As soon as he was out of their sight landed somewhere and turned into his pooka form. Sophie cuddled into his fur and he opened a tunnel. Without the need to fly, with a direct way like this, he delivered her fast. Too fast.
If he returns, even if he flies back, which does take more time then his tunnel, they would be suspicious.
He decided to fly, and take a small detour.
Jack landed in front of the renowned catacombs of Paris. More specifically the part human tourists aren't allowed to enter.
Deep under the city of love and lights, surrounded by the dead of the past, the Death-lings have their main lair. Out of sight from the Man in the Moon.
It also acts as a club for spirits that are somewhat outcasts. Ranging from Death-lings to seasonals with thankless jobs. Hurricane sprites, illness spreading nymphs and winter spirits like Jack. Hated for doing their job.
Jack, in his known form stepped into the main hall. He saw a few deathies manning a bar, and serving drinks.
On the bar was a woman, long hair and her dress looking very Victorian mixed with gothic elements. She turned around and said loudly, "Jack Frost, why didn't you tell me that the Man in the Moon choose you to be a new Guardian of Childhood?"
Jack rolled his eyes and she smirked. She intentionally spilled the beans to anyone in there.
"Mythra, for the spirit of secrets, you aren't secretive.", was all Jack said. He then told the others. "I explain another day, I don't have time for ever. And the Guardianhood is... temporary? Not sure if I stay. Also, I got news that you call me antisocial?"
"You always keep ya distance, Frosty.", said Mythra. She smirked, full well knowing why he keeps his distance.
"Like death, the moons word's are certain.", said a bartender. A Death-ling.
"And you Death-lings know... forget it.", replied Jack. "Just give me something without booze, I need to go soon."
"I make ya a milkshake, new recipe. Ya my lab rat for this mix.", replied the Death-ling. A different Death-ling was watching the bartender.
"Morty, that is more a smoothie that a milkshake.", he said. He then turned to Jack, "Why didn't you say the second part, 'We spirits don't die'?"
"That's because I killed the Sandman.", spoke Pitch, stepping into the bar form a shadow hall way. "I killed a guardian. The dark ages return."
The spirits froze. They haven't heard from Pitch in centuries. The weaker nymphs fled and the stronger spirits got their weapons ready.
Mythra was shocked and asked Jack, "Is it true?"
"Yes, I-I saw it happening."
As soon as Jack confirmed this, many sprites left.
"I ain't fighting the Nightmare king!", yelled one.
Pitch was enjoying the fear. It is one thing to scare children, but spirits is a different matter. They tend to not fear a thing, so if they flee at sight, it feels good out of principle.
But that was not the case for Jack. He took his staff and stepped in front of Pitch.
"What do you want?"
"I just want to talk."
The bartender gave Jack his shake and then just left, so did anyone else. Though, the Death-lings told Jack they will help when Pitch does something, they just need to help the other spirits. The only one who stayed with Jack and Pitch was Mythra.
"Ignore me, I just want to see the show.", spoke Mythra.
Jack rolled his eyes.
"What do you want to talk about, Pitch?"
Pitch sat down on a stool and said, "Why are you with the Guardians? Do you really think they care for you?"
"Sanderson did.", muttered Mythra.
Jack gave her a cold glare and told Pitch, "Why do you ask? I just want to get rid of you."
"Because Sanderson told you so?", Pitch inquired.
"He told me a lot about you.", replied Jack. "And Bunny told me what you did in the Golden Ages."
"Oh, you believe them. They manipulate you."
Out of Jack's hoodie came Baby Tooth. She flew into Pitch's face and chirped angrily. Mythra had to laugh, seeing such a small fluffy thing be so angry. Pitch grabbed her. Jack grabbed his staff, ready to fight.
"Let her go.", he said.
Pitch just replied, "You better go."
"He is right, Jack. It is getting late for your doing, the Guardians are already wondering where you are.", said Mythra. "And I sense Pitch did something that needs your attention."
"Happy Easter.", said Pitch before vanishing in a shadow, taking Baby Tooth with her.
Jack turned into his pooka form and left though a tunnel. The tunnel closed and a Viola. Mythra stood up and plucked the flower.
"What a pretty flower."
He came out of his tunnel and turned into his human form. He was in an Easter tunnel of Bunny and saw pure destruction. Easter eggs crushed everywhere. He was too late. He should have dealt with being suspiciously fast. Jack was such an idiot. He ran down the tunnel and came out at an egg search. A failing one. All the children didn't find a sole egg. He saw Bunny who was distraught, seeing that none of his eggs are there. He tries to apologize, but they just walk though him.
The other guardians were there as well.
Toothiana saw Jack. "Where have you been?! We needed you!"
"I-I-I'm sorry, I-"
He was interrupted by Bunny.
"Save the excuses, I know you didn't really care for this.", he said. "You only did anything because of Sandy. And with him gone, you have no reason."
"With Sandy gone, I even more have a reason!", argued Jack.
"Yet you were gone for so long.", replied Bunny.
Toothiana noted Baby Tooth is gone. "Jack, where is Baby Tooth?"
"Pitch has her.", replied Jack, "I ran into Pitch. That's why I took so long."
"Did you really? Run into Pitch?", inquired Bunny, "Or did you trade the fairy with him?"
"By the Moonlight, why would I do this?!", yelled Jack, "Not to mention, against what?"
"Well, ya lack your memory.", said Bunny, "You could have traded her against your teeth container. Your memories are more important to you than Easter."
"I don't have-"
Bunny attacked Jack, but he dodged, flying into the air.
"What the Moonlight?! Bunny!", yelled Jack.
"That watch. You have to have stolen it, give it to me!"
Instead of replying, Jack just fled. He can't loose the watch, it just feels wrong. He has no idea why he is so fixed to that watch, he just knows he is. Jack was flying as fast as the wind could carry him, the angry Pooka on his heels.
He had to get away. Away from Bunny. Away from them. It may ruin things more than they are already, but he has to get Bunny off his heels. He flew into the woods, deep enough to not harm the town. Bunny was still behind him, he could smell the older Pooka.
"I'm sorry but you leave me no choice."
Jack landed and slammed the end of his staff onto the ground, ice magic radiated from his magic and a blizzard came to be. It was a small blizzard, with the purpose that Bunny can't see Jack. When the white was thick as walls, he turned into his pooka form.
Jack muttered, "I', in this form quite often, the last few days."
He heard Bunny yell his surname.
"Frost! Frost! What are you doing?!"
His ice blue eyes met Bunny's green eyes. Bunny was just confused and taken by surprise. He was looking for Jack, but found a Pooka. He saw that this Pooka had a blank spot on one of his arms, shaped like a hand.
"This can't be real.", said Bunny to himself.
Jack just opened a tunnel and left, leaving Snowdrop flowers behind. The Blizzard stopped as abrupt as it started and Bunny just stared at the flowers.
He picked them up and stared at them, as if they aren't supposed to exist.
He returned and said, "I have no idea where Jack had gone, but I think I'm going crazy. That, or the rumors are true."
"What are you talking about?", asked North.
"I saw a white pooka."
AN: This chapter was so difficult to write.
If someone wonders why Mythra knew about Pitch's doing in the warren, let me explain. She knows everything secretive. Which includes the location and events of secret locations. The lairs of powerful spirits, which the Guardians fall under, count as such. Therefore, she knows everything going on in the warren.
