Midnight glanced at the window for a moment, her eyes following as the brown-haired girl outside sprinted away to her class. Who is that? I thought I knew most people here… with aunt Toriel being the assistant principal, and head of the PTA… I wonder if I could do some grading for her tonight. Midnight looked back up at her part for the concert piece as the teacher spoke to the woodwinds.

"Okay," Mrs. Smith began, turning to the percussion section. "Marin, make sure you practice your marimba part before the next meeting, okay?" Marin nodded a small look of embarrassment on her face. "Got it." She said, her confidence being betrayed by her facial expression.

"Now then, Midnight, have you looked at the other song yet? I will remind you that you do have quite a few rather difficult parts to play in that one." Mrs. Smith turned to Midnight, tapping the monster's music folder. "I'll make sure to look at that." Midnight replied, opening her folder and glancing at the other piece of music, which she did not want to practice at all.

Half of these notes are just rolls… She thought gloomily. It's so hard to get them all consistent. The monster sighed silently, just more homework for her to burn herself out on.

"Alright, everyone," Mrs. Smith began after she had talked to Justin, Tanner, and Brody about their parts. "I'll make your teachers know why you're late today and ask them to excuse you, but still hurry, don't be later than you already are."

Midnight walked in the door to the art room after a few minutes of walking through the hallway. "Midnight, you were in jazz band, right?" Mr. Miller asked. "Yeah." Midnight replied, slightly embarrassed to have interrupted everyone working. "You're sitting over on that table this year, hope that's alright." The teacher said, pointing to a table with a couple of kids on it, including her youngest cousin, Frisk.

The other girl on the table was the same brown-haired Viran from earlier. She's in the class I TA for? Midnight thought suddenly. "Anyways, hope you all have fun! Now, off to work!" Mr. Miller said with a smile.

Midnight took a seat across from Frisk, next to the mystery student. Frisk looked up maybe- it's hard to tell since their eyes are always closed. "Hey, Midnight! I forgot you were a TA for this class." They said cheerfully. Classic Frisk. Always looking on the bright side of things. Midnight nodded, smiling. She turned to the student next to her. "I don't think I got your name… I'm Midnight." The monster said, trying not to sound too nervous or excited. Don't scare them away… Part of her mind thought quietly, not quite knowing why.

"...Lidia." The girl responded quietly. "Woah, you got her to talk!" Frisk said, seeming to be truly surprised. "T-that was a joke, by the way…" They added, turning to Lidia for a moment, Lidia smiled, but not much else. Quiet and shy… okay. Let's break the ice.
