Chapter 5: First Day of the Hero Academia

In Principal Nezu's Office

Mario Peach and Luigi were sitting in front of Nezu with Tsukauchi and All Might in the room.

"First of all, I would like to thank you three for bringing our symbol of peace back to good health." Nezu said.

"Oh, it's-a no problem. By the way, how are you feeling Yagi?" Mario asked.

Toshinori was in his skinny form, but it was obvious he had put on some muscle and wasn't as skinny as before.

"I'm feeling great Mario, thanks for asking. Few more months of muscle building and I should be back to normal."

Toshinori Yagi then flexed a bit to show off his gains. Mario smiled to see his new friend feeling well until Nezu got everyone's attention.

"While that is all well and good, that is not the reason why I called you all hear. Mario, you recall the other power stars that scattered over Japan?" Nezu asked, receiving a nod from Mario. "Well we sent out four heroes out to retrieve them."

Nezu then laid out four pictures of the heroes that were sent to retrieve the power stars. One was a ninja, Edgeshot, the other was a man with a yellow visor and giant red wings on his back, Hawks, one was of a buff man with flames surrounding his body, Endeavor, and finally one was a tanned, female hero with an athletic build and rabbit like features, Mirko.

"Out of these four heroes only Hawks was able to retrieve a power star. Endeavor's and Edgeshot's missions were both unfortunate failures as, when they got to their locations, the power stars were nowhere to be found. However, Mirko's is the most distressing."

Everyone listened in as Nezu's tone was both serious and distressing.

"You see, she has been missing ever since she went to retrieve the power star. When police were sent with another hero to investigate they found no trace of her or the star. In addition they found evidence of a struggle. So, it's safe to say that whoever found that star first has either captured her or worse."

Mario grabbed Mirko's picture and then began to discuss something with Luigi and Peach. This drew in the heroes curiosity, until Mario spoke up.

"Did the police find anything else there, like a strange kind of energy?"

"Well, after they scanned the area there was trace amounts of some sort of energy signature. We are having our scientists scan it right now." Tsukauchi replied.

"Mario, do you know something about the person who might have captured Mirko and the star." Toshinori asked.

"Maybe, if it's who I think it is. Back in the universe before we came here one of our old enemies returned."

At that, Starlow began to project an image of Cursa from her star antennae. One in her cloak form and one in her possession form.

"This is Cursa, she is a dark celestial being who wants to spread her darkness and corruption throughout the universe. Now this cloak form is her weaker form, but still very powerful. And this form is when she has possessed a host and can access more of her power. The stronger the host the more power she has access to."

"So your saying that this Cursa has taken Mirko as her host and the power star." Toshinori asked.

"Yes, the more I look at her photo the more I'm convinced Mirko is the perfect host for Cursa in this world."

"Please explain Mario." Nezu asked.

"Well, first Cursa prefers female hosts. Second, according to your hero ranking Mirko is the sixth best hero in Japan, so she's strong which would be a benefit to Cursa. And finally Mirko has a rabbit like quirk giving her the appearance of a rabbit and Cursa loves rabbit themed things as evident by her mask."

"While this is still terrible, it is good to know that Mirko is still alive. Is there a chance of rescuing her from Cursa's control?"

"Yes, if we damage Cursa enough Mirko should be freed from her control." Mario explained.

"That's good to know." Toshinori said before Nezu spoke up.

"Indeed it is. We can't afford to lose one of our top heroes. Also, we can't let the public know about Cursa. So, for now we will just go with the story that Mirko has gone missing for now. Mario Luigi and Peach can I trust you to keep this secret."

All three of them agreed that it would be best if the general public did not know about Cursa.

"Thank you." Nezu said while bowing his head.

"Now Mario, do you have any idea as to where Cursa might be?" Toshinori asked.

"No clue unfortunately. But, we've beaten her twice already, so if I had to guess she's hiding. Biding her time, gathering her strength and watching us for the right moment to strike."

"Do you think she might be making alliances with some of the criminals in our world." Tsukauchi asked.

"I'd wouldn't be surprised if she did. In a world full of strange and powerful abilities she might be looking for the right one to get rid of me and my friends."

"Do you know if she could steal quirks Mario?" All Might asked with sudden concern.

"No, she couldn't do that before. But, with the power star almost anything is possible."

Mario's explanation brings a look of fear to Toshinori.

"Is something wrong Toshinori?" Peach asked.

"Years ago there was a villain who had the ability to steal and redistribute quirks as he pleased. He went by the name of his power, All For One. His influence grew rapidly and he ruled Japan from the shadows. That was until I stopped him. That battle was where I received my injury. If Cursa is able to imitate his power, she could use his name to gather a legion of villains under her."

Everyone sat in silence at this revelation. If Cursa did use All For One's name to build an army it could prove to be catastrophic if she infused them with the power of Darkmess. The night continued on with Mario Luigi and Peach giving detailed information on Cursa's abilities and tactics. They, also mentioned that some more friends might be showing up to help defeat Cursa.

The next day at the front of U.A.

Midoriya had arrived and was excited to begin his journey to being a hero. As he was about to walk in he heard a familiar voice calling out to him.

"Hey Midoriya." Midoriya turned to see Ochaco Uraraka running up to him.

"Uraraka, hey. Glad to see you made it."

"Yep, nice to see you to. So you nervous?"

"Yeah, but still, this is exciting."

"I know right? Come on." Uraraka said as she grabbed Midoriya's hand and pulled him inside.

They continued walking down the halls looking for their classroom. They found it when they reached a giant door that said 1-A on it.

"Whoa, do giants come to this school?" Midoriya said as he and Uraraka gazed upon the giant door.

When they entered the room they were greeted by the sight of two students arguing with each other.

"Take your feet off the desk right now! You're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property you creep!" A tall teen with blue hair and glasses said to Katsuki Bakugo while he moved one his arms like a robot.

"Geez, what happened to you. Did you're last school shove a stick up your ass or were you born with it?" Katsuki retorted with a grin.

"What!? Why you!?" The blue haired teen then took a deep breathe and calmed down. "It seems we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, let's start over. I'm Tenya Iida, from the Somei Private Academy." Iida said as he stretched out his hand to Bakugo.

"Somei huh? So you think you're better than me? I'm going to enjoy tearing you a new one." Bakugo's statement made Iida jump back a bit.

"You would attack me!? Your fellow student, are you sure you're in the right class?" Bakugo just scoffed and turned away.

That is when he noticed Midoriya with Uraraka at the front of the class. Everyone turned to look at where Bakugo was staring.

"Oh, hi, good morning." Midoriya said nervously.

"Good morning." Iida responded while walking up to Midoriya. "I am Tenya Iida from..."

"Yeah I know." Midoriya interrupted. "I'm Izuku Midoriya, nice to meet you."

"Midoriya." Iida said before he bowed to Midoriya. "You were able to determine that the test had other parameters besides combat. I bow to you as you are the superior student."

"No, I didn't know about the other parts of the exam." Midoriya said while waving his hands in a dismissive fashion.

"But, you got so many rescue points. Did you save those other students even when it didn't benefit you?"

"Of course, it's the right thing to do. Besides..." Midoriya then raised a his fist in an inspiring manner. "Isn't it a heroes job to rescue those in need?"

"Such a noble cause." Iida said while he bit his lip in shame and frustration. "To think I thought so low of you before. You truly are the superior student." Iida said as he bowed once again.

While Midoriya tried to get him to stop Uraraka spoke up.

"So, what do you think we're going to be doing today Midoriya? Do you think it's only going to be orientation? I wonder what our teacher is going to be like. I can't wait to meet everybody." She said while she was shaking her arms up and down in excitement.

Midoriya turned to answer her when he noticed a yellow sleeping bag behind her.

"Where did that come from?" Midoriya said while he bent down to open it.

"If you're just here to make friends then pack up and leave." A voice said from the bag before Midoriya could open it.

The zipper then went down, revealing a disheveled looking man with sleep deprived eyes staring back at them. He then took out a juice box and drank the whole thing in one gulp while all the students just stared at him with confusion.

"It took you eight seconds to shut up, that's not gonna cut it. Time is precious, rational students would understand that." The man said as he got up and out of the sleeping bag.

"Um, excuse me sir but who are you?" Midoriya asked.

"Hmm? Oh, I'm Shota Aizawa, your teacher." Aizawa replied.

"This guy is our teacher!" All the students said in unison.

"All right. Enough goofing around. Here, put these on and meet me at the training fields outside." Aizawa said as he pulled out some gym outfits from his sleeping bag.

Soon the class was outside in their gym attire while Aizawa got some equipment ready.

"Mister Aizawa, what about orientation? We're going to miss it." Uraraka complained.

"Listen, while at this school I can teach however I want. And I won't bother with useless stuff like that. So instead, we're going to have a quirk evaluation test. So I can get a grasp of your abilities and where you stand. Izuku Midoriya."

"Yes sir!" Midoriya responded while his body stiffened up.

"Catch." Aizawa threw a baseball at him. "Since you scored one hundred points in the entrance exam you'll go first."

"What! How could he have beaten me!?" Bakugo yelled.

"In combat points alone you nearly doubled his score Bakugo, but he made up for it in rescue points. Remember, there is more to being a hero than just beating the bad guys." Aizawa explained while Bakugo just scoffed and turned his head away.

"Rescue points just mean judges that don't know what the hell they're doing. I'll expose that damn nerds weakness during these tests." Bakugo thought while Midoriya went up to the throwing spot.

"Midoriya what was your farthest throw in junior high?" Aizawa asked.

"Oh, well, it was ten meters, probably." Midoriya answered while rubbing the back of his head.

Alright then, try throwing that ball with your quirk."

"Should I use twenty five percent? No, if I do I'll injure myself and make the rest of the tests harder. Twenty percent should be good enough." Midoriya thought as he activated One-For-All.

"Let's-a go!" Midoriya yelled as he threw the ball.

"Isn't that one of Mario's catchphrases?" Aizawa thought.

"Well sir, how did I do?" Midoriya asked.

Aizawa turned the device in his hands to reveal that Midoriya had reached a distance of seven hundred and five point three meters.

"Whoa, seven hundred and five meters. That's crazy." A teen with weird elbows said.

"I wanna go! This looks like fun!" A pink skinned girl said.

"Fun is it? You won't think it's fun when the person in last place gets expelled." Aizawa said threateningly.

Before anyone could say anything Bakugo charged at Midoriya with explosions already going off in his hand.

"Hey Deku! You better tell me how you did that or you're dead!" He yelled.

Before anyone could do anything Bakugo was caught by Aizawa's scarf.

"What the hell? Why is your scarf so strong? And what happened to my quirk?"

"My scarf is a special capture item made of a kevlar weave and I erased your quirk." Aizawa replied, his hair now standing up and his eyes glowing red.

That is when Midoriya spoke.

"Wait, now I remember. You're the underground hero who takes his enemies by surprise by erasing their quirks. Eraserhead."

"Midoriya get back in line, and as for you Bakugo." Aizawa then released Bakugo and returned his quirk. "Since you have so much energy, you can go next."

Bakugo took his place as he gave a glare towards Midoriya.

"I'll put some fire into this throw. I'll blow them all away, especially you Deku." Bakugo thought as he charged up his throw. "Now die!" He yelled as he threw the ball with an explosion.

"Die?" The rest of the students thought.

"Not bad." Aizawa said as he revealed Bakugo had thrown the ball seven hundred and five point two meters.

"No way, again?" The teen with weird elbows said.

"Man, those two are crazy strong." A teen with electric yellow hair said.

"Alright Bakugo get back in line. Next." Aizawa said to get everyone moving again.

"Point two! That means that he beat me. Damn it! Damn it!" Bakugo thought as he rejoined the other students.

"Excuse me, sir." A girl with earphone jacks on her ears spoke up. "You weren't being serious about expelling last place right?"

"No, I was being completely serious." Aizawa replied.

"But that's totally unfair!" A small boy with purple balls on his head yelled.

"The world is filled with unfairness. It's a hero's job to combat that unfairness. Go beyond your limits." Aizawa said while glaring at his class.

The rest of the throws went by uneventfully until Uraraka got a score of infinite by using her quirk to make the ball weightless.

The next test was the fifty meter dash. Midoriya and Bakugo took their places next to each other. At the sound of the starter pistol they both shot off. Bakugo using his explosions and Midoriya using twenty percent of One-For-All. Bakugo had gotten a time of 4.13 seconds while Midoriya got one of 4.26 seconds. Bakugo gave a grin towards Midoriya as they made their way back to let Iida and Tsuyu Asui, a girl with a frog quirk, go. Iida made a time of 3.04 seconds while Asui got one of 5.58 seconds.

"Well he's definitely in his element. But speed won't help him in everything." Aizawa commented.

Next was Ochaco Uraraka and Mashirao Ojiro, a boy with a tail quirk. At the shot of the pistol they went, Uraraka using her quirk to make her clothes weightless while Ojiro used his tail to propel himself. Ojiro scored a time of 5.49 seconds while Uraraka got one of 7.18 seconds. Next was Yuga Aoyama, a boy with a belly button laser, and Mina Ashido, a pink skinned girl who can secrete acid from her skin. When the pistol went off Yuga propelled himself with his laser and Mina was skating using the acid from the soles of her feet. But Aoyama stopped midway, letting Mina take the lead. Mina scored a time of 5.49 seconds while Aoyama got one of 5.51 seconds.

Next was the grip strength test. With twenty percent Midoriya was able to score 346 kilograms only being beaten by Mezu Shoji, a boy who has the power to duplicate any body part including his arms. Next was the standing long jump which Midoriya was easily able to clear thanks to One-For-All. Next was the side to side jumps and with that the tests were done.

"Alright then, I've ranked you all from best to worst on the scoreboard. You should have an understanding of where you stand. I'll just put up the whole list, it's not worth going over each individual score." Aizawa said as he pushed a button on the remote to project a holographic scoreboard.

Midoriya had ranked third overall, coming behind Shoto Todoroki and Katsuki Bakugo.

"Minoru Mineta!" Aizawa called out.

The small boy with purple balls began to shake in fear.

"You are expelled!" Everyone gasped, until Aizawa held up his finger. "If you don't show some improvement soon."

"Yes sir!" Mineta said, still shaking in fear.

"All right then, we're done. Make sure to pick up a syllabus from the classroom and go over it before tomorrow. That is all." Aizawa said as he walked away.

Later on as Midoriya was about to leave school he was approached by Uraraka and Iida.

"Hey Midoriya." Ochaco called out.

"Oh hey Uraraka and Iida."

"Nice to meet you again Midoriya." Iida said as he stuck his hand out for Midoriya.

"Likewise." Midoriya replied shaking Iida's hand.

"If you're heading for the bus station then we should all go together." Ochaco suggested receiving nods from Midoriya and Iida.

"Move it Deku!" Bakugo yelled as he walked by them while glaring at Midoriya.

"Why is he like that?" Ochaco asked.

"He's been like that since we were kids. We use to be friends but..." Midoriya then looked down with a saddened look as he remembered all the past bullying he went through since he was quirkless.

"Still, for such rude and uncouth behaviour from a student of U.A.." Iida said while adjusting his glasses.

"But why does he call you Deku?" Uraraka asked.

"It's a nickname he gave me when we were kids. He's used that name to make fun of me ever since." Midoriya explained.

"Well I think Deku would be a cool hero name." Uraraka said with a smile.

"Maybe." Midoriya said in contemplation.

The three chatted as they walked towards the bus station.

Later at the Beach near Midoriya's home.

Mario and Toshinori were on the beach watching the waves when Midoriya approached them.

"Hey All Might and Mister Mario." Midoriya called out as he walked up to them.

"Mario is just fine Midoriya." Mario said with a chuckle.

"Though it will be Mister Mario soon." Toshinori said confusing Midoriya. "Guess what young Midoriya. We're getting three new teachers at U.A.."

"Really? Who are they?" Midoriya asked.

"You're looking at him." Toshinori said while pointing towards Mario.

"Really!?" Midoriya asked in shock.

"Yep, though we're not full fledge teachers. Your principal asked me and my friends to help train you and your fellow classmates in rescue training, combat training and so on. So expect to see more of me soon." Mario said with a smile.

"That's great. I bet there is so much you could teach us."

Mario just nodded at Midoriya's enthusiasm before he turned back to the sea with a serious expression on his face.

"Is something wrong Mario?" Midoriya asked.

"Yeah, some old problems followed me from home." Mario said not turning to face Midoriya.

"Don't worry about it young Midoriya, just focus on school okay." Toshinori said before Midoriya could probe any further.

Midoriya nodded before he began to walk up the steps with Toshinori, but not before giving one last glance towards Mario.

"I wonder what kind of problems he's talking about. I hope Mario will be okay." Midoriya thought.
