"Good morning everyone!" Calypso said "Please come to the rug, I have an announcement" All the kids ran to the rug and sat down. "I have some exciting news for you all," Calypso explained "In 3 days, we will have a new student!"
All the kids were squealing with excitement. Bluey thought for a moment 'I remember Bingo's best friend was a new student, so maybe this new student can be my best friend!' "What's the new student's name?" Mackenzie asked. "Her name is Penny, and she is a Papillon"
After school was over, Bluey was super excited for tomorrow. Bandit picked Bluey up from school today. "Dad, guess what?" Bluey asked. "What?" Bandit asked back. "In 3 days we get a new student," Bluey said "Her name is Penny and she's a Pap... Papalion?" "A Papillon" Bandit corrected her. "Yeah, a Papillon!" Bluey remembered. "That is some good news!" Bandit agreed.
The next few days Bluey was learning about Papillons. They have big ears, they have long hair, and the name 'Papillon' means 'Butterfly' in French.
The day had come very soon, Bluey was dropped off at school and walked into the classroom. She sat on the rug next to Chloe and Coco. "Are you excited for the new student, Bluey?" Chloe asked. "Of course!" Bluey shouted. "I'm excited to see how long her hair is," Coco said "I read that Papillons have long hair!"
"Ok class! Here is our new student!" Calypso said as a small dog walked into the class. She barely had hair, but the hair she did have was long and sticking out. She looked like the type of dog that is old and would be at a shelter, but she had a nice smile.
"Hi! My name is Penny!" Penny announced to the class. "Hi Penny!" The class shouted. "Penny, would you like to tell the class some things about yourself?" Calypso asked. "Sure! I am a Papillon. Im supposed to have long hair but I have cancer, so I have to take a medicine that makes my hair fall out a lot."
It was clear that Penny wasn't ashamed of her disease and hair loss, but nobody knew how to feel about it. Bluey was curious, she never heard of cancer before. Was it contagious? Was it temporary, or rare? Bluey was intrigued to learn more about her new friend.
