Summary: The dress? The bracelet? Did Namor realize what he had just done? Shuri did.
Everything happened so quickly. Moments ago Shuri was in a dorm at busy MIT with Okoye, talking to Riri about her underwater vibranium detector. They all went to Riri's warehouse lab, Riri, her and Okoye and Shuri was amazed at how someone so young could create so many advanced things. Things where, if she were on Wakanda, the possibilities would be endless as far as how much she could do, what she could create. Shuri was reminded of herself. Young. Gifted. Talented. Advanced in the ways of science and technology.
The dorm at MIT, the lab in the warehouse and the ambush by the happened so quickly. Bullets raining everywhere. Cop cars all about. A motorcycle. A bridge. Shuri had no idea what happened on the bridge due to being knocked out from the crash on the bike. Waking up was the confusing part.
Shuri groaned and placed her hand upon her forehead. She winced in pain and sat up. She heard someone scoot next to her and then a familiar voice.
"Oh God, I'm so glad you're awake." Riri spoke towards Shuri.
Shuri looked around to gather where she was. They were in an bast underwater cave. Stalactites and stalagmites were illuminated and gave the cave a beautiful glow. The reflection of the light from the water shimmering on the cave walls.
Shuri stood up and walked around. She wondered what was giving the glow. What was illuminating the cave? Was it animals? There was no electricity. Shuri looked around some more in wonder. Two Talokanil guards were near by and standing at attention. They watched every move. Other than that, it was just her, Riri, rocks and the beautiful glow of the tropical azure blue of the water.
A guard approached Shuri with her hands held out. She approached Shuri and held out what looked like some kind of cloth in her hands. Riri looked it over and so did Shuri.
"What's that?" Riri asked and reached out to touch and inspect it.
The guard urged it towards Shuri and Shuri took it in her hands, unfolding it and holding it up.
"A dress? A beautiful dress." Shuri said and looked at the guard. "I think she wants me to wear it." Shuri said admiring it's beauty.
Riri shook her head. The obvious 'Nope' with the whole gesture.
"Oh hell no. No girl, no. That is some super villain shit. Every movie. Every movie. It all starts with the dress. Don't do it girl. I'm telling you." Riri warned.
The guard motioned for Shuri to follow her.
"I have to. I don't want to offend anyone. I refuse the dress, refuse the food and then we're at war. All because of misunderstandings. I'm not going to risk it. I'll be back. Just stay here okay?"
Riri threw up her hands, shrugged and rolled her eyes.
"Like I have a choice. Where would I go?" She asked.
Shuri smiled and walked with the guard.
The guard took her to a private area and Shuri changed into the dress. The material was so soft as she ran her fingers along it. Her fingers ran along the smooth jade and various stones that were woven throughout the dress. It was beautiful. Intricate. She wondered how long it took to make. Shuri stopped admiring her reflection in the water once the guard came back and motioned Shuri to follow once again.
The guard lead her to a hut. A hut that looked from another time, another place. Like it didn't belong there. She walked inside and saw Namor sitting at a table. He stood when she entered. Shuri walked towards him, taking in her surroundings as she did so. There were murals on the walls. Bright and vivid colors. Golds. Yellows. Scenes depicting temples and figures.
Namor joined her as she admired the walls.
"These are about my home. About my birth. May I tell you the story?" He asked.
Shuri nodded with consent and listened to his words. He turned to her when he finished. She was still admiring the paintings.
"I don't want you to kill the scientist. She's a brilliant girl." She said. " I understand the love you have for your people and your desire to protect them. I can relate to that because I feel the same way about my people. Please let her go. No one has to die." Shuri pleaded. Namor shook his head and Shuri continued. "Keep me. Take me instead. I will stay here."
Namor didn't answer but stood with his hands folded. He just watched her with his dark piercing eyes. Feeling a bit awkward due to being watched so intently, she decided to walk around the room some more to admire.
She stopped in front of a table in the middle of the room and looked down to look at all the things that sat upon it. Upon a conch shell sat a beautiful bracelet of pearls and jade. Namor walked around to her and stopped beside her. He picked up the bracelet and held it towards her.
"It was my mothers." He said as he extended it out towards her.
"It's beautiful." She observed as she reached out then held it in her hand.
Namor reached out for the bracelet again. Once back in his hands he tied it around Shuri's wrist. Shuri looked at the bracelet and then looked at him. Her brows furrowed. Namor, confused, tilted his head and looked at her.
"Is something wrong? Did I offend you?" He asked with concern.
"You…" She put up her hand and rubbed her eyebrow as if trying to sort her thoughts. "This dress? Was this dress your mother's too?" She asked when she finally found words.
"Yes." Namor replied. "Why do you ask?" He asked with genuine curiosity.
"You gave me your mother's dress. Then her bracelet." She said as a matter of fact.
"Yes." Namor replied even though Shuri didn't ask questions.
He didn't get it. It's like he wasn't getting it. How could he not know? How could he not tell? Frustrated, Shuri decided to just be more direct.
"Namor, did we just get married?" She asked.
Namor looked at her, his eyes lingering and taking her in. He looked her over in the beautiful dress that accentuated and hugged her body but still stayed modest. His eyes moved to the jeweled bracelet upon her wrist. Her dark eyes followed at met his when they returned to her face.
"Yes." He replied softly with confirmation and smiled. "Come. Let me show you our home." He opened his hand towards her.
He took her hand softly, rubbing his thumb along her palm and fingers, enjoying the gentle touch and the warmth of her skin. She squeezed his hand and he guided her to another room that had a diving suit.
Dark mysterious eyes watched from a distance. Ears listened to the conversation but stayed hidden from view.
Shuri returned to the cave where she left Riri. Riri hopped down from the bed and greeted Shuri instantly.
"Thank God you're alive! We gotta get out of here. I can't live off fruit girl! Did you see this mess?" She asked and pointed to a basket.
"Uh Riri?" Shuri started. Riri saw the look on Shuri's face and sat down knowing she was about to receive some news. "Good news is you're going home." She said.
Riri jumped up and then jumped up and down. "Yes! Yes! Wait….what else?" She asked when Shuri didn't share her glee.
"Um. So…." Shuri hesitated. "Namor and I are married now." Shuri held up the bracelet to show.
Riri's jaw dropped.
"Wait, what? Girl you can't be serious. I mean, yeah those muscles and that hair and those Daisy Dukes coochie cutter shorts but come on. I'd want to hit it too if he weren't trying to KILL US. Oh and the KIDDNAPPING. He fine as fuck but no girl, no." Riri shook her head.
Shuri paid her no mind. She heard the guards approach. She turned and saw the guards, Namor, Namora and Attuma. Everyone had weapons except for Namor. Namor held two breathing apparatus and handed them to the girls. Attuma held his spear and something else. They all motioned to the girls to follow and join them in the water.
As soon as they hit the surface, Shuri used her Kimoyo bead earrings to communicate with her family. It wasn't long when a Wakandan ship appeared over them on a beach. It landed and an entourage came out. An entourage of the Queen Mother, M'Baku, General Okoye and the Dora Milaje.
They all walked from the ship and stopped a few feet in front of the group from the sea. M'Baku locked eyes with Namor.
"Fish Man." He said, pointing his nose up at him and looking down, sticking his chin out.
Namor ignored it. Shuri smiled at her Queen Mother but didn't leave Namor's side despite wanting to run into her arms and hug her. This alarmed the Queen Mother, that her daughter didn't move.
"Shuri? Shuri? Come here! Come here?!" She urged.
Shuri nodded her head and still smiled. She motioned towards Riri and Riri ran towards Queen Mother and the group instead.
"Mother, I cannot come with you." Shuri spoke. "Not yet but know I am safe and taken care of." Shuri said calmly.
Her Queen Mother gasped. "What? What do you mean!?" She asked confused and in shock. Not believing what she was hearing.
"Mother, I am safe. I'll tell you later. For now, I must return with Namor." Shuri reassured.
Queen Mother looked towards Okoye, spear in hand. She nodded and Okoye moved forward, spear pointed at Namor, attack stance at the ready.
Attuma stepped in between Okoye and figure was towering, shielding Namor and dwarfing him. Attuma nodded towards Okoye and slowly reached from behind. Gently, he laid a dress at her feet and then his own vibranium spear.
"What is this?" She asked and watched as Attuma stepped away and fell back in line besides Namor.
Attuma looked at her and gave the Talokanil greeting. He then turned and joined the others who were already making their descent and returning to the sea.
"Shuri!" Queen mother yelled out. Okoye's spear was still aimed.
"I'll explain later." Shuri crossed her arms into an X. "Wakanda Forever." With that she disappeared under the water with the Talokanil from the sea.
Riri looked at Queen Mother who was still looking at the Ocean trying to figure out what just happened. "Girl, I mean….Ms Queen of Wakanda….I got something to tell you."

A/N: Been reading tumblr articles about the deleted scenes and how the ones behind the movie would joke about them being married and not know it. That is where this came from. I also was thinking of the step brothers movie with will ferrel and james c riely where they go "did we become best friends!?"
