Hey! My name's Roxy Goth. This is my first fanfic for We Bare Bears. I find Ice Bear a fascinating character, and wanted to try writing something from his perspective. I hope you like.
Warning: Mentions of suicidal thoughts
I do not own We Bare Bears.
During the night Ice Bear thinks. There's rather a lot of time between evening and morning and seeing as Ice Bear doesn't sleep well, he thinks.
He thinks about Yuri and the cold, welcoming winds of his old home. The coldness of his axe as he runs it across his paws. Panda always worries when he does this. He starts talking about self-harm and all that stuff. Ice Bear doesn't quite understand the worry. He just likes the feeling of it. If he was going to do anything with it, he'd have done it when he was younger.
When he was first set adrift on the ice. When he was wondering around before he met Grizz and Panda. Or when they were rejected from one of their hundred potential homes. Really, when he thought about it there were loads of opportunities he could have killed himself, but for some reason he didn't.
Now, of course, it was due to Grizz and Panda. He couldn't leave them. They didn't really know what they were doing. Without him, he knew, they would be lost. That and...he cared for them. Much as they did his head in [he believes that's the expression] he loves them to much to ever leave them. Now, if they were split up that would be a different matter...
But hopefully that won't happen.
It won't happen.
He knows it won't happen.
...Maybe he'd better check.
He got out the fridge and padded softly to Panda's room. Of course his brother was asleep, hugging his pillow. Phone on one side of his face, sliding down towards his mouth. If he could see himself now Panda would be horrified.
Ice Bear went over and - with extreme care - picked Panda's phone off of his face and put it on the sideboard next to him. For good measure he also pulled the duvet up round his older brothers chin so he would be warmer.
Now for Grizz.
His oldest brother was sprawled ungraciously on his bed, snoring loudly. Knowing that if he got to close Grizz would wake, Ice contented himself with looking round the room and making sure there were no intruders before shutting the door and heading back to his bed.
The cold air blew in his face and he gave a sigh of contentment. Everything was alright. For now, at least. Tomorrow everything may go wrong, but if it did Ice Bear was prepared.
He was prepared for everything.
With a small smile, he pulled the door closed and attempted to go to sleep.
