Happy New Year to all! I have not managed to complete all these before the new year, despite my best intentions, but I'll hopefully have the last one out very soon.

Prompt from cjnwriter: Coded messages.

It was in the small things, like a secret code between the two of them.

He would make her a cup of tea when she was out of sorts, and she would slip a biscuit on his plate when he was unwell and bored with it.

She would 'accidentally' leave an extra blanket by the lounge on cold, wet nights, and he would check the locks on all her windows and doors every three months, without fail.

He would play her favourite violin piece for her anniversary, and she kept a set of sheets ever ready for the doctor's old bed.

Until the doctor appeared on her doorstep, dressed in black, eyes red, and her world came chasing down. For what use are coded messages without someone to share them with?
