Chapter Two
"HAHAHAHA…I trained my goddaughter well!" Mitsuki Bakugo laughed loudly as she listened to her son recall the scene the blue haired teen had made before the practical exams.
Inko sighed before shaking her head with a resigned smile on her face. Katsuki looked at Izumi who just sighed. "I know you called it…no need to be smug Kaachan." She said not looking at him as she gently placed her cheek on the table.
Ochacho giggled slightly at the sight as she chewed on the best Katsudon she had ever tasted while Cutie sat nearby with Sunny, Blaze, a Chansey, a Blaziken, and an Ambipom at their own little table.
Ochacho hadn't really been surprised to learn that Inko is a nurse considering how much Izumi seemed to know about Pokémon health and nutrition.
The pair of healthy green haired women couldn't be confused for anything but mother and daughter. Both had fit body types, long green hair with Inko keeping it down her back while Izumi usually had hers in a bun, both had bright green eyes, however Izumi was the only one to have freckles on her cheeks in the shape of diamonds.
Both also had a slightly curvy figure not model like the ash blond adult at the table but cute. A part of her hadn't been surprised to see that Katsuki had a parent that was as loud as him, but the fact his father was a calm and gentle being did surprise her.
The fact that Masaru worked as a professional photographer for both humans and Pokémon was also a surprise. Since the job could be very stressful at times depending on the models and subject matter.
"So what are you looking to specialize in cheeks?" Ochacho blinked as she looked at Mitsuki.
"Cheeks?" She internally asked since her son had called her 'round face' earlier. A part of her once more wondering if she should feel insulted or not.
"Well…I plan on focusing mostly on being a trainer and probably dabbling in coordinating." She said after a moment, making Katsuki snort slightly.
"Considering how cutesy your partner is, I'm surprised you didn't only do contests." He said only to get slapped on the back of the head by his mother.
"BE POLITE BRAT SHE'S A GUEST!"
"HUH! YOU WANT TO GO HAG?!" He shouted back as the pair glared at one another with narrowed eyes.
Only for them to cry out when a ladle knocked the pair over the head. "OW!" They cried out glaring up to see a Mr. Mime standing there with a narrowed look while wearing an apron and holding said cooking utensil in a loose grip.
The pair glared for a moment before they looked away pouting slightly…not that either would ever admit it. "Sorry Mimmie." The pair grumbled making Mr. Mime nodded and moved off.
"So…who does that Pokémon belong to?" Ochacho asked Izumi who chuckled.
"My mom. She found him abandoned as a Mime Jr at the center she works at and adopted him. Since she isn't a battler he takes to helping her around the house with a few of the cores. He also helps her with unruly patients and guests at work…since he's had so much practice at it."
Izumi pointed to her Godmother and Godbrother, the pair ignoring her as they ate their Katsudon with extra hot sauce on it.
"Speaking of partners. Did you raise Cutie?" Inko asked Ochacho who nodded.
"Yes actually. My parents own a construction company and found her in an abandoned nest. The Nurse Joy there agreed to allow me to foster her." She explained making Inko nod.
"Did you raise any of your partners like Izumi and Katsuki?"
"No. Mimmie I adopted, but I didn't hatch him. Chansey I gained during my time in Nursing school. Also I went to school in the Gen Ed classes instead of the Pokémon fields. I don't like to battle, and modeling with Mitsuki was the closest I got to coordinating or showcasing."
"I still say you would've been great at it Inko, but I'll settle for having you appear in a rare magazine modeling my work." Mitsuki said, making the adult green haired woman blush.
"As for me I only raised Brawler over there." She said motioning towards the Blaziken at the table.
"The rest I gathered in my time traveling around during schooling days. Which I haven't done since settling down, having the brat, and opening my own business." Mitsuki said, getting a slight growl from her son.
Who didn't say a word when he saw Mimmie look back at him over his shoulder from the kitchen.
"What about you Mr. Bakugo?" Ochacho asked Masaru who took a moment to think about it before shaking his head no.
"Like Inko I wasn't in school to be a trainer, coordinator, or a showcase performer. I mostly just worked with Ambipom and my Noctowl out in the field when I was a traveling photographer, but like my wife I stopped traveling when I got married. Katsuki is the only one that has a strong desire to be a trainer."
"Not just a trainer old man! I'm gonna be number one!" Katsuki yelled, making his father chuckle slightly and nod. "So what about you Izumi?" Ochacho asked.
"Well, like Katsuki I want to be number one, but I also want to be Top Coordinator like Ryukyu." Izumi said, making Ochacho blink.
"You're a fan of Ryukyu?" She asked before motioning towards her cell phone with an All Might color scheme cover.
"I figured you were just a trainer and fan of All Might." Katsuki and Mitsuki snorted this time.
"Try a fan of every trainer and coordinator this side of the planet and even a few from the other regions." Katsuki said, making Izumi blush slightly.
"I'm not…" She tried only for Mitsuki to suddenly hold up a video primed on her phone with the image of a happy looking Izumi as a little kid.
"You wouldn't?" Izumi asked/begged in desperation.
"I'm your godmother…try me." The ash blond commented, making Izumi gulp.
"Now, now Mitsu…" Inko said, making everyone look towards her. "…no need to embarrass Izumi. Save that for the day she brings a date home." She commented, making Mitsuki think about it before nodding.
"Fair enough." After a few moments Izumi looked at her mother.
"I don't know if I should thank you…or curse you?"
"Thank me. After all, I plan to bring out the baby pictures when you bring your girlfriend here for the first time."
"Girlfriend?" Ochacho asked, suddenly causing the table to go stiff.
"Um…you didn't know?" Inko asked, looking embarrassed. Izumi sighed.
"I'm gay." She simply said before motioning towards a button on her jacket. It was round with orange, and pink lines with a white stripe down the middle.
"I…I thought you saw this." Izumi pointed out.
While it wasn't a pressing issue in Evangelion Region, occasionally Izumi faced denigration from others for her sexuality. However it hadn't stopped the green haired teen from being proud of who she is and the others from being protective.
Ochacho smiled as she lifted her backpack up showing off a few decorations. The one that had Izumi's attention was a button with a rainbow letter A on a field of black and white.
"I didn't share your sexuality, but I am your ally in all ways that matter." She explained making the others relax.
"Thanks…I haven't had much luck with friends or allies recently." Izumi explained making Ochacho nod in understanding.
"Like I told you before, screw them if they can't pull their own heads out of their asses." Katsuki said, getting his mother to nod as she pointed her fork towards him showing her agreement.
"Are you in the spectrum Katsuki?" Ochacho asked making Bakugo shake his head.
"Nah I'm straight and I haven't had any luck with those types of buttons…" He said motioning towards Ochacho's bag. "…but Deku is my little sister in all, but blood so bully her at your own risk." He finished making Ochacho nod.
"So you're secretly one of those tough guys that have a sensitive side huh?" She asked with a smirk, making Mitsuki laugh into her food while Katsuki just glared.
"Fuck no! In my opinion it doesn't matter if you're male, female, gay, or straight. If you get in the way of my dreams I'm going to knock you to the ground on my way to the top." He explained making Ochacho blink before nodding.
"That's surprisingly…mature for you Kaachan." She said, getting a growl this time as the others laughed.
"Don't you start on that! We haven't known each other long enough for that!" He growled.
"So how did your little family come to be?" She asked once the laughter died down.
"Well that story begins with Inko and I." Mitsuki said, making Inko chuckle.
"We met one another as children in a park. A few of the local boys were picking on me because I was…quite chubby as a child." Inko added.
"Didn't give them the right to pick on you!" Mitsuki growled, making Inko chuckle.
"Mitsu here saw them and proceeded to punch their lights out yelling at them to leave me alone from then on."
"Easiest friendship I ever had." Mitsuki said, making Inko snort.
"Only friendship. All the others were too scared to even try and talk to you." Inko added, making Mitsuki wave her words off.
"If they couldn't handle me I didn't want them." She said making Masaru chuckle this time.
"So Inko and I stuck to one another through thick and thin and nothing seemed to get in the way. It wasn't until collage time that anything important happened." Mitsuki said, moving the story along.
"By that time Mitsu was already a well-known coordinator, and I was in nursing school while part time modeling to pay for it all." Inko said, making Mitsuki nod.
"Since the magazine also focused on coordinators, the two of us also got to show off our partners from time to time. Masaru here was one of the amateur photographers they hired." Mitsuki explained making Masaru nod.
"However, it took Inko convincing me to ask Mitsuki out. At first I believed her to be some Yankee girl from a broken-up gang and would be too intense for me. Inko convinced me to give her a chance…and I fell in love with her." He explained making his wife smile.
"And the rest they say is history." Inko explained making Ochacho look slightly confused and opened her mouth only for a kick to hit her legs.
She looked at Katsuki with her cheeks puffed up only to be met with a look that conveyed a single word.
"Don't." It said clear as day. After a moment she nodded and went back to her meal.
"What about your parents, Ochacho? What are they like?" Izumi asked, making Ochacho smile brightly.
"Mom and Papa met back in college. Papa was learning about engineering while Mom was getting a degree in business management with a minor in engineering." She explained making the group nod slightly in understanding.
The rest of the night went much like that until the kids fell asleep in the living room watching a movie while the adults mingled in the kitchen.
The next day Ochacho, Izumi, and Katsuki decided to go wandering around the town since school was out and they had nothing better to do.
Ochacho wanted to see more of the area she would be moving to if she got into UA, and Izumi wanted to see if any new merch had come out for her recent favorite trainers/coordinators.
Katsuki had decided to give Blaze a few days off from training and walked with the girls around the nearby mall.
"Wow…you really are a big fangirl for trainers and coordinators." Ochacho observed as she listened to Izumi as she excitedly chattered about the figures, posters, and other items at the local collection shop.
"Be happy they aren't having a sale or else we'd be here for hours." Katsuki mentioned to her making Izumi blush.
"I'm not that bad!" She insisted only for a slightly older teen to walk by wearing the store's uniform.
"Hey Izumi."
"Hi Sato. How are you?"
"Good. Oh by the way! We just got in the brand-new posters of the new elite four." He said, making Izumi smile as her eyes lit up.
"Really! Sweet I thought they weren't due until the school year started up!" She said, bouncing in place as Sato led her away.
"'I'm not that bad' and I'm the king of Alola." Katsuki said after a bad impersonation of Izumi getting Ochacho to laugh.
Izumi held up a framed poster with a sigh on the front was Hawks, Ryukyu, and Miruko, but standing in the back was an angry looking red head instead of a smiling blond man.
About five years ago All Might had taken part in a police raid against a large group of criminals and Pokémon poachers. Unfortunately he had been injured in the raid causing him to appear less and less in the public before three years ago when he had no choice but to announce his retirement.
Endeavor took over as champion while Hawks, Miruko, and Ryukyu remained as members of the Elite Four.
However finding a fourth had been rather hard…to the point that just earlier this year they had no choice but to allow all challengers to try out for the spot.
Finally a man who wore ninja-like clothing named Edgeshot won out the tournament and was given the spot. Unlike most who tended to dress in ninja clothing Edgeshot didn't specialize in Poison types but instead focused on Steel types.
The tall gray-haired man always looked intimidating with his face mask covering all but his eyes and topmost of his head. So far he seemed to be working out, but most fans still missed the days when All Might was the champion.
"So what do you think?" Sato asked, making Izumi sigh.
"I don't know. I'll get back to you on it." She said, making him nod in understanding as she got back to looking around.
"I take it she isn't a big fan of the change up?" Ochacho asked Katsuki who sighed.
"All Might is her biggest inspiration for being a trainer…hearing he had to retire for his health didn't sit well for a time." He explained making the pink cheeked girl nod.
She looked around before spotting something that might wake her new friend up from her funk. "Oh…is that a new Ryukyu model with her champion Dragonite?" She asked loud enough to make Izumi's ear twitch in her direction.
"They even made sure to include the red bandoleers that crisscross over the chest." She added only to suddenly be sent spinning by a white cloud of dust a loud "MINE!" following behind.
Ochacho found herself suddenly very dizzy with swirls replacing her eyes. It was only thanks to the strong arm of Katsuki that she stayed on her feet.
"Yeah…next time you want to use her fangirl ways to cheer her up? Don't be in the path of the item in question."
"Noted." Ochacho said as she shook her head to get herself back into line as Izumi gushed over the model kit.
"Can't believe you spent ¥300,000 on another model. How is this one different from the other hundreds of Ryukyu you have?" Katsuki groused as Izumi walked with a bounce in her step with the new model purchased in a plastic bag.
"Because this is only the third Model I have ever had to fully paint and build from start to finish. It will look nicely with my All Might and my Tempest models." She explained making Katsuki sigh.
"You're lucky Auntie lets you work part time at the center for shopping money or else you would have driven the family broke." He pointed out getting a pout from his little sister figure.
"And like you're any better!" She said motioning to his own shopping bag with a model of a gym leader named Monkey Fist. Who specialized in fighting types with a Primeape being his go to Pokémon.
"Hey, I only have the Gym Leaders and Miruko who focus on fire or fighting types. A number significantly less than your total." He explained making Ochacho giggle with her own bag jiggling slightly.
Unlike the pair of them she had focused on a trainer called Thirteen, a Psychic/Fairy trainer who teaches at UA and is her personal favorite.
It wasn't the newest model, and it was seventy-five percent off more than justifying the purchase in her mind.
"Besides I only…do you hear that?" Izumi's question made Katsuki and Ochacho pause in their steps. The pair looked around in confusion neither having heard anything.
"What?" Katsuki asked. "That!" Izumi said, pointing in the air as if motioning towards something that should be obvious.
The green-haired teen moved off, making the other two follow behind as well, wondering if something was wrong. They walked until the sound of yipping reached their ears.
"Okay…now I hear something!" Katsuki commented as they started rushing off. The trio ran until they found a corgi Pokémon bouncing in worry.
"A Yamper?" The teens asked as Izumi led the rush towards the electric type.
Nearby a scarecrow like man leaned against a wall, his long blond hair covering shallow eyes as he laid there with labored breathing.
"Can't believe…I forgot…to pace…myself." He labored out loud.
"Also can't believe Nezu's Yamper ran off like that." He thought as he hissed in pain. He felt the wound on his stomach act up. He continued to sit there, a part of him starting to wonder if this was where he was going to die.
"Talk about falling from grace. From Champion to dead in a tunnel." He mentally groused as he felt his head fall back and his eyes close. He sat there before he heard something.
"Down here!" He blinked and looked in surprise to see Yamper coming back. But it wasn't alone following the Pokémon were three teenagers. Two girls and a boy.
The boy wore a red t-shirt with a black skull on the front, black jeans, tennis shoes and had spiky ash blond hair. The girl following had a bob cut of brown hair, pink marks on her cheeks, a pink dress with white leggings, a jean jacket, and white tennis shoes.
Leading them was a green haired girl with her curly hair up in a half bun the rest flowing behind her. She wore red boots, blue jeans, a green t-shirt with the image of a Pokéball on it, and a red belt that looked to be covered with compartments.
"Oh man!" The boy called out at the sight making the man snort.
"Ochacho call the emergency services to get an ambulance down here!" The green haired girl ordered making the other girl nod as she took out a flip phone and got to work.
"Kaachan…" The boy joined the girl and took a phone from her hands as she pulled on a pair of blue latex gloves. "…hold that while I talk." She said, making him nod without question.
"Sir, can you hear me?" She asked, her tone turning very professional.
"Yes…" He wheezed out before coughing a bit of blood out.
"Okay no talking if you can help it." She said, taking out a white cloth and dabbed at his chin. "911 what's your emergency?" He looked to see the boy holding the phone on speaker.
"I have an adult male mid to late forties in the tunnel three blocks from the General Mall on Beeker. His breathing is very shallow and labored, underweight, coughing blood, and holding his side in pain!" The green girl said, sounding like a medical official.
"Patient is responsive but cannot speak without more loss of blood."
"Can you see if he has any injuries to explain the pain or blood loss?" The operator asked as the green girl pressed against his chest making him hiss when she touched his scar.
She lifted his shirt. "I see a scared mass on his stomach that appears aged but is paining him…" She put her hands on the right side of his chest. "…and there seems to be no responsive from his right lung." She said, causing him to motion his hand.
She looked as he moved her hand towards another area. "I found surgical scarring on the area where his lung is most likely meaning whatever caused the injury caused the loss of said lung." She said aloud, making him nod with a thumb up.
"Alright sweetie RA unit is on the way. Can you tell me your name?" The operator asked. "Izumi Midoriya…I'm a volunteer nurse at the Pokémon Center on the corner of Central and Holly." She said, making him blink before he smiled.
"Of all people to find me?" He wondered.
"And how did you find the patient?" The operator asked.
"His support Yamper called out for help leading myself and my friends to him." Izumi said, looking over at the electric type with a smile.
"Good job girl." She praised making Yamper yip in happiness as her tail started to wag.
"Can you find anything to identify the patient?" The operator asked making Izumi look at the man who motioned towards his pockets.
She pulled out a wallet. "His ID lists his name as Toshinori Yagi." She said before giving the wallet back to the now named Toshinori.
Soon Ochacho came running up with a pair of paramedics following with a transport gurney.
"We'll take it from here young lady…good work." The lead said, making Izumi nod as she stood up.
The pair stood up with Toshinori and made to leave with Yamper trying to follow. "Which Hospital are you taking him to? So we can bring Yamper by." Izumi pointed out leaning down to pick up the corgi sized electric type.
"Musutafu General!" They called back as they loaded Yagi into the transport.
Yamper whimpered as they drove away. "Don't worry girl. We'll take you to him so you can see him as soon as it's okay." Izumi comforted the dog, making it whine before licking her cheek getting a giggle.
"Pops is home today, he can take us!" Bakugo exclaimed, making Izumi and Ochacho nod as they ran off with Yamper running beside them.
Masaru arrived at Musutafu General in record time with the teens all rushing inside with Yamper once more in Izumi's arms. "Excuse me?" Izumi asked the receptionist looked up at her.
"We're looking for Toshinori Yagi…this is his support Yamper." She said making the nurse nod as she typed away at the computer.
"He's been moved to the fourth-floor room E-16." She explained making the teens nod as Katsuki texted his father on where to find them once he was inside.
The group arrived at the floor in question to find two men already there. "Present Mic?!" Ochacho called out in surprise, making the pro in question look towards her.
"Hello. Are you a fan?" He asked with a smile.
"I think she's wondering why we're here in particular Mic." A hobo looking man pointed out before the teens could speak.
"Oh well we…"
"And I tell you I'm going to whack you again and again if I must! Just to get the message through your thick skull!" An elderly voice yelled from the room making the teens jump slightly.
"…are transporting a personal caregiver to their patient." Mic finished lamely while the hobo looking guy sighed while facepalming.
"And why are you here?" Said hobo asked after a minute.
Izumi blinked before motioning to the Yamper in her arms. "We're here to return this support Yamper to her partner." She said pointing out the orange vest the dog Pokémon was wearing.
The hobo blinked this time. "Oh…so you are the good Samaritans that found our colleague?" He asked, making the trio blink.
"Colleague?" They asked together in wonder.
"Mr. Yagi will be joining UA this year as part of the battle tactics classes. His experience as a trainer is rather extensive…unfortunately he is injured and sometimes forgets he now has limits to how active he can be in a day."
The hobo explained before the door opened and an elderly woman wearing a lab coat walked out.
"Stubborn…mule…" She groused before pausing at the sight of a familiar Yamper in a teenager's arms.
"Oh. Hello dears." She said, making Izumi smile.
"Hello Recovery Girl. It's nice to meet you." She said with a bow.
"Katsuki, Ochacho…meet Recovery Girl, a world-renowned doctor and healing expert in all things Pokémon and Humans. In fact she is responsible for several potions and other healing items we use to this day." Izumi explained with a slight bounce in her step making Recovery Girl chuckle in good nature.
"And you must be Izumi Midoriya who rendered first aid thanks to your time as a volunteer nurse. Well done young lady." The elderly healer commented, making Izumi blush with a smile.
"Thank you. Which would make you Eraserhead AKA Shota Aizawa correct?" She asked making the hobo raise an eyebrow towards her in question.
"Eraser…who?" Katsuki asked, making Izumi sigh.
"He's a retired gym leader who specialized in dark types. He also constantly helps the police with investigations that involve more stealth than limelight. Six-time winner of the Liberty cup who retired after to become a leader.
Finally one of the main teachers of the Pokémon courses at UA. You probably haven't heard of him because he hates the limelight and tends to stay out of it as often as possible.
However he is still considered one of the best professional trainers in the region with many trying to convince him at one point to take the open slot of the Elite Four, but he turned it down. For quote 'Being too much of a hassle' end quote. His main go to partner is an Umbreon that many speculate was his very first Pokémon." She explained making Aizawa raise an eyebrow this time slightly impressed.
He didn't give interviews often, and most of his past fights were buried on the internet meaning one would only find them if they looked very…very…deeply in the past.
"I'm both curious and worried to ask what she knows about me." Present Mic whispered to Aizawa causing the girl to blush.
"Sorry…I tend to go off from time to time on information I've gathered on pros." She explained.
"And how do you know his name?" Recovery Girl asked.
"Oh he didn't get the stage name Eraserhead until after his first-year sports tournament at UA. He is one of the few to not pick out a name by that point. More than likely because he couldn't think of one until one was given to him by a friend…most likely Present Mic."
This time the adult males blinked in surprise. "You…watch the past tournaments?" Aizawa asked, making her nod.
"Watching different tactics and move sets of different types of Pokémon is a good way to strategize against said types in the future." She explained.
"And the nickname?" Mic asked.
"Oh that…well judging by the way you two are standing by one another it's obvious you've known each other for a long time and have been close for the greater part of that time.
Over time Aizawa has shown that his imagination lies with battlefield tactics, but not nicknames since he never uses them for his partners. Which means he didn't come up with Eraserhead on his own and as his closest friend you would help him.
Eraserhead most likely comes from the fact that Aizawa likes to shut down certain stats such as speed, power, etc. in his battles thus erasing any advantages his opponents have." She said with a smile making the adults look at one another before Aizawa leaned over.
"We are never introducing her to Nezu." He whispered, making Mic nod. Both feeling a very real fear that if the principal of UA got his hands on this girl the pair would eventually set in motion a plan to rule the world.
"That was…" Ochacho started to say before pausing, not sure how to continue.
"Scary beyond all reason while impressive as all hell?" Katsuki questioned making Ochacho nod after a moment.
"Yeah…she does that." He said showing Ochacho he was long used to such things.
"So is Mr. Yagi going to be okay?" Izumi asked after a minute making Mic, Aizawa, Katsuki, and Ochacho pay attention to Recovery Girl once more.
"Yes. Sadly he sometimes forgets he's not as fit as he once was and overexerts himself from time to time. However thanks to you finding him so quickly he's going to be fine all things considering." The doctor explained, making Izumi sigh in relief.
"Good." She said before motioning towards the Yamper. "May we leave this little one with him or should we leave her with you?" She asked the adults.
"You can leave the mutt with Yagi." Aizawa said, opening the door for Izumi who nodded and walked in. The group followed to see Yagi sitting up in bed.
"Ah…there you are, you little scamp." He said in a deeper voice than the teens were expecting as Yamper jumped onto the bed.
"Thank you for taking care of her. I was worried when she ran off on me, but I'm glad she found you."
"Found might be a stretch." Katsuki said, making Yagi and the adults look at him in confusion.
"He's right. Izumi heard Yamper before we went running towards the area from the mall." Aizawa and Mic looked at one another in confusion.
"How long was Yamper gone before the kids found you?" Aizawa asked.
"Couldn't have been more than a minute or two." Yagi said, making Aizawa raise an eyebrow once more.
"Well it doesn't really matter. What does matter is Young Midoriya, and her friends found me when they did. Thank you all." Yagi said, making Aizawa nod, getting the hidden message.
"Speaking of. Who are your friends?" He asked making Izumi blink.
"Oh sorry. This is my godbrother Katsuki Bakugo…" The ash blond boy nodded his head in a slight bow. ``…and my friend Ochacho Uraraka." The bob cut girl held her dress out in a curtsy.
"Well thank you once more. You three came to my rescue and I hope to see you in future classes." He said, making the trio nod before Izumi reached forward and scratched Yamper behind the ear.
"Good night sir, and once more good job girl." She said, making Yamper wag her tail with a slight bark, getting a chuckle from Izumi and Yagi.
Once the teens were gone Yagi looked towards Aizawa. "Call Nezu…I think we need to have a staff meeting." He said before looking at the door once more.
"Have I found a successor?" He mentally asked a small smile appearing on the corner of his lips.
That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this work
