'Twas the night before Christmas
And all down Baker Street
No detective was stirring
On the chase with quick feet
He and the doctor were tucked in their beds
While downstairs the mice tucked in to shortbread
Mrs Hudson had baked it special that day
For her tenants to eat while she was away
The mice had a nibble, then saved the rest
For the two upstairs who loved it the best,
As Basil and Dawson were considerate guests
And knew Christmas Eve shortbread tasted the best!
