Throughout the next Ravens game, there was something about Lucas that caught Callie's attention.
On the back of his jersey, his last name is nowhere to be found.
Callie can deduce this as Lucas symbolizing that he is separating himself from her dad and from Nathan. And for that, Callie has to respect that.
Towards the end of the game, Jake Jagielski, someone who Callie has had very pleasant interactions with at school, passes the ball over to Lucas. Lucas makes his shot as soon as the buzzer ends.
And Lucas makes it.
After finishing up the rest of that report, Callie heads out of the gym and is planning to attend the Burning Boat ceremony with Zach.
Getting up to the boat, she pulls out a picture from her pocket: a picture of her and her family from when she was younger.
There are times when Callie wants to go back into the past and revisit the times when her dad wasn't putting so much pressure onto Nathan and trying to live vicariously through him. She wants to go back to a time where her mom isn't working as much. She wants to go back to a time where she felt that Nathan was actually her brother.
At any first opportunity would Callie like to run away from Tree Hill, she would now jump at that.
She jumped a little at hands on her shoulders, but then quickly relaxed once she saw who it was through her peripherals.
"It's okay. You don't need them now. You have me." Zach reassures her, causing her to smile softly.
They turned to leave, locking hands. Callie looks up to the sky, seeing the stars that have been placed in the night sky. Unbeknownst to her, Zach would be glaring at whichever guy dares to place their eyes on the blonde girl next to him.
In Zach Hyde's eyes, Callie Scott needs protection, and he would be her knight in shining armor.
In contrast, the following day at school, it seems that Zach ignored her longing gaze as she was by her locker. She huffs out a sigh as she pulls out her stuff for AP Psychology.
She hears someone calling out her name and it was Marissa, one of the people on the school paper.
"I wanna run this title by you and see if it's okay with you. It's from the Wrestling event that happened two days ago." she tells her.
Callie peers over at the working title that says, Ravens Fly Down From Grace: Major Loss in Wrestling Against Huskies.
"No, that's good, Marissa." Callie tells her, who then responds with a beaming smile. "Great."
Before Marissa can leave, she turns around. "Oh, and if you can, can you give this to Lucas?" she asks Callie, giving her a slip of paper before actually leaving.
There is no doubt in her mind that it is Marissa's phone number.
"Yeah, that's not happening." Callie mutters before going to the nearest trash can and throwing it in there.
Unknown to Callie, there is a look of intrigue over in the brown eyes of Brandon Barnes, in which Tim Smith notices and whistles.
"The forbidden fruit, Callie Scott." Tim comments. "Hey, don't worry. I won't let Nathan know, and if Zach 'The Freak' Hyde knows, you might as well be six feet under." he adds in before leaving. Brandon just shoots him a harsh glare.
Yeah, it's very evident that he doesn't really like Tim.
Callie is in her AP Psychology class, and in the middle of it, her teacher assigns the groups for the group project.
"Alright, the following is your group. Yes, I did pick them out myself." he tells the students, causing all of them to groan.
If there is one thing in school that Callie detests more than anything, it is group projects. There has been an occasion or two where she had to pick up the slack from everyone in her group.
The teacher then assigns the pairs, and the teacher announces the pair that got her attention. "Callie and Brandon."
After the groups were assigned the bell rings. Callie is in the middle of putting her stuff away when Brandon comes up to her. He was about to speak up, but Callie beat him to the punch.
"Don't worry. I'll do all the work and you can just slap your name on it." Callie bluntly tells him as she leaves.
After school came her closing shift at the diner. It was like any normal shift, and she makes more tips than any usual employee because of her bright personality and hardworking nature.
On the drive home from work, her bright personality has soured quite a bit.
"What are you so pissed about?" Zach asks her. 'Who said that I was pissed?" Callie quips back.
"Jesus, Cal, now's not the time to be a smartass." he groans in which Callie rolls her eyes at.
They got up to her house.
"Seriously? Because I wouldn't notice you? The last time I checked, it was your idea to keep this relationship a secret." Zach deduces.
"Four people already know about us, Zach." Callie points out. "And that's four too many people." he mutters.
"Honestly, how much longer are we gonna be able to get away with this without someone catching on?" Callie asks.
"Cal, it's not a big fucking deal." Zach brushes off.
"It still kind of is when three of those people found out because you decided to make a show out of it." Callie again points out.
"You know what, get the fuck out of my car and you can just walk your ass to school tomorrow." Zach tells her. She gives him a short glare before leaving the car. As Zach is backing out of the driveway, Callie flips him the bird as he is driving away.
Callie storms into her house and makes her way up the stairs. She stopped going into her room when she noticed Nathan caught her.
"Where the hell were you?" Nathan asks.
"Working, so I can earn money to get a better future for myself." Callie simply responds.
"Look, Cal, if that asshole is…" Nathan is about to say, but she cuts him off, not in the mood to argue and void of any emotion. "I'm really not in the mood to argue with you, Nathan. Just leave me alone like you always have."
The following day, Callie is mentally preparing for her walk to school. She had just walked about a block away from her house when her brother's truck pulled up from beside her.
"Callie, get in the car." Nathan tells her. All he got from her was a wary glance.
But, alas, Nathan is persistent. "Cal, come on, I'm your brother." he states. Callie just sighs as she gets in the passenger seat.
So far, it was quiet. Nathan then takes the opportunity to speak up. "I thought Hyde was picking you up."
Callie just shakes her head. "We got into a fight." she simply responds.
Nathan already knew that. He looked outside of his window to see Callie flipping off the departing car.
He pulls up to Tree Hill High when he turns to her. "Hey, can I ask you something?"
"You just did." she points out.
"I signed up for tutoring. Do you know someone named Haley James?" Nathan asks her.
Callie just looks over at him with a serious look. Besides being the shoe-in for valedictorian of her class, Haley James is also known to be the best friend of Lucas, practically being a sister to him.
If someone were to ask Callie, she'll admit that she is quite jealous of Haley.
"Nate, I know you have some grudge against Lucas, but don't use Haley as a means to hurt him." Callie tells him as she leaves the truck.
When arriving at her AP Psychology class, she spots Brandon over by her desk.
"Hey, I just want you to know that I never intend on making you do the project." Brandon tells her.
Honestly, she has some apologizing to do as well. She was rather cold towards him.
"It's fine. And I would assume that it would be hypocritical if I don't apologize. I'll admit that I was rather bitchy." she confesses. "If you want to do the project, we can work on some of it over my break."
After her class, she felt some relief lifted off of her shoulders. She is gathering her stuff for her English class when she sees a folded up note in her locker. She reads the note,
Meet me. Room 113 - Mr. Trace is not here.
- Zach
So Callie did that. Callie knows that she shouldn't do that, but he is the only one that can see her for her, not as the younger sister of both Lucas and Nathan, not as the daughter of Dan Scott.
He sees Callie Scott for Callie Scott.
"I didn't expect you to show up." Zach tells her as she closes the door from behind her. "Me neither."
"I'm just gonna cut to the chase, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. You know I don't like it when we fight." Zach tells her.
In Callie's mind, she just added fuel to the fire by provoking her hotheaded boyfriend.
"No, I shouldn't provoke you." she counters as they share a hug.
"I will always love you, Calista Scott. You don't know how much you mean to me." he says, his breath fanning the top of her head.
Later after school, Callie has her shift over at the diner. The beeping on her watch calls for her break. As soon as she gets out from behind the counter, she spots Brandon sitting at the same table that he did last time with the brunette days ago.
"I honestly thought that you weren't going to show." Callie speaks up as she sits down from across from him.
"You think so little of me, Scott." Brandon replies with a smirk. She pulls out her AP Psychology binder and goes over the project.
Callie can go on record by saying that this is one of the more pleasant interactions with Brandon Barnes. She was a little disheartened once her watch went off, signaling that her break is over.
"Hey, are you planning on attending the Burning Boat?" Brandon asks as Callie stood up from the booth.
All Callie did was shrug. "Maybe. Maybe not." she simply replies as she gets back behind the counter and back to work.
At the Burning Boat, while being surrounded by Peyton, Nathan, and Tim, Brandon did in fact see Callie. However, a frown was evident when she was huddled in the corner with Zach.
That day at Sunshine Diner, it was really evident to Brandon Barnes how Callie Scott is different from her whole family.
REVIEWS!
Readingbeansprout: That is going to be one of the more interesting things that I will go into
Mariposa101: Thank you :). I am actually really intimidated about doing this story, if I were to be transparent.
CabbiLoverSAC32: Thank you :). The dynamic between Lucas and Callie is going to be an interesting one to delve into. Zach and Callie's toxic relationship is partly inspired by the relationship between Nate and Maddy in Euphoria, as well as Campbell and Elle in The Society. To answer your question, no, I have never seen an episode of The Fosters.
BrucasLove: Thank you for at least giving it a shot.
Brucas: I really love Naley and Jeyton. When it comes to Brucas, I honestly think that Lucas doesn't deserve Brooke.
Guest: The story will primarily follow the storyline that is shown in the show
seagee7: Here is the next update
