Hello all and welcome to a new chapter in my newest obsession. Thank you all who have followed and favorited this work.
Now this chapter will be a bit of a filler before we get into UA and the arcs involving the school.
Remember unless it's OC I DON'T OWN IT!
Chapter Three
The next day Yagi, Recovery Girl, Aizawa, and Mic sat at a round table along with the other faculty members of UA. "So why are we having this meeting three days early? Have the results already been calculated?" A white-haired bulky male asked.
This is Vlad King the other homeroom teacher of the Pokémon courses who unlike most of his fellow staff members specialized in mixed teams. His nickname came from his tendency to draw blood from his opponents when they mistreated a Pokémon.
"That's a good question. What gives you four?" Midnight asked, pointing her small flogger handle towards the four in question.
"Most of you will no doubt have heard that yesterday I overdid it a tad…" Yagi was interrupted by a pair of snorts from Recovery Girl and Aizawa, but he ignored them. "…what you probably don't know is that I was found by a trio of teenagers. The leader of whom is very interesting." He said before motioning to Aizawa who pulled an image onto a nearby screen for all to see.
"Izumi Midoriya…yes I remember her. She was one of the few to gain a near perfect score in both the written and practical exams. Not to mention the first to earn a compliment from Aizawa-kun in some time." Principal Nezu said while wearing his prim suit attire while drinking from a cup of tea.
"What about her?" Vlad asked.
"I believe she has access to Aura abilities." Yagi said, causing Nezu to spit his tea out while the rest froze in place.
Nezu lowered his teacup down before taking out a handkerchief and dabbled his chin. "How can you be sure?" Nezu asked Yagi who looked down at the Yamper in his lap.
"While I was collapsed against the ground Yamper ran off for help, and Young Midoriya was the one to hear her." He said making a shovel helmet wearing teacher speak up.
"That doesn't mean she can use Aura." Power Loader, the ground type expert and head of the support division pointed out.
"If the mutt hadn't been only a minute or two away I would agree." Aizawa said, making the others blink.
"The girl in question had just left the mall on Beeker…there is no way those little legs ran fast enough to even come close to hearing range. Not without a proper order that is." Aizawa informed them.
"So she heard Yamper calling for help…?"
"As well as instinctively knew her gender, what kind of training she had, and could comfort a strange Pokémon that she had never before had contact with." Yagi added before Vlad could finish his question.
Nezu took a moment before he spoke up. "I can't say for sure that this proves she can use Aura…however I do believe this warrants a test." He said, making Yagi smile slightly.
"What kind of test and how do we go about it without raising suspicion?" These questions were asked by a man of average height wearing a trench coat.
This is the school counselor Hound Dog, a trainer known to keep dog breed Pokémon as a means of helping with counseling.
"This years' tradition for the top fourteen might work. She did score in the number one position." Nezu said as he looked at a familiar clipboard.
"Can you provide what is needed?" The principal asked Yagi who nodded.
"Then all in favor?" He asked getting raised hands from everyone there.
"Then it's agreed. We will test the girl." He said before he moved on to the next order of business.
"Are you seriously going to sulk all day?" Izumi asked Katsuki who just turned away from her, making her sigh.
It had been six days since the trio of friends had helped Mr. Yagi and their results from UA arrived this morning.
Katsuki was currently pout… "I'm not pouting!" …sulking at his placement.
"Second place isn't…" Izumi tried only to get a growl from her brother in all but blood.
"Second is the first loser. The only reason I'm not pissed is because I only lost to you!" He growled, making Izumi sigh once more.
"Well chin up. We need to head over and find out why they want us there now instead of in two months when the school year starts." She said making him snort before he agreed to follow her out of her apartment.
The pair hopped onto a train headed downtown and made good time as they approached the school once more. Izumi smiled when she saw a familiar head of hair. "Ochacho!" She called, making said friend turn.
"Oh! Hi Izumi! Hi Kaachan!"
"DON'T CALL ME KAACHAN!" He yelled back making Ochacho giggle slightly while he grumbled at the lack of fear from the girl.
"Did you just get here round face?" He asked making her puff her cheeks in a pout at him which he just smirked at knowing he had gotten a bit of petty revenge.
The trio walked and noticed the others gathering in one area. Most Izumi didn't recognize, but she did see the intense blue haired teen with glasses, Itsuka Kendo, the ginger girl from her exam, and Momo.
Speaking of, Izumi smiled and waved at the taller girl who waved back. The pair had spent the last week texting back and forth about their partners as well as general knowledge of each other.
In fact Izumi had invited Momo to join their group for lunch after this meeting. "Wow…so that's Izumi's type? Tall and…"
"I think curvy works best here Round Face." Izumi blushed and waved the pair off, getting them to shut up before anyone heard them.
"Welcome students of UA." The teens all looked towards a small gathering of faculty and staff with Principal Nezu at the front.
"Today you fourteen are here to take part in a special tradition of UA's extensive history. As you no doubt noticed, most of you are from the rankings of the top ten of our exam's lists…while the other four of you are those who have passed our recommended exams." Izumi blinked before looking at a blushing Momo.
"Okay add very smart to that list as well." Bakugo whispered, getting a nod from Ochacho while Izumi hissed at them.
The recommended exams were for students who earned a letter of recommendation from either a pro or from a prep-school showing they had great potential academically as well as physically.
The exams for such students had a high failing rate since only four out of ten ever passed. Meaning since Momo wasn't on the list Izumi and Katsuki received she had been a recommended student.
"You are all here because you passed with the greatest number of points and that means all of you are up for a challenge we will now put forth to you." Nezu said, making Izumi nod in understanding.
UA tended to challenge their top students right off the bat to prove they earned their placements. Two years ago the top fourteen were given maps to locations where evolution items had been hidden away and given two months to find their personal item.
Last year the students had to spend the two months interning with Recovery girl and make potions and other healing items before the start. Failure to meet these challenges caused a student to be replaced by a runner up. Showing a healthy level of competition among students.
"This year each of you will take part in a challenge only three of you have a record of accomplishing." Nezu said before motioning towards his staff. Each walked up to the tables and lifted fourteen boxes showing fourteen incubators filled with eggs.
"Each of you will be given two months to care for one of these eggs. All of whom will have hatched in that time period and success will be defined by their overall health and bonds with each of you." Nezu said, making a few start to whisper amongst themselves.
"Excuse me Principal Nezu?" Izumi looked to see a moss green haired girl with sharp looking teeth with her hand raised.
"Yes Miss. Tokage?"
"How is this a challenge if three of our number already have an advantage?" Tokage asked making Nezu smile.
"An excellent question. The hard part is this…each of you will receive a Pokémon from different spectrums of the wheel scale to your starters." He said making a red head with spiky hair raise his hand.
"The 'wheel scale' sir?" He asked however before Nezu could answer using the white board next to him Izumi raised her hand.
"May I Principal Nezu?" She asked getting a nod from the educator. "The wheel scale is basically a three-piece pie chart that is used to define what types are stronger or weaker to a certain type." She said but noticed the red head was still confused, making her smile.
"Let's use Aizawa-Sensei as an example." She said walking up to the white board accepting a marker from the principal.
"If you would?" She asked making Aizawa nod as he released one of his partners. The white light cleared showing off his Umbreon.
"Aizawa-Sensei is known to use Dark types as his mainstay…" She started before making a pie wedge on the board with a capitalized D and a lowercase r in the center.
"…which means they are the types one will most likely find in his party." She said as she made two more wedges making a perfect circle on the board.
"Now like all Pokémon there are type advantages…" She touched the wedge on the right going clockwise. ``…and disadvantages." This time touching the leftmost wedge.
"In a battle the worst types to use against a dark type are?" She asked about getting a dark-haired boy with dark circles under his eyes to answer.
"Psychic types, Ghost types, and other dark types." He said, making Izumi nod as she wrote a Ps, a Gh, and another Dr in the left wedge.
"And the best types to use against them are?"
"Fighting types, Bug types, and Fairy types." The same boy answered as she wrote out a Fi, a B, and a Fa in the right wedge.
"And with that we've made the scale. Dark types are strong against this group…" She said moving an arrow pointed at the right before making another from the left pointed towards the first wedge. "…and weak to this group. So the challenge is this. Each of us will be given a Pokémon to raise that fits into the categories that are either strong against our starters or weak to them. How we raise them will determine whether we succeed."
"How does that work?" A boy wearing a blue bandana asked.
"Well up to now all of us have only worked with one breed of Pokémon meaning our experiences are limited. The challenge is can we handle raising a Pokémon that will have an advantage, or a disadvantage against our starters while also teaching us to prepare for different mental states, behavior patterns, and even health needs of Pokémon we've never interacted with before now.
Meaning most of our knowledge of favorite foods, sleeping patterns, etc. etc. will now have to come from hard work and study instead of past knowledge gained from experience." She explained making Nezu smile slightly while Aizawa looked impressed.
"What about if we have a mixed type?" The spiky haired redhead asked.
"Well then they look at the overlaps."
"Overlaps?" At his question Izumi smiled.
"Let's use a Ground/Rock mix like your Geodude for example." She said, making him blink as she made a new pie.
"Rock types are weakest to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel. Whereas Ground types are weakest to Water, Grass, and Ice. So since they both are weak to Water and Grass those are the only types that go here." She explained writing a Wa, and a Ga in the weaker than wedge.
"Ground Types are super effective against Poison, Electric, and Rock types. Whereas Rock types are super effective against Normal, Fire, Poison, and Flying Types. Since Poison is the only overlapping type it is the only one that goes here." She said as she wrote a Po in the stronger than wedge.
"So in your case you will be given a Pokémon that is fundamentally Water, Grass, Poison, or a mix of these."
She looked back at the boy. "Any other questions?"
"How did you know I have a Geodude?" He asked, making her blink.
"Oh. Well first I deduced you were from Iwa due to your clothing." She said walking up and motioning towards his hiking boots, rugged looking clothes, and his red bandana.
"This along with your climbing harness, the spare rope hanging off your belt, and the wear and tear on the toes of your shoes tells me you spend a lot of time mountain climbing." She said before moving away slightly.
"Iwa is known best for her people loving the rocks and sand as much as her Pokémon do, meaning about eighty-five percent of you gain a Rock Type, Ground Type, or a mix of the two as a starter. The rare cases are your white-haired neighbor…" She said motioning towards the white-haired teen with slightly darker clothing than the red head, a green bandana, and a climbing pick hanging off his belt.
"…who comes from the Northmost section of Iwa where snow is gathered around the tops and area as run off from Hyou. Meaning he has a Steel Type." She said, making the teen in question blink in surprise.
"As for the Geodude, well your body told me that." She said raising his arm showing off the muscle mass growing.
"The constant lifting of stones is an exercise a few breeds of Pokémon are known to do, and statistically Iwa trainers tend to join in on such workouts to earn a sense of brotherhood or sisterhood with their partners.
Meaning you would either have a Geodude, an Onix, or a Rhyhorn as your starter. The fact your arms are more muscular than your legs told me you had lifting competitions with your partner constantly eliminating all but one of those options. Thus a Geodude." She explained making the redhead blink.
After a moment of silence Midnight gave an impressed whistle getting applause from the faculty. Vlad leaned over towards Aizawa. "Aizawa…"
"Dibbs." Aizawa simply said, making Vlad blink before he started to grumble under his breath while Aizawa smiled under his scarf.
Nezu smiled as he listened to the green haired girl speak before clapping. "Very well said Miss. Midoriya." Izumi blushed slightly while Momo looked at her, a look of being impressed on her face, making the green girl blush brighter.
"Pay up Kaachan." Ochacho whispered, making Katsuki curse as he pulled out his wallet and slapped a few yen into Ochacho's outstretched hand.
"I can't believe she didn't hold out till the end of the presentation." He grumbled before putting his wallet away.
"As Miss. Midoriya said this challenge will test your ability to learn and your dedication to your partners. So when I call you up one by one you will walk up here with your partners so others understand who you have received the egg you have been given." Nezu said before taking out a pair of glasses that were placed upon his face as he took out a list.
"Yosetsu Awase." The blue bandana wearing boy walked up with a Roggenrola by his feet. Principal Nezu motioned towards the table as he was handed a yellow and beige egg.
"Fumikage Tokoyami." The dark haired boy who had answered Izumi's questions about dark types walked up with a Murkrow on his shoulder and was handed a dark blue egg.
"Tetsutetsu." The white-haired Iwa boy walked up with an Aron by his side. He was handed a brown egg with a white top.
"Tenya Iida." The intense blue haired teen from the exam with a Voltorb. He was also given a brown egg but this one was all brown.
"Itsuka Kendo." Izumi nodded to the Sawk trainer as she was handed a pink egg with a blue top.
"Ibara Shiozaki." A fellow green haired girl walked up with her hair in dreadlock like designs that almost gave it the appearance of vines beside her, a Servine surprising Izumi since it was the first 'starter' besides Blaze she had seen so far. She was handed a pink egg with a yellow top.
"Ochacho Uraraka." Ochacho walked up with Cutie beside her. She was given a purely purple egg.
"Eijiro Kirishima." The red head with the Geodude walked up and accepted a blue egg with red spins up one side.
"Katsuki Bakugo." Katsuki and Blaze walked up and he accepted a blue egg with a white oval on the front.
"Izumi Midoriya." Izumi smiled as she and Sunny walked up. Principle Nezu offered her a bright blue egg with black spots. The moment the egg was in her hand Izumi blinked as she felt…a jolt of some kind…she couldn't explain it.
"Are you alright dear?" Nezu asked making Izumi look at him before nodding.
"Yes." She said as she made to leave not noticing the teachers look at one another subtly.
"Now for the recommended students. Juzo Honenuki." A white-haired teen wearing a lighter brown outfit from Iwa walked up with a Drilbur by his side. He was given an orange egg with a beige circle on the front.
"Setsuna Tokage." The moss green haired girl walked up with a male Nidorino by her side. She accepted a slightly gold colored egg with a large white circle on the front.
"Shoto Todoroki." A red and white heterochromia teen walked up with an Alola variant of a Vulpix by his side. He was given a white egg with an icy blue circle on the front.
"Finally Momo Yaoyorozu." Momo walked up with Psy. Izumi watched with a bit of excitement as Momo was handed a blueish/purple egg with a pair of orange circles on the sides.
Once everyone had gathered their eggs Momo walked over and joined Izumi and her friends. "Hello again." Momo smiled looking very bubbly and happy.
"Hello Momo. Are you excited for the school year?" Izumi asked as the four made to leave all carrying their eggs while their partners were returned to their Pokéballs.
"Yes! I can't wait to see what kind of challenges we are going to face this year. Not to mention I can't wait to get started performing in both contests and showcases." Momo bounced, making Izumi giggle.
The pair started talking about some of their favorite coordinator performances recently. As they talked Katsuki and Ochacho kept a small distance away. "Feel like a freaking third wheel." He complained to Ochacho who nodded.
Both were happy to see Izumi opening up to the girl she had an obvious crush on, but the pair were so sweet.
"I swear I'm going to get diabetes if those two start dating." Aizawa commented watching Izumi and Momo walk off both bouncing in eager energy as they talked.
"Ah come on Shota. I think it's cute that they are so happy." Present Mic said as he laid a hand over the dark-haired teacher's shoulder getting a grunt.
"Besides, I'm more worried about that." He said pointing off showing Aizawa a bubbly looking Midnight who was smiling brightly at the pair of girls.
"Fair point." Aizawa said before the pair walked off.
"Where did you find this place?" Momo asked as she dug into a steaming bowl of shrimp ramen.
The four teens were now at a local ramen stand that had stools around the main counter.
"This is one of Katsuki's favorite places since they have their diablo bowl challenge." Izumi motioned towards the giant bowl in front of Katsuki with bright orange noodles with peppers and other spices showing clearly in the broth.
The ash blond boy was eating at a sedated pace, a pleased look on his face at the spicy food. "How…?" Momo asked since she noticed large muscular men nearby crying their eyes out after just one bite of a similar bowl.
"Auntie Mitsuki and Katsuki helped them produce the challenge since they love spicy foods. Because of this the pair are always given a single bowl each for free. As for how they can eat it…well Mom has a running theory that the pair of them have the power of fire types in their bloodlines."
Momo blinked before shrugging. "That would explain his fiery temper." She joked getting a giggle from Izumi.
"Now I really feel like a third wheel." Ochacho said to Katsuki as she munched on some bean buns and red sauce.
"So any ideas on what Pokémon will hatch from your egg?" Momo asked Izumi who bit into a pork cutlet from her bowl.
"I'm not sure but I feel like the egg is a Fighting type." Izumi said, making Momo tilt her head with a confused look.
"How so?"
"I don't know. Like I said, it's just a feeling." Izumi paused here remembering the strange feeling that came over her when the blue and black was placed in her arms for the first time.
A sudden jolt of energy and the feeling…of needing to prove oneself. It was strange and she couldn't understand where it came from. Before she became lost in her thoughts she shook her head.
"As for the other eggs. I think it's a safe bet both you and Ochacho gained Poison Type eggs. Since Fairy types are weak to Poison types and Psychic types are super effective against them. Plus…poison types are the only ones to have so many shades of purple associated with them." Izumi pointed out making Momo nod while Ochacho looked at her egg.
"What about me Deku?" Katsuki asked but before Izumi could answer Momo spoke up.
"Why do you call her that?" She asked, sounding very pointed, making Katsuki raise his eyebrow.
"Dekiru…she can do anything." He explained making Momo blink before she blushed looking very embarrassed.
"I…I…" She stammered making Katsuki wave her off.
"It's all right. Most think I mean 'useless' because of my temper." He said, making Momo nod.
Izumi chuckled. "Katsuki is my brother in all but blood, Momo. He gives everyone nicknames, but he only insults you if you do something to make him angry or if you attack his loved ones." She explained making Momo nod a part of her feeling guilty for misjudging the ash blond teenager.
"Don't worry. I made the same mistake when I first met him…Kaachan is a little rough around the edges." Ochacho said making Momo relax while Katsuki glared at her.
"DON'T CALL ME KAACHAN ROUND FACE!" He growled, making her puff her cheeks up.
"Then stop calling me 'Round face'!"
"Never you Kirby looking coordinator!"
"Then you're stuck with Kaachan!" She said as the pair pressed their foreheads to one another sparks firing between their eyes.
"Are they dating?" Momo asked in a whisper, making Izumi giggle behind her palm.
"AS IF!" Ochacho and Katsuki roared at the same time glaring at Momo before glaring at one another.
"DON'T COPY ME! YOU FIRST! ARGHHH!" The pair glared away from one another making Izumi fall onto the counter hitting her fist against it as she held in her laughter.
After a few minutes of catching her breath Izumi sat up and looked towards Katsuki. "I…am very sure…your egg is a Dratini." She said still gasping occasionally.
"A Dratini?!" The group shouted, making Izumi jump slightly.
"Fire Type attacks have a trivial effect on Dragon types…plus I remember seeing an egg just like that at the Center. The trainer returned to register a Dratini later in the month." She explained making Katsuki look at his egg with a whole new respect.
"Huh…sweet." He said before going back to his meal. Izumi chuckled at her brother's response before the teens went back to their meals.
"Are you sure I can't give you a ride?" Momo asked motioning towards the limo that had come to pick her up. "It would make me feel better knowing you got back safe not to mention it would be easier on you since your carrying precious cargo now." She motioned towards the eggs in the other teens' hands.
"I…" Izumi started only for Momo to walk up and take her hand, making her pause.
"Please?" She asked making the green haired girl look towards Katsuki and Ochacho, both of whom just had smug looks on their faces.
"Oh…alright." She said making Momo smile brightly making Katsuki and Ochacho look away at the bright glow that surrounded the taller girl.
"Oh great…two of them." Katsuki complained as he and Ochacho blinked their eyes clear.
"Welcome to the world." Ochacho commented as she bottle fed her blue Nidoran showing her to be a female.
It had been a month since the future students of UA had gained their eggs. In that time Ochacho had continued to message her friends while taking care of her egg.
Currently was the day most of the eggs were bound to hatch. Ochacho wasn't surprised that she hatched a Poison type, however the fact that the female Nidoran hatched from a purple egg did surprise her.
Due to her line Ochacho gave the baby the nickname Queen. She had already sent a photo to Izumi with said nickname.
In a mansion in Mustafu Momo looked at the Croagunk that was sitting before her. "A Poison/Fighting type. Talk about a challenge." She thought as she reached forward and gently scratched the Sinnoh native Pokémon under the chin, getting a pleased expression.
"Now…what do I call you?" She asked aloud trying to come up with something before sighing. "I may have to ask Izumi for a little help." She said remembering that nicknames were her specialty.
After learning that the Croagunk is female and has the ability Dry Skin she sent a photo off to Izumi with a question on what name to give her newest partner. Luckily Izumi came through with the name Toxica since she was both poisonous and deadly.
In a nice house Katsuki looked with a small smirk as his newly hatched Dratini slithered around his shoulders before pressing her face against his cheek. "Affectionate little one aren't you?" He asked getting a squeak from the pure Dragon Type.
Blaze looked at the new sibling with a tilted head. "Qui?" He asked, making Katsuki smile.
"She doesn't look like much now, but she's pure Dragon type. Once she grows a bit she'll be powerful as all hell." He said to his first partner, getting a nod.
"Now what to call you?" He asked. Blaze had been easy because he had been ten at the time and his mind hadn't thought much of it.
"Dragon…female…powerful…" He muttered before blinking and looking at his bookshelf. A familiar series of books on the shelves. "Daenerys." He said looking at the Dratini.
"I'll call you Dany for short." He informed them before he stood up and prepared to head off to register the newly hatched Pokémon at the same Pokémon center he had registered Blaze at.
Izumi looked at the Pokémon in front of her with surprise. The little blue jackal like Pokémon with black paws, and a black mask like coloring across its eyes. "A Riolu…" She gasped as she smiled at the little one.
Riolu and their evolved form were a rarity among the Evangelion Region for the most part Izumi had only ever heard of All Might having a Lucario among his partners. She didn't know how UA gained this egg, but she was happy either way. "Welcome to the world…Allura." She said making the female Pokémon cry in happiness as she was scratched under her chin.
"Where the hell did they get a Riolu egg?" Katsuki asked Izumi while at the Pokémon center.
Both were waiting for Nurse Joy to finish the check up on their new partners. "You've got me. Maybe they got it from one of the Sinnoh pros or Professor Rowan?" She questioned with a shrug.
"Possibly…either way that will make you stand out." Katsuki said, making Izumi shrug.
"Hopefully we can get some good training in before the school year starts." She mentioned making him nod.
"Are you up for resistance training?" She asked, making him snort.
"Name the time." He said knowing what she had planned. Since Lucario is a Fighting/Steel type, if Allura gained some resistance to Fire type attacks it could help her against a glaring weakness.
"I'm going to need help with Daenerys as well." He said, making her smile.
"We should probably see if Ochaco can come and help since she has a Fairy type." She added making him think about it before he nodded.
"Yeah plus I'll bet she'll want help with Queen." He added thinking of the photo she had sent him of the newly hatched Nidoran. Izumi nodded as she took out her phone and began planning.
"See if Ponytail has a training facility we can use…with how loaded she is they're bound to have a practice field at least." He commented, making Izumi blink before smiling.
"Momo will love that." She said with a smile which just made Katsuki roll his eyes.
"Can't believe I'm going along with Round Face and her plan to get Deku and Ponytail together…" He thought before looking over to see the bright smile that appeared on his sisters' face. "…then again it is nice to see that smile again. Just hope Ponytail doesn't hurt her like that bitch did." He mentally growled as he noticed Nurse Joy approaching with Daenerys and Allura.
That's all for now R&R
