Thanks to checkinlove and anonymous on tumblr for the prompts that had to do with mistletoe! Hope you enjoy :)

"Why are people staring at us?"

Law looked around, perplexed. He and Nami had merely been engaged in an energetic discussion about the latest commemorative coin the rival navigator had managed to find at an antiques stall, before being stopped in their tracks, suddenly surrounded by strangers.

Fine, the last time that had happened, he had relocated half the market and she had singed the rest with quite a hefty bolt of lightning. But the blame was at least two-thirds hers, since she hadn't admitted to pickpocketing him after selling him the commemorative coin from the Jubilee Revery he had managed to track down.

This time, he had no idea what caused the sudden stop.

Penguin stood off to the side beside an amused-looking Nico Robin, a wide grin on his face. "You might want to look up," he said, nodding to something above.

The small bunch of bright green leaves hang above him, white berries winking in and out of sight as the sprig of mistletoe gently turned on its red ribbon.

Evergreens were a staple Law had grown up with: when you live on a winter island, you take what pops of colour you can. Back home, it had been holly and pine, but here Viscum albanum, a common medicinal herb, seemed to be in vogue. shook his head with a smile and tried to steer towards Penguin and Robin, but was stopped by a raised hand. The effect was somewhat lessened by the fact that the hand was approximately at the height of his bellybutton, but the determined snot-nosed face peeking out from under a wide brim made up for the owner's lack of physical stature.

"Can't leave yet, mister," the apparition said.

"Why not?" Law inquired, ignoring Penguin who by now was sniggering, shoulders shaking in mirth.

Nami huffed and tried to steer around him. A small child with a gap-toothed smile poked at her with a broom, keeping her trapped under the mistletoe. "Oh, no, miss! You can't go before you do it!"

"Do what?"

"Kiss him of course!" the child said gesturing towards Law, sounding shocked that someone didn't know what to do. "You're supposed to kiss when you meet under the mistletoe."

"Fine," she gritted out, giving Law a quick peck on the cheek.

"Noooo," the children complained, arms folding all around them. "A proper kiss!"

"Nothing for it," Law sighed, tugging Nami into his arms. Her surprise was evident as her hands came up to rest at his shoulders, keeping her balance.

The snowflakes gathering in her hair hadn't had time to melt, and then her citrusy scent was all around him and she was warm in his arms and her mouth opened a breath under his.

The quickest kiss in the world was followed by cheers around them and when Law opened his eyes, he saw a fetching blush paint Nami's cheeks, her eyelashes fluttering open.

She did have beautiful eyes, a warm chocolate brown with flecks of bronze, he noted absentmindedly. He hadn't noticed that before.

It was with reluctance he let her go, her sweetness slipping through his fingers as she turned away to join the a-waiting Penguin and Robin.

Who both had the gall to look pleased with themselves, Law noted with narrowed eyes.

If he could have torn his eyes from Nami's retreating form, he would have seen the mistletoe disappear into a flurry of petals, melting into the snow.
