One week and they're going to graduate from High-School. Every student is busy accomplishing the remaining tasks needed to complete their final grades. After their kiss, Temari started avoiding Shikamaru on campus. Shikamaru was thinking about it so much, it pains him. His eyes always stared at a blank space and were unable to engage in any conversation.
On one of the benches on the campus, the five council officers meet during lunch.
"Congrats to us! You guys really did a great job this year! Thank you for being part of the council" Sasuke said during their weekly meeting at the council.
"And to you Sasuke!" Naruto exclaimed
Each one of them gave their speech to bid farewell to Konoha high school and to the council. When it was time for Shikamaru to speak, he declined.
"Are you okay Shikamaru?" Naruto worriedly asked
"Yeah, I'm just not feeling well"
"It's been 2 weeks Shikamaru, are you sure that you're okay? I think you need to get checked?" Shino suggested
"Yeah, it's been a good year with you guys. I'm happy that I meet you all. There, there's my speech" Shikamaru said with a deadpan expression.
"Oh c'mon, he's just lazy with speeches. It's normal to him. My turn to speak now" Kiba walked in front and cleared his throat. Shikamaru still didn't care about anything or anyone in their spot, his gaze didn't remove from the blank space he was looking.
"Alright, how will I start? First of all, thank you! I love you assholes, you're my assholes. You know that!" the three chuckle as he continues his speech.
"Thank you for all the sacrifices, tasks, events, games, and bets that we shared. I cannot complete all my tasks being a secretary without you all. I look forward to having some beer sessions with you in our college. Finally, to adulthood! And lastly, I can proudly announce to you guys that me and Temari are together now"
Shikamaru turned his head to Kiba, his eyes narrowed, his breath becomes swallow, and his hands start gripping the edge of his chair.
"I won you fuckers!" Kiba exclaimed.
"Oh fuck! Dammit!" Naruto shouted while stomping his feet to the ground.
"I fucking hate you Kiba!" Shino said while standing up and picking something inside his bag.
"God, you're robbing me" Sasuke rolled his eyes while saying it, grabbing something from his pocket.
Shikamaru was confused at what was happening, a sudden shift of their emotions makes his suspicion grow. He saw Naruto taking out his wallet and placing a few ryo on Kiba's table, then Shino placed his ryo, and Sasuke did the same thing.
"What the hell is happening?" Shikamaru asked
"What?" Kiba said while laughing
"That? Why are they placing their money on your table?" His voice was now in an angry tone.
"A bet?" Kiba said sarcastically
"What the fuck do you mean bet!?" His voice becomes low, stinging, and in a violent tone.
"We placed a bet! since Temari is kinda difficult to get. I placed a bet to get her. These three fuckers agreed" Kiba explained
His eyes were now bloodshot, his hands were in a tight grip, and an attempt of killing Kiba in that spot runs through his mind. He stands up and walked to where Kiba was standing, his hands grabbed his collar and pushed him to the wall. Kiba felt the cold wall on his back.
"What the fuck are you doing Shikamaru!?" Naruto panicked after seeing Shikamaru pin Kiba to the wall.
"Shikamaru! What the hell!?" Kiba said while coughing.
"Why did you do that!? You fucking dickhead!" Shikamaru shouted at him, his eyes staring at Kiba furiously.
"Shikamaru! Put Kiba down! Enough!" Sasuke commands
"No! All of you! Shut your fucking mouth!" Shikamaru turned his head to the other three while still grabbing Kiba.
"What's wrong with you Shikamaru?" Shino said in his low voice.
"I'm going to kill you!" Shikamaru said with the intent to kill
Kiba laughed at him "You fu-cker! You fucking hypocrite! You told everyone that you hated her! Look at you now? You acted like you're in love with that bitch!"
"Leave her! If you're not going to leave her, I'm going to cut your head!" His hands start gripping hard to his collar, and Kiba struggled to move from him.
"What is to you Shikamaru? Huh? What is it to you if we placed a bet on Temari?" Kiba said.
Before Shikamaru spilled his next words, the five council officers heard a voice behind them.
"What do you mean you placed a bet on me?" Temari asked while holding a bento box "You guys placed a bet on me?" Her face was mixed with curiosity and anger.
"Temari?" Shikamaru said while releasing his grip on Kiba's collar.
Temari dropped the bento box and walked away from their spot. The three student officer catches Kiba who is now panting while Shikamaru runs to catch Temari.
"Temari!" Shikamaru was able to catch her and tried to grab her arm
"Don't you fucking touch me!" Temari shouted, her eyes were now red and tears forming on the side.
"Listen to me! I didn't know about the bet! Believe me!" Shikamaru was pleading for her trust.
"You're with them for almost 24/7 and you're telling me you didn't know a single bit of it? I'm not dumb Shikamaru!"
"Can you please...Trust me Temari! I will never do that!"
"How's the bet? Was it a good money? Huh? You're welcome! you can finally say that I have worth to this school! To your council!" Temari yelled, her eyes now leaking tears.
"No, no, please believe me!" Shikamaru was now out of breath, he didn't know what to say. What explanation or action should he do to convince her that he didn't know about it. He has no idea about it.
"All the things that you did to me in the past months...was that part of the bet?" She asked him in her low voice, pleading for an answer.
"I didn't lie about what I did! Those were all true! Every single fucking thing I did to you is true!" His voice becomes louder, and all the emotions that he builds up over the past weeks were now emerging.
She shakes her head, laughing while tears flowing her cheeks "I don't know what's true or lies coming from your mouth right now anymore!"
"Truth or lies?" Shikamaru laughed while shutting his eyes, his hands placed on his hips while pacing the ground.
"Tell me Temari! Tell me about your truth and lies! I want to know why did you ignored me after we kiss? And decided to accept Kiba as your boyfriend? Are you scared? Scared that you're feeling the same way as I did?"
Temari suddenly becomes silent, catching her breath while wiping her tears.
"Tell me!?" Shikamaru demanded
"I wish I never met you" she said in her soft and sad voice
Shikamaru was unable to move, his heart was pierced with pain after hearing her words. Temari walked away from their spot and tears from Shikamaru's eyes slides down his cheeks.
They never saw each other after that day. Temari and her brothers didn't attend their graduation, they left Konoha and returned to Suna the day before their graduation.
