Christmas Advent
Chapter 14-December 14th
Mike was not in a good mood due to the President not wanting to understand why it was important that a unit-which Danny was a part of-get home for Christmas. They were sitting in port, doing nothing but the President didn't want to give the order to allow them to spend Christmas at home with their families. Kara had stayed quiet but Mike knew, she really wanted Danny home.
Mike pulled in and looked at the large box on his porch. He unlocked the door and carried the box in. On top there was a note and inside the box was a record player and a vinyl record. It was Bing Crosby's "I'll Be Home for Christmas." Kind of an odd gift because Mike had never been a fan of Bing Crosby's so he read the note.
"I know this isn't your type of music. Its not even mine. But I love the message."
It had been years since Mike had listened to a vinyl record. He set it up and put the record on while he ate the provided dinner of chicken and dumplings and a piece of cherry cheesecake. The lyrics did have a message that he loved; not only for his situation but also for Danny and his unit's.
I'm dreaming tonight of a place I love
Even more than I usually do
And although I know it's a long road back
I promise you
I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents under the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
I'll be home for Christmas (I'll be home for Christmas)
You can count on me (you can count on me)
Please have snow (have snow) and mistletoe (yeah)
And presents under the tree (under the tree)
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
If only in my dreams
In my dreams, my dreams
My dreams
