After Peter made the announcement at the final evening of the Celebration of Freedom, the Kingdom was in a buzz. All the young maidens were hoping to be chosen but even the Narnians that didn't have young maidens as daughters were coming to Cair Paravel in order to catch a glimpse of the Choosing Ceremony as the Narnians were now putting it. It was supposed to be in four months time which felt like forever but it kept creeping closer and closer with each exciting day. Peter tried to keep to his duties with protecting Narnia but even he was nervous about this new step in his life. He just hoped he wouldn't make a mistake by making himself look like a fool to the young maidens in his court.

He told Lucy that she could be in charge of this special event which thrilled the youngest sister completely. Peter actually felt it comforting to know that she was dedicating her time to something so uplifting, lately he finds it uncomfortable to see his sister on the other side of the Battle Table. Lucy was very brave, even at such a young age but Peter wasn't ready to see her grow up just yet. When Peter asked if she would like to be in charge, it was almost as if the same youthful Lucy emerged as now, that is all that she seemed to want to talk about.

Peter's only request was that Lucy didn't have any of those talent shows she was so eagerly pushing for the first day. They came to a settlement that the event will be for four days and on the sunset of the fourth day, he will make his announcement. That seemed more than enough time to figure out who he was planning on spending forever in holy matrimony with.

Peter opened his eyes one morning, but instead of doing his usual walk to the balcony to look out at the land, he stayed in bed. He remained there because he knew what day it finally was.

A loud thunderous knock came at the door, "PETER! PETER! ARE YOU DRESSED YET?!"

"Lucy…" Peter groaned as he rolled onto his side, "Please go away"

The door opened as Lucy came flouncing in, "You are still not dressed? Peter! The maidens are going to be here any minute!"

"On second thought, Lucy" Peter slowly got up, "I think one evening will help me determine who will be my bride"

"Nonsense" Lucy replied, "I did not spend the last four months talking nonstop to Nymphs, Sprites, and other creatures just to make this weekend perfect for you only for you to settle for one night. You wanted to marry out of love and that is what we planned. I have been awake all night preparing the castle for this special occasion and not even you are going to destroy it with your last minute notions. Now, with all due respect, High King, GET DRESSED!"

Peter quickly grabbed at the fabric that Lucy threw at him as she turned and marched out of the door.

"Do not make me ask again!" Lucy yelled out before changing her voice, "Good morning, Edmund"

Edmund came in as he glanced back to their sister, "Isn't she in the mood?"

"You're telling me" Peter scoffed as he made his way to the changing corner, "And she hasn't even hit puberty just yet"

"You should be happy to know that she turned this place into a… flower, so to speak" Edmund informed Peter, "Nearly all the balconies and chandeliers are covered with it. I honestly can't tell if she plucked every single flower in Narnia or nymphs are just scattered everywhere"

"Well, she did mention nymphs to me before" Peter half nodded, "If that were the case then that means that she can really convince anyone to do anything for her"

"I can't wait to see who she gets saddled with" Edmund said, "Speaking of which, your brides are arriving"

Peter glanced from behind his changing curtain before the brothers made their way over to the balcony, now seeing that even his was covered in flowers. He would've wondered how they got on there without disturbing Peter's sleep but he had more pressing matters at hand. It was almost as if the castle was under siege but with an exciting taste in the air. He saw boats, horses, even hippogriffs flying carrying carriages towards Cair Paravel as he wondered what hybrid creature was in there considering how the Pevensie's were the only humans in Narnia. His stomach turned as he felt grateful that he at least got to choose his bride.

"Murder me, Edmund" Peter mumbled.

"Why?" Edmund smiled, "This is way too much fun to pass up"

Peter groaned, "Let's just get this over with already"

"That's the spirit of a true groom"

Peter stopped and looked to his brother, "Don't make me betroth you to a giant"

Edmund's face fell as he almost challenged Peter but decided that the wisest thing right now was to keep his mouth shut. Peter made his way down the hall as he almost felt ready to be sick. Susan and Lucy were at the end of the hall as he could hear the excited chattering from behind the door. Lucy turned to her brothers and smiled at them before coming up to Peter and brushing off whatever was on his shoulder.

"Are you ready, Peter?" Lucy asked, "The girls are more and excited to meet you"

"Really?" Peter questioned, "You asked them yourself?"

"Can you not hear them?" Lucy waved to the closed door, "They're so excited, they'll eat you up alive"

"Some of them might" Edmund muttered.

"Hush now, Edmund" Susan scolded, "Honestly, Peter, you make it sound like we're in grade school again"

"Except I knew all of the gradeschool girls since we were in kindergarten" Peter told her, "These women, I have never met before"

"You do remember that grandpa and grandma were an arranged marriage, right?" Susan asked, "They didn't even meet until their wedding night"

"I don't think that makes this any better," Peter said.

Suddenly, Lucy opened the doors without even warning her siblings as they were greeted with women screaming at the top of their lungs. Peter was stunned by the sound as he slowly walked in to see the hall wasn't as full as he thought it would be, which was a good thing. He awkwardly waved his hand as he wondered if this was how boy bands must've felt whenever they were out in the open.

"Good morning, ladies" Susan smiled to all of them, "Thank you for coming"

Susan turned to her brother, "Aren't you going to say something, Peter?"

"Yes" Peter took a step forward, "Th- Thank you for coming. I know this came sudden as news but we believe that Narnia would feel safer if they knew our bond was serious. That is why we came up with this… union of sorts. I hope everyone has a relaxing time during this weekend as we get to… know each other"

Peter nervously nodded to them as the girls giggled and applauded him for his speech, he smiled and turned to his siblings but then stopped. They almost looked like they were going to slap him or shove him over the railing.

"Seriously?"

"What?"

"That was your speech?" Lucy scoffed, "It was terrible"

"Well, I didn't exactly had one" Peter confessed, "Normally these things tend to come out better than that one"

"I have a better idea to make this event less stressful for Peter" Edmund took a step closer to them, "Let's make them duel! To the death"

"What?!" Susan and Lucy let out.

"They each fight for their life and the winner is the High Queen Consort" Edmund pointed to two maidens pushing each other, "It's already started"

"Oh, shut up, Edmund," The three said to him.

Peter sighed as he looked out to everyone, still beaming and applauding his ridiculous speech.

"Well, I'm not going to meet my bride from the second floor" Peter turned to his siblings, "Shall we?"

"We shall!" Lucy hopped up to her brother and forced him down the stairs.
