, a one-shot that became a multiple-part series. I have too many stories in my hand right now.
If you want to have this fanfiction as a template for your fanfiction go ahead under one condition: when the first chapter is dropped I want you to link me to the story. Cuz' I want to read it.
Without further ado, enjoy.
Armin Arlet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eldia sat in his chair, writing his proposal for this year's governmental expenditure. It's been 34 years since the rumbling and yet the queen still always appoints him to become the head of administration. His hair is greying, wrinkles can be seen on his face. He is 64 years old and yet he looks 70. This job stresses him out; it's always been his dream to pass on the mantle to someone else. The question is to who?
He pushed that recurring thought in the back of his mind that emerged when he held his first grandchildren. He was almost late to see his daughter on the day of her birthing his grandson. Annie was livid when that happened. He smiled at the memory of his wife berating him with those silent stares. The family photo on his desk had to be reshot again with the addition of the new member.
Taking another file on his ever-growing stack of papers he read out the newest law being proposed in the house of commons. What Armin read baffled him; the regulatory law that was pushed forward by the Greens Party appalled him. 'A restriction on how many children the citizenry can have. Is the Greens Party getting insane over self-guilt? That they want to reduce Eldia's population for atonement?' What Eldia needs more than ever is people. Our island; Liberio and its surrounding land are sparsely populated. This bill would only tip the balance of power that he has made, more in favor of the Allied Nation. Even if Eren has reduced the world population to 20 percent with the rumbling, barring the Eldia islander. They still outnumber us 20 to 1.
Three parties control the House of Commons. The moderate is the largest. The party where Armin gets his main support from. Consisted of the old guard. The one who has tasted war. Making it their top priority to avoid any large-scale conventional conflict in the world. Yet their ranks are thinning. Two major parties appeared from the younger population. Taking most of their influence.
The one who has the most popular support out of the two, is the Jaegerist. Adopting an Eldia first policy. They're main concern is a paranoia that the world will take revenge for what we have done to the rest of the world. Their paranoia is far enough to support the Shiganshina Project researching weapons of mass destruction to be adopted. So that Eldia will never be invaded.
The Eldia justice party or the public likes to call them the Greens because of their banner. Is full of people [young people] that have a complex of moral superiority. Seeing Eldia and its people to be guilty of the suffering people beyond the ocean have felt. Mainly consisted of middle-class urbanites that are well educated. They reminded him too much of Zeke. Captain Levi would hate them if he were alive.
Both of these parties are always tugging for more control of the house. Each year trying to maintain the peaceful status quo is getting harder and harder. They're like school children, both of them. If only this was the military. Armin could give them the hell march every fucking day.
Letting out a frustrated sigh which he guaranteed he always let out every day because of the stress this job entails. From listening to the kingdom's high nobility demanding Armin to give them more power to sitting on the house of commons hoping that healthcare filibuster is broken by just one opposition party member.
'Why do I have to be the first choice for prime minister? Damn you Historia,' Armin cursed the Queen and his friend, not caring about the consequences. What's to worry about? They removed the lese majeste act 10 years ago with the support of Historia.
After the rumbling Eldia and the allied nation made a treaty to make peace with each other. Being trusted by both entities because of his role in the second great titan war. Armin was chosen to be the middleman for the peace talks. His popularity in the whole world exploded because of it. They called him Armin the Conciliator. When Queen Historia announced her intention to make a semi-constitutional government for the country. He was the first pick by the majesty herself to become the first Prime Minister of Eldia.
With the intention of peace, Armin made the world economic zone or W.O.N. in partnership with Onyankopon and Lady Kiyomi to lead the reconstruction effort on a world scale. To unite the whole world to prevent another major war. At first, it was about steel and coal as both of those resources are the lifeblood of our economy. Integrating our economy more and more until the notion of war becomes unprofitable to anyone. Over time it turns into food and medicine. Unfortunately, that's the only thing Armin can do right now, as old and new wounds haven't healed.
Ports and railways were constructed across the whole continent from the personal coffers of Eldia and the surviving nations. There was resistance and still is. The people that were on the mainland have their hatred for anything that resembles the Eldian islander. Even Eldian from the main continent united against us with others disgruntled survivors; formed some sort of bond with the rest of the survivors of the rumbling, making a new identity that is centered around suffering and victimhood for the whole world that Eldia has committed.
Being the only industrial center left that doesn't face food and material shortages made Eldia into an industrial powerhouse. The job of reconstructing the world from ruins is hard but easy with the help of Lady Kiyomi and Onyankopon. Both of them held positions of power with the collaboration of the three of them. The world is heading to a better future. Onyankopon had been elected to be the 2nd president of the Allied Nation and Lady Kiyomi still had connections on the southern side of Hizuru that survived the rumbling.
Then things started to fall apart. Lady Kiyomi died because of natural causes and Onyankopon is on his term limit. Forcing him to retire from having any sort of position that will help me to rebuild the world. Their replacement is hell to deal with, their hatred for Eldia never subsided even after the effort Armin made for peace. Every letter sent. Every talk. Every conference will always end on a sour note.
The responsibility that was previously split among three competent and cooperating people now falls to armin alone to handle. Armin needs help, but he can't find anyone to help him. Jean wants a peaceful life, same for Mikasa. After all of the things they've faced, they deserve it. Now they live in the cities taking care of their grandchildren and spoiling them rotten. Connie is a military man through and through, politics are not his forte. While Reiner… May his soul rest in peace. He was never in a sound mind after the rumbling, remembering the day Reiner sniffed Historia's letter made him cringe. Alcoholism caught up to him.
The door was open with a creak revealing a woman in his late 20s wearing a white blouse, a long black skirt, and round white tinted glasses. A slight face of apprehension can be seen on her because of the nature of what she's going to tell Armin.
"Sir, the Jeagerist party leader is here to meet you." Armin rubbed his temple for the 3rd time this day. Her secretary just gave him the worst news imaginable.
"Tell Mr. Altdorf to wait for 5 minutes. I'm going to prepare myself first." Armin's secretary saluted him and left the office slowly closing the door.
Getting up from his seat he felt a crack in his back. "I'm getting too old for this job," Armin lamented. Tidying his desk Armin then washed his hands with white tissue cleaning it from dotted ink. Sitting on his chair again with extreme difficulty he waits for his guest to arrive.
The door opened with a bang! Altdorf went into his office with no etiquette whatsoever. A tall skinny man in his 40s with a heavy mustache. Wearing a simple black suit. He certainly grew to be something compared to when he was in Historia orphanage. He was a shy child back then.
"Mr. Altdorf. What made you think you can get into my office in such a brash manner? Didn't our queen teach you this when you were young?" Armin scolds him.
"I'm only following after my other role model Mr. Arlet, he always told me to be respectful to the ones who I respect," Altdorf said with a scowl. His hatred for Armin is clear to see.
"I am thankful that you look at my friend in such high regard…"
"You have no right to call him a friend, Betrayer!!" Altdorf said with barely contained anger.
"But. It is the past." Armin ignored Altdorf's rage. "Now get to the point why are you here ruining my work schedule? Or are you going to argue like the same child in the orphanage I've seen before?" Knowing what he's doing in front of Armin can't change anything to the Hardened politician, Altdorf calmed himself.
"The Allied Nation is strengthening their military. Their technological and industrial progress will match ours in the next decades or so. They're building military factories instead of commercial factories despite our… No, your effort to promote peace.
Don't you think it's suspicious that the A.N. is distancing itself from us. Trying their damn hardest to find alternative energy besides the gas on our island? I heard a rumor of a black liquid in the mid-east that has the same property but cruder in nature. If they manage to optimize the way of extracting and processing this newfound liquid called oil. Our last ace will be nulled. If that happens then In the next 20 or 30 years, we will find that the A.N. Will reduce their reliance on us!" Armin just listens carefully to what Altdorf is warning him.
"What is your point," Armin asked Altdorf, with him slightly irritated by Altdorf's rambling. He is trying to be patient with him despite his crazy talk on the radio and newspaper. Altdorf is a person that truly loves Eldia and the people of paradise.
"My point is why did you let them? Are you trying to be the next King Fritz?" an oppressive aura was felt in the room. Altdorf sees the image of the man that formerly held the power of the 9 titans.
"Careful son. I may always try to maintain an image of kindness and patience. But I also have my limit!" The woodworking on Armin's tables cracked. His hand gripped the table with fury. "The World is at peace. The day of paranoia and war has come to pass. There is no need for us to raise global tension with unnecessary militarization."
"Respectfully sir. That's because you are still alive! You! Are the only ones that kept the world from being at war. What do you think would happen when you and the old guard died because of old age? Even to this day from both sides of the aisle we still hate each ot.."
"I know!" Armin shouted, Shutting Altdorf from speaking. "I know. Do you think I didn't notice? With each passing day, my shoulder grows heavier. While I grow weaker. Every conference, every peace talk… I was seen as a ticking clock.
Yet I endured, I kept moving forward. There is only hell in the future. Beyond that hell is freedom. I've tried my hardest. Ensuring the chance that I gave to Humanity is worthwhile. That in every single person there is a right to attain freedom.
What would you need me to do? Do you want me to stave millions Mr. Altdorf? Because I can do that. I can be the monster that I was in the past. A monster that could kill tens of millions with just a flick of a pen. Do you want that to happen?" There was a silence in the room as Altdorf's hands were shaking.
"i-i." he clenched his mouth. "I don't know."
"The choice is easy when we just talk about the possibility. When confronted by it, that choice can tear you apart. I've seen it happen, child. I've seen it with my own eyes." Armin stood up from his seat and grabbed Altdorf's shoulder. "My vision can only see hell. Beyond that hell… is freedom."
"How do we reach beyond hell?" Altdorf asked Armin. "Tell me!"
"Like my friend told me before. The one who can see past it. Is the one who keeps moving forward. When we die we can only hope that the next generation will never forget the past. Learn from our mistakes," Armin advised Altdorf.
"And if they fail?"
"Then the bomb would start raining on us all."
Ooga Booga I'm stupid, bye.
