Author's Note: Third day of NaruHina month has been really interesting thus far, and it I've been really liking all the different kinds of scenarios that fellow writers and artists have created. When it came to this particular story, I already knew in the back of my mind what I wanted for Naruto and Hinata in this particular setting and I hope ya'll are gonna love it too.

Cafe 'n Library

I sat there in front of the classroom with my head panted against the textbook on my desk. It was so mind-numbing... The thought of looking through this fat ugly book for forty minutes in class.. Who would've honestly wasted their time doing things like this? I just couldn't understand how anyone would've been so inthralled by what we were learning in class. What purpose was there for any of us to have understood the topics like this. It happened back in the past. Why should we let it affect what's going on now? It just seemed like a huge waste of time and resources. Was this ever gonna be prevalent in our day to day lives? None of this made any sense to me whatsoever. For a 13 year old boy at that.

My focus shifted towards the clock on the wall. The minute hand sat right behind the 12 and the hour hand sat on the three. A third hand moved at a miraculously slow rate.

Tick tock.

Tick tock.

Tick tock.

The constant clicks were all that rang through my head in agitation. How much longer did I need to wait before I could head to the school gym for some hoops. Especially since Sasuke and I planned to shoot hoops afterwards. Each passing second equated to that of an eternity towards my mind being flushed.

"AHHH! HOW MUCH LONGER DO I HAVE TO WAIT!" I bursted in annoyance with my hands scrunched against my head, "IT'S TAKING FOREVER!"

A voice yelled, "NARUTO KEEP IT DOWN!"

I turned to see the scowl look on Iruka Sensei's face. Out of all the ones that have come my way, he was the one that bothered me, but also one I couldn't stay mad at either. It was then, when the bell rang, and I couldn't have been any happier.

"ALRIGHT!" I shouted in high relief as most of the students made their way out the door, "I can be free from this!" until my attention caught wind of Iruka sensei's fake cough, "You can't stop me now can you?"

Iruka sensei didn't utter a single word. He only used his hand gesture as a way to say... Come right this way.

"What do you want this time, Iruka Sensei?" I sighed before he flipped his laptop over to my direction., "Huh?"

A list of students popped up with a set of numbers set next to them. Above the number showcased the word. GRADES.

"What do you gotta show that for... I'm barely passing the class with a seventy..." my sentence came to a stop once I looked towards the average standings... "Wait... there's no way that's accurate, I know for sure it was at a seventy-three..."

Sensei pointed out, "It was seventy-three, but you missed one crucial assignment that was overdue as of last friday.."

I raised an eyebrow, "But I turned it in..."

"You mean this..." He showcased a piece of paper in the folder with my name on it and tons of sentences from the beginning of the page to the end, "Where you just wrote nonsensical gibberish that made little to no sense, and you ended it off with a sentence about ramen."

I shrugged my shoulders casually, "Oh come on Iruka sensei, you can't blame me for that one now especially when I was starving."

"That's no excuse for a paper like this to be accepted as a grade, Naruto..." Iruka sensei quickly took a deep breath, "I'll give you one chance to redo the whole paper from scratch."

I continued, "From scratch, but then..."

"Don't worry I took the liberty of informing Anko Sensei that you'd be stuck in the library finishing up this paper for the day with no exceptions." He answered confidently and drew out a couple sheets of notebook paper, "And I expect full citations on this with legitimate sources."

"That's probably gonna take a while then if I'm doing this by myself, and you already know how my speed is when it comes to research.." I explained it to my teacher.

He nodded calmly, "That's why I am assigning another student for both to work on this research paper together."

I blinked, "Another student?"

A soft spoken voice called out, "H-He's talking about me N-Naruto..." from a girl with lavender eyes and short purple hair who wore a simple pink t-shirt with a blue skirt.

"Hinata!" I answered instantly in shock, "What's going on?"

Iruka sensei calmly took a deep breath, "Hinata technically finished up her assignment last week, but she wanted to make a few revisions to bump up her score from an eight-nine point four to a ninety. So I'm giving her that opportunity to do so."

"I still don't get what that has to do with me?" I continued.

Iruka gave me the same glare that was expected, "It's like you said, if it was at your normal capacity... there'd be little to no success in your grades going up." and extended his hand to the other classmate, "So I figured pairing you up with Hinata would definitely improve your odds."

"That high of a chance, huh?" I left myself in wonder before I saw the way she twirled her fingers together, "Do you think that's possible, Hinata?"

She nodded happily with a drop of sweat, "O-Oh yeah.. It's certainly possible."

"Well in that case... " I snagged the extra papers from Iruka sensei's hand, "We should probably get going right away!"

Her cheeks glowed, "Absolutely!'

The Library was on the other side of the school opposite from where the cafeteria was. It had tons and tons of catalogs of books, comics, and especially a small sector from where a bunch of computers were set. I couldn't have been more than happy to have noticed a few empty spots for the both of us.

"Hey... umm.. Naruto?"" HInata pointed over to a stand behind the computer station, "Isn't that Sakura over there?"

I looked in the direction where she pointed out and there I saw Sakura pouring something into a few cups in the center for other students, "Woah, I think that is her and it seems like she's pouring out some hot chocolate..." What I didn't really expect was the expression of a girl's eyes being lit up in joy, "Hey I'll be right back."

"Oh...Okay!" She answered politely before I made it past the computer station.

There were a few students in front of me, but not a lot of time passed. In fact, the span of which it took really surprised me a lot. All it took was a matter of seconds before I was the next person in line.

"Hey there, Sakura, how's it going?" I waved casually.

Sakura blinked, "Naruto, I never thought I'd see you hanging out at the library after school."

"Well Iruka sensei wants me to rework my research paper for history because I more or less just damned my way through it without a thought..." I explained.

The pinked haired girl scratched the back of her head,"Wait... doesn't he know by now that you're not exactly the best at researching material on your own."

I continued, "He's fully aware of that which is why he thought it was best that I got assistance from someone."

"Oh, and who is the unfortunate fate to help my poor classmate out?" Sakura asked worryingly.

My hand directed towards the purple hair girl, "She's standing right over there..."

"Get out of here..." Sakura's jaw dropped instantaneously, "Hinata is the one who is helping you out!"

I moved my hand to the side, "Not even lying about this one, and plus it was easy for me to tell that she really wanted some hot chocolate..." then scratched the side of my cheek, "So you can that..."

"You wanted to grab a cup of hot chocolate for her..." She answered in a teasing manner and poked my shoulder, "Sounds to me like you're in a date..."

My eyes lid up when I looked back and reflected back on the situation, "What no way... Sakura.. It's just a study session..."

"Oh come on Naruto... It's totally a date!" Sakura passed two cups of hot chocolate towards my direction instantly, "Here, go ahead and enjoy yourself..."

I felt a sweat drop from the side of my forehead, "Sakura it's just..."

"You've got this my fellow knuckleheaded dummy!" Sakura answered ecstatically, "Don't keep her waiting now!"

"Alright, but just so you know it isn't a date!" I repeated.

Sakura waved happily, "It totally is!"

I would've walked back instantly, but the temperature of the hot chocolate made it kind of difficult. It was a top priority to ensure that the two cups of hot chocolate in my hands didn't have a single ounce of spill. Along with the words Sakura left in my ear from the teasing she just said momentarily. I was just lucky that the cups were in one piece once my careful side made it back to where Hinata stood.

"Sorry it took a bit for me, Hinata!" I passed her one of the cups of hot chocolate, "I stopped by to grab this for you!'

Not even a second passed when the purple haired girl's cheeks blushed, "T-Thank you Naruto, That... That's so kind of you!"

I gave her the cheeky smile and simultaneously scratched the back of my head, "It's not a problem at all."

Hinata continued, "Something seems to be troubling you, Naruto..."

"Oh it's nothing... Sakura is under the impression that we're in the middle of a date!" I answered awkwardly.

All of a sudden her entire face became bright pink, "a D-Date!"

"Do you think that's the case?" I asked.

"W-Well they sometimes say when a boy and a girl are spending time together... it can be considered as a date..." she answered awkwardly as steam emerged from the tip of her scalp, "But I think we should really get started on this..."

I nodded, "You're right... what's your research paper on anyway?"

Hinata said, "The moon deity Hamura... what about yours?"

"Mine was about the earth deity Hagoromoro!"

She continued, "You know they are both brothers right?"

"What no way?" I answered curiously, "I had no idea..."

Hinata nodded happily, "There's a whole ancient story about it, if you'd like for me share it with you for your research paper!"

"That would be amazing!"

I gotta say writing this story was actually a bit interesting with the whole study date trope, and there were a couple places I thought of as to where Naruto and Hinata could have their study date. It could've been at one of their places or at a fast food restaurant , but then the idea came to me... What if I just had them have their moment of budding romance at the school library, and it's something that kind came from my own personal experience during my middle school days. For the time being, that is pretty much all I've gotta say about this story and I will see you guys really soon. Until then everyone, I hope everyone has a great day, or night, and as always thank you all so much for reading everyone!
