The best way to communicate anything to Lori was through texts.
Lincoln knew this well. When she was at college, he'd sometimes send her a smiley-face emoji to let her know he was thinking of her.
This year, the roads near her campus had been icy, causing her to arrive home much later than she'd planned.
Lincoln knew Lori always hated feeling like she was missing out.
So, he'd sent her photos of what the family was doing while she waited for the roads to clear.
She'd sent him a kissy-face emoji in response.
The Lori-equivalent of "I love you."
