after the fateful meeting between Yami and Kiyomi, both returned to their homes happy with the new friend they made that day.
When Yami returned to his house he continued his training with reinvigorated motivation.
another month has passed.
'man that last month was full of amazing growth' Yami thought to himself. he knew that training alone is not as good as training with another person, but he didn't expect it to be this much more fruitful!
only three months have passed since him being transmigrated to the naruto world and he had already grown that much!
Yami then remembered that he promised kiyomi that they would have a spar today. so after remembering that he quickly left to go to the designated place.
"why are you so late?" kiyomi asked when she saw that Yami finally arrived. "Sorry I forgot that today we were supposed to have a spar" Yami apologized trying to calm his breath from running all the way from his house to here.
"Fine I forgive you this time, but don't be late again! or else... " kiyomi warned.
"ok, now then shall we start," Yami said as he got into a fighting position. kiyomi only grinned before she also got into her stance.
a leaf fell signaling the start of the spar.
kiyomi immediately rushed forward before throwing a left hook. Yami observed carefully then he stepped back barely dodging the punch.
after more punches from kiyomi and dodging from Yami. "you can't be dodging all the time this is boring!" kiyomi said stopping to gather her breath.
" I agree, but be careful I will now be going on the offensive" just as Yami finished his sentence he threw a right punch toward kiyomi, seeing that she couldn't dodge kiyomi blocked the punch, then Yami threw a kick with his left foot, kiyomi dodged the attack, then threw a kick of her own.
Yami seeing the fast kick could only parry it, but after getting a good hold of kiyomi's foot he threw her to the ground, but before she hit the ground Yami threw a kick to her back.
"ouch!" Kiyomi said after feeling the impact of Yami's kick."I give up" Kiyomi grumbled, that kick had hurt her a lot she didn't feel like continuing the spar.
"That was a short spar" Yami said holding his knees, altho it was a short spar that took a lot out of him It seems like he need to improve his stamina.
"yeah..." kiyomi sighed, "don't be sad that you lost this was our first spar and there is a lot more to come" Yami said as he stretched his hand out to help kiyomi up, hearing that kiyomi's mood got a bit better.
after the spar, the two of the didn't feel like training so they just sat down, but then kiyomi suddenly said "hey Yami, I have a question".
"What is it?" Yami urged kiyomi to ask what was on her mind. "what's your dream?" kiyomi asked curious about her first friend's goal in life.
"my dream...my dream is to make a shinobi village that everyone respects!" Yami said as he looked into kiyomi's eyes, "What's yours" Yami then asked.
" my dream is to be a powerful shinobi and protect my loved ones!" kiyomi replied.
the two of them smiled then both said at the same time" well then let's help each other achieve those dreams!" they then looked at the beautiful sunset enjoying the comfortable silence, after some time the two said their goodbyes and returned to their homes.
three more months passed in the blink of an eye, as the two got stronger and their bond deepened.
'man I am excited for today' Yami thought to himself. this day was big for both Yami and kiyomi because they would both find out what's their chakra affinity.
they had already prepared for this day by buying chakra paper.
after arriving at their usual meeting place, Yami and kiyomi were both excited and wondering what affinities will they have. the question was who goes first?
"rock paper scissors?" kiyomi suggested, and with a nod, both got ready for the simple game.
"rock paper scissors, shoot!" the two shouted at the same time. Yami chose rock while kiyomi chose paper.
"looks like you'll be going first" Yami sighed, he wanted to go first but he lost fair and square.
kiyomi nodded her focus on the small white paper. then she carefully poured her chakra into the paper...
the paper split into three parts, one burned, one was cut into small pieces and the last one crackled with lightning.
"that's really good! lightning, fire, and wind!" Yami shouted out loud happy for kiyomi's good luck. kiyomi only smiled and said "it's your turn"
Yami nodded and did the same as kiyomi.

"fire, lightning, and earth we have two natures in common!" kiyomi cheered happy for the discovery, while Yami just grinned.
satisfied with today's discoveries the two went on their usual training regime.
'sadly we can't learn a lot of ninjutsu since this is just a small town that doesn't have ninjutsu scrolls and kiyomi also told me that she wouldn't train tomorrow and would just rest ' Yami thought to himself after departing with kiyomi to his home.
the next day
Yami arrived at his usual training spot, and as expected he didn't find kiyomi there remembering what she had said to him yesterday.
"man I am really bored of constantly doing the same training I want to do something different" just as Yami said that a leaf fell from a tree towards him. and then an idea popped up in his mind.
Yami sat down and then picked up the leaf 'I think it's about time I try chakra control' he thought to himself.
then he put the leaf on his forehead trying to make it stick to his forehead just by using his chakra, and after a few hours, he succeeded in that task.
' that was easier than I expected!' Yami thought surprised by how easy the exercise was. then to ramp up the difficulty he tried doing it with two leaves instead of one and after some failed tries he succeeded on his tenth one!
with a new goal in mind, Yami continued to train his chakra control by sticking multiple leaves on his forehead only using chakra.
one week passed and Yami already perfected the first chakra control exercise, of course, he taught it to kiyomi and she got it shortly after too!
but before going to tree walking Yami decided to improve his strength a bit more still knowing it was not enough for the hardships of the future.
more months passed, and for Yami, one year has passed since he transmigrated to the naruto world.
"I think it's time to leave for a while." Yami said to no one. Yami's and kiyomi's progress has slowed down considerably, So Yami is thinking of a way to make their progress faster. and he decides that it is best for him and kiyomi to leave this town and go face the danger outside to gain experience and grow even stronger!
'but I still have to tell kiyomi about this plan.' Yami reminded himself, then after getting dressed Yami went to kiyomi's house and knocked on the door.
kiyomi's house wasn't anything special it was a small home just like Yami's, but neither kiyomi nor Yami complained
"Coming." Yami heard kiyomi say.
after a few moments of waiting, the door opened to show kiyomi.
"Yami?! why are you here? today is a day off." Kiyomi asked.
then Yami told her about his plan, and after some thinking, she agreed to it and both agreed on meeting at 11A.M so that they have some time to prepare.
since they were going on a long journey, they took the kunai/shuriken holder and prepared food and water, and grabbed all their money.
after getting ready both showed up at the previously agreed time and then they set off on their journey.
after hours of walking through the forest, they decided it was time for them to rest. so they set up their camp and agreed on Yami guarding between 10P.M to 3A.M, kiyomi would guard from 4A.M to 9A.M then they would continue again.
nothing of note happened that night.
then at 9A.M sharp, they continued on their journey again with no particular destination in mind. they knew that was a foolish decision as they could lose track of the way to return to their homes, but they had that in mind and purchased a map before going out.
after more walking it was nighttime and Yami was guarding at that time.
Yami then heard the sound of someone no something approaching, his hand subconsciously grabbed a kunai and he went into a fighting stance, and just as he did that a wolf lashed out and attacked him with its right paw!
Yami quickly dodged and threw a shuriken aiming for the tiger's leg to immobilize it. but at the last second, the tiger narrowly dodged the attack and made his own by opening his mouth wide open aiming to bite the boy's head off! but seeing that Yami didn't do anything and stayed calm until the tiger was close enough so he used the two kunais he held and stabbed the approaching tiger in its eyes.
the tiger could only howl in pain before wildly swinging its paws, but Yami continued to dodge and as for what he couldn't dodge he blocked using a kunai. but then he found an approtiunty to end the fight and he took it as he went and stabbed the mad tiger in its soft stomach and his kunai easily pierced the tiger's stomach and protruded out of his back!
after a few moments of struggling the tiger died. seeing that Yami could only sigh and hide the body away.
kiyomi woke up from the commotion and rushed to check what happened after seeing Yami close to the corpse of a tiger she asked"what the hell happened here?"
Yami then explained the "fight".
"Yami you should rest. the fight must've been tiring." kiyomi advised Yami to go rest worrying for his well-being. Yami just shook his head already making up his mind to stay awake.
Seeing Yami disagree with her she just couldn't help but sigh, then she went back to sleep, she couldn't change Yami's mind when he insisted on anything.
in the morning they continued on their journey.
Fortunately, nothing dangerous happened in the days that followed.
the duo finally reached a checkpoint they marked on the map. it's the capital of Yugakure!
the two wandered in the city. gaping at the sights the whole way while they're walking.
they're just from a small town so they obviously haven't seen anything like now in their whole life!
soon the two found an affordable inn to stay at. the two entered their room and quickly fell asleep on the bed.
the next day the two woke up feeling fresh, it was their first time sleeping on a comfortable bed in a long time.
they decided to check out the Hotsprings that Yugakure was famous for.
they entered a Hotspring, and they felt the hot comfortable water they were so relaxed that they almost fell asleep! thankfully there were two separate Hotsprings, one for boys, and the other for girls so there were no awkward situations that happened.
after some time the two got out and started walking around the city, the streets weren't empty, but they also weren't full. so it was a perfect time for a picnic. Yami and kiyomi decided to have one seeing the nice weather.
after their picnic, the two did their training regime and then went back to the inn and ate dinner there, and slept for the night.
they stayed in the Yugakure's capital for a month before setting off again this time their destination being the capital of the land of hot water.
this time the journey wasn't as smooth as the former one, the first one was easy and fast because yugakure's shinobi eliminated dangerous wild animals near their borders. but this time there was no such luck, so the duo encountered a lot of dangerous animals and even some thugs but none were too strong so it wasn't a problem.
Yami and kiyomi set up camp in a good area. but immediately after setting camp, they heard some sounds coming from the bushes nearby "whoever is there come out now!" Yami called out.
then a middle-aged man walked out, he had black hair and brown eyes.
"It's impressive that you discovered me just from the little sound I made, but that doesn't matter kid because I am a chunin and if you don't hand over everything you have you will die!" the so-called chunin said.
Yami saw that the man wore a forehead protector with Yugakure's symbol on it, but he also noticed something else the forehead protector had a straight line going through it. he is a missing-nin!
seeing that both Yami and kiyomi narrowed their eyes.
"Well, how about no." both said not willing to give this man everything they had just because he was a shinobi, they weren't scaredy cats, and if they have to fight. Then so be it!
"Originally I was only going to spare you. but it looks like you want to die!" the chunin said then he shot out killing intent to scare the two "kids" but he was surprised when not only were they not scared, but also got into a fighting stance!
"last chance kids." the man warned.
Yami and kiyomi just looked each other in the eyes coming to an agreement that they wouldn't surrender their things to this man and that they would fight together and team up to defeat the missing-nin.
"well then don't say I didn't warn you!" the chunin said.
with that, the two sides stared at each other knowing that this battle would decide their fate.
