Author's Notes: I'm gonna be absolutely real with everyone on this short story I wrote as honest as possible. It was one that I didn't exactly have any plans on when it came to either prompts and I almost thought "This might be the first day where I don't post a story." That was just moments until I began writing this story.
Cloudy Signs
It was a bright sunny day in Konoha. My Father, Naruto Uzumaki - The Seventh Hokage, and my mother, Hinata Hyuga-Uzumaki decided that the entire family should've gone out for a picnic to enjoy the scenery and feel the breeze with a lot of freshly grown fruits we had grown in the garden. The decision was more of a last minute deal since Himawari had asked about something like that for a while now. She even asked me "Do you think it would be a lot of fun, big brother?" and admittedly I didn't really have much to say on the matter, but I thought because it was for Himawari there was no way I could've said no. She meant a lot for our parents, and of course me. That last thing, I would've wanted is to let her down. The three of us had discussed it and we all knew how important this was. This was in the middle of the afternoon as we all looked up towards the sky with our backs resting against the grass.
"Hey, look over there!" Himawari pointed cheerfully to the clouds, "That one looks like a Lion."
My eyes lid up, "Woah you're right Hima that totally does look like a Lion, and that one right there..." I pointed over to another cloud, "Looks like a woman holding a scale."
"No kidding..." Dad reached his hand into the sky, "That one there looks like two fish circling around each other."
Mom's eyes blinked, "That one over there looks like its a ram, don't you think?"
Himawari laughed, "Yeah mommy, but those antlers look kinda weird."
"Haha they totally do look kind of weird." Dad bursted into laughter before his attention went to me and Hima, "What I'm just saying..."
Mom quickly giggled, "I can count myself in on that one, but they also look a little cute."
"I don't think cute would be the right explanation here, Mom. " I answered bluntly.
"Oh..." Dad blinked at my response, "Why do you say that, Boruto?"
"Is there something about the clouds that jump at you?" Mom asked.
Even Himawari jumped in, "Well, big brother?" as I stood there in silence.
"They kind of remind me of the images we learned in The Academy once... I think it was about Zodiac signs or something like that."
"Oh..." Himawari's eyes lid up in awe, "Those must be pretty cool, and if that's what those clouds are showing... it's really beautiful!"
Dad nodded cheerfully, "They really are, and most of all they hold a lot of deeper meaning behind it."
"They do?" Himawari answered curiously.
Mom smiled with a tap against Hima's cheek, "I wouldn't say it's that complex, but they are aspects that are tied to our lives when we were born."
"I'd love to hear about them!" She answered with a glistend remark.
I nonchalantly answered, "'I'd love to hear about them too.."
Dad looked directly at Mom, "They certainly are excited about this topic ya know, Hinata?"
She smiled directly back, "They sure are, Naruto, and I think we shouldn't keep them waiting any longer."
"You bet!" Dad gave her the cheeky remark mom always told us about that left her with a heartfelt smile.
Himawari and I laid there at ease when our parents began to share with us about the deeper meanings behind the zodiac signs.
I wish there was honestly a lot to say when it came to this particular short story, but maybe it'll be best to keep things short. Many of the stories I 've written for NH Month have been heavily centered around Naruto and Hinata and that could be said for the couple poems I've shared on here too. That's when I had the idea of writing this particular story with the zodiac sign in mind from a simplistic view except rather than tell the story from Naruto or Hinata's perspective, it would be told through Boruto's point of view. For the time being, that is pretty much all I've gotta say about this particular story and I will see you guys really soon. Until then everyone, I hope everyone has a great day, or night, and as always thank you all so much for reading everyone!
