*Ainz in Teyvat instead of Traveller and Paimon. A week before Stormterror attack on Mondstadt.*
A dark silhouette was sitting on a pure obsidian throne 23:58:48, 49, 50—
The lonesome figure further leaned against the seat, and slowly raised his head to the ceiling. He had built Nazarick, this most difficult dungeon, with his friends. But now, all of their hard work would be undone.
The count-down continued, Momonga getting one final good look at the 41 gigantic flags dangling from the ceiling.
Is he going to let their legacy end on a depressed note? A thought came into Momonga's mind. No, he wants to honour their achievements one last time...he had to..
And so, he'd summon the guild-staff, the accumulation of their friend-ship, hard-work as well as pride.
"Eternal Glory to Ainz Ooal Gown!" The guild-master proudly exclaimed, holding the staff up high.
"May all of us meet again.." He mused, satisfied with his one last, probably childish indulgement, closing his eyes, the timer would hit Zero.
But in the next instance Suzuki Satoru opened his eyes, what greeted him was not the familiar sight of his room beyond a pane of thin glass.Instead, he'd feel a gentle breeze crashing against his form as well as a night-sky so beautiful that makes him stare in awe.
Where exactly is he? What was going on? Had the server shut-down been delayed? If so, where is the announcement and why won't the console show up? It is as if he had been entirely cut-off from the system!
Anxiety and doubts filled him, Momonga looked at his hands. His left hand held the symbol of the guild, the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown. His right hand, nothing. There was no doubt that those bony hands belonged to Momonga, just like in Yggdrasil. However, the sensation is different, now it feels like these were now his real hands and he knew technology isn't advance enough to replicate these sensations.
" Had I become my game-avatar? " he connected the dots, no matter how ridiculous the conclusion may be. But if so, his top consideration ought to be "Where is this place? "
The overlord turned to survey his surroundings which was mostly a grassy plain except for a particularly large tree as well as a strange statue of a winged person? Sure, similar land-scape might exist in one realms of Yggdrasil but one thing he doesn't recognize at all is the statue. Is he even in Yggdrasil anymore?
Should he use [Fly] to investigate his surroundings? Momonga quickly shot down the idea as that would be the same as exposing oneself to potential enemies. That being the case, this was the first measure to take.
"[Perfect Unknowable]." Momonga looked down, there was no indicator for his status and he could still see himself but hopefully he is invisible to others.
With an uneasy yet somewhat excited spirit, he decided to set out, stashing away the precious guild-item in his inventory space first ofcourse, although he was initially hesitant to actually put the one of a kind weapon into a void-like space.
After 20 minutes of aimless wandering, Momonga seem to have arrived at a shore-line or rather he is atop a cliff that over-looks it. And it seems this new body comes with a few advantages, as he could easily and clearly see objects farther than he'd normally be able to.Sure, there were spells to enhance his sight but it doesn't seem to be necessary at the moment.
And this time around, it wasn't the scenery that caught his attention, rather it was a group of bright rounded figures. Now, that is finally a familiar type of race he had expected to see in a fantasy world.
"Slimes huh? They look quite small too." ofcourse Momonga was aware neither race nor appearance doesn't determine an individual's strength and there were plenty of troublesome slime players and classes back in Yggdrasil. The prime example being his comrade Bukubukuchagama and if these slimes were anything like Ainz Ooal Gown's invincible tank, he'd have to leave them alone.
How should he best approach this? Should he make friendly contact? But their behaviour seems to be pretty primitive, so it would just be a fruitless effort. Truth to be told, Momonga wanted to gauge his strength by killing them but it would be too dangerous, what if there is a stronger foe hiding.
After a period of rumination, he decided to not to let this opportunity slip by.While he did not dare to place too much faith in his strength, there should not be any problems if he could use the same spells as he normally could. No, even if things went bad, he should still be able to escape.
[Fly]
Momonga muttered the spell name and felt it activate but the control consol did not show up. He had suddenly "understood" how to control the [Fly] spell by feeling alone. He was not even conscious of it; it was as though it were perfectly natural. This was a very abnormal situation.
He descended and even though he should be well within the creatures's sight by now, they seem to be completely oblivious to his presence. Now that reassures him as he was now sure his spells were working atleast.Momonga then issued a mental-command to dispel his [Perfect Unknowable] and just as he predicted the one closest to him instantly jumped back in surprise, a reaction which he find quite adorable.
' Hmm, they look like condensation of pure elemental energy...Just like in games. ' Momonga began his observation. Despite having the appearance of a 12 feet tall skeleton, he was quite nervous as fire was the bane of all undead creatures, second only to the holy element. Could these seemingly harmless blobs cast spells similar to [Vermillion Nova] or what if they have something even stronger?Hopefully, it wasn't enough to one shot him. After all, he knows his magic resistance is more than average.
Whatever the case maybe, it is already too late to go back on his decisions as his foes had made their first move, lunging their flaming bodies at him.Momonga was ready to calculate the damage and plan his counter- attack only for them to harmlessly bounce of what seems to be an invisible shield.
" Their levels are too low to bypass my immunity, huh? " internally, Momonga let out a sigh of relief as well as joy to learn his passives were working. And these creatures seems to lack total awareness as they kept throwing themselves against the concrete wall despite its futility.
"Well then, I do feel quite bad for doing this but you guys will have to be my 'test-subjects'...Sorry- [Grasp Heart]!" he chanted his favourite spell, and a faint yet shiny image of what appears to be the slime's core, appeared on Momonga's out-stretched hand before it was unceremoniously crushed and at that exact moment, one of the bright orange creatures melted into a pile of magma. And even as he presumably killed another being, he felt no sense of guilt nor remorse as if he had stopped entirely being human. Now knowing his remaining enemies were not a threat, he could take his time.
"Since it appears your bodies are composed of nothing but fire. Then, how would you handle this? [Fireball]" a ball of fire shot out from the tip of Momonga's finger, hitting the targets before making a small explosion, evaporating all the water in their vicinity but his actual targets came out unscathed.
"Perfect fire resistance huh? Color me impressed." the magic-caster commented, stroking his chin...
Momonga was tempted to cast stronger versions he has has within his arsenal to see if they are truly immune to that specific type of damage but creating a giant fire-storm will bring more harm that good as that would basically be him marking himself as a target.
"Now then, I should wrap this up...[Chain Lightning]" a weak fourth tier spell was cast as a bolt of electricity jumped from one target to another, overloading all the helpless mobs, their bodies swelled, the energies within their bodies becoming unstable after being induced with a strong current.Tiny combustions would follow, leaving nothing but smell of ash and smoke.
Momonga hummed, feeling quite satisfied of how things turned out. He had been worrying about what he would do if there were Players — especially PKers — around, but it would seem he had been wasting his efforts and besides, he didn't even feel his anti-divination counter-measures activate.
Even so, Momonga still feel like he was completely blind. He has a couple of theories like he had been sent to a completely different world in his game-avatar. If so, what is the power-level of this world? Are there any players like him out there? Can he even go back to his original world? Ofcourse, Momonga still didn't want to count out the possibility this being a blunder or a prank by the YGGDRASIL devs.
Whatever the case, what still lies before him was a completely foreign land one undoubtedly filled with un-explored beauty and adventure...Yes, what he needs to do right now is collect information.
"How long had it been since I last feel this excited?" if Momonga still had flesh, he'd undoubtedly be smiling. On the other hand, a calm and fullfilling life doesn't sound bad either. If only he knew, fate won't be so kind to him~.
The descension of the Overlord of death didn't go un-noticed by higher powers of this world. The heavenly principles which had been silent for a long time felt a disturbance of its laws of the world. The Irminsul, the archon of Snezhnaya even the abyss became weary of the new-comer, a new un-predictable factor, whose existence they could neither pin-point nor prove but one thing for sure, their decisions could shape the very foundation of Teyvat .
Hi, Hi. Author here, I've always wanted to see how Ainz would fare in the world of Genshin and since no dedicated fan-fictions would pop up, I've decided to take matters into my own hands. Slight bit of warning, there would be alot of divergence from the game's plot and also, I'm not shy to kill off prominent NPCs or the game's playable characters if plot demands it.After all, this is a Overlord fanfiction~.Proper criticism and ideas are always welcome!Drop a review and a follow folks as that'd mean alot to me~.*
