Christmas Advent

Chapter 2-December 2nd

Mike rushed home wondering what he would find. There was another package sitting on his doorstep; this time bigger and marker fragile. He opened it. There was only a post-it and a tree-topper. He read the note and shook his head.

"You'd probably better get a tree set up."

Mike was confused and mildly irritated, but the next day was Saturday. He had it off, but he wanted to stay home and catch whoever was leaving the gifts. He had already called all his friends. They weren't leaving the gifts and had not given his address to anyone. He had even sent the note from the day before to the lab to be checked out.

He put the tree topper in his living room, fixed a dinner and ate what was left of those cookies. They reminded him of cookies that Christine had made years before. Chocolate chunks, marshmallow and graham crackers in the cookies. They had been a favorite of his and ones that Christine had always made for him. But she had given her recipes out very liberally so anyone could have made them, or that was what he was telling himself. And the tree topper reminded him of one they had had years before when they were a young married couple who couldn't afford anything nicer.
