That next day at school, Bluey needed to fix her mistake as soon as she could. She kissed her dad goodbye then ran into the classroom to look for Penny. She checked the who classroom but she couldn't find Penny.
"Calypso, have you seen Penny today? I need to apologize" Bluey asked. "Hm, no I haven't seen Penny today, she must not be here today," Calypso said "But I am proud of you for thinking to apologize" Bluey was still feeling guilty but she just thought she'd be able to apologize tomorrow.
Week after week, Bluey searched for her friend but she never showed up again. Until one day, when Bluey was at her house, she noticed Penny's van had shown up at her house.
She got so excited and ran up to the van to see Penny. Penny's dad got out of the van, and he wasn't smiling like he was the first time. Bluey's smile faded when she noticed Penny wasn't in the van.
Bandit walked next to Bluey. "Penny's dad, where's Penny?" Bluey asked, worried. "She hasn't been at school in a while..." Bluey said.
"I'm afraid I have some terrible news..." Pierre said on the verge of tears. Bluey stared at Penny's dad with no expression at all, she remember the Veterinarian saying this when the little budgie had died, could it have happened to her new best friend too?
"Penny has passed away..." Pierre said, sadly. "Wh-what?" Bluey whispered. Bluey hugged Bandit tight and started crying. "That's how it is for some people," Bandit said "That's why I lost contact with my friend, she didn't make it through cancer, Bluey"
"She wasn't in so much pain that night in the hospital, but she did have a lot to say" Pierre mentioned. "What do you mean?" Bluey sniffled.
"When she was in the hospital, she wasn't crying because she was physically hurt, she was crying because she was mentally hurt," Pierre explained "She said you were mad at her and she will never get the chance to apologize"
Bluey tried to hold back her tears, but she couldn't. "I'm the one who needed to apologize, I'm so sorry" Bluey cried. "It's okay" Pierre said. "I wish there was a way to talk to her for the last time" Bluey said.
"To make it up for you, you can come to her funeral if it's ok with your dad" Pierre said. "Oh, can I dad?" Bluey said, still sounding sad. "I don't see why not" Bandit said with a little smile.
