Guess who's back? Back again!

They drove back home in silence. Harvey watched Donna out of her corner of his eye while she stared out the window, deep in thought. He couldn't understand what had happened while she'd been giving her statement, much less why she was suddenly shutting him out. For as long as he could remember, he'd been the one who had shut her out, with her trying her hardest to convince him to open up. Yet when the roles were reversed, he felt powerless to help her. The only thing he could of to do was to put his hand on hers, let her know she wasn't alone, but Donna immediately pulled her hand away from his as he did so, leaving him even more confused than before.

Ray pulled up outside Harvey's building and Donna stepped out with a quiet 'thank you' that Harvey wasn't even sure Ray would have heard and went inside without waiting for him. He thanked Ray and trailed after Donna, pleasantly surprised that she was holding the elevator doors open for him. They stood in the elevator wordlessly, watching the floors light up as they rose higher to the penthouse.

'Donna. Donna, please talk to me,' Harvey tried as he closed the front door and locked it behind him.

She tried to keep moving away from him into the bedroom, planning on telling him she needed a nap, but he blocked her way.

'Donna, tell me what's wrong.'

His tone told her he wasn't going to argue, so she sighed defeatedly and turned into the kitchen. She took out mugs from the cupboard and made two coffees, slamming down the milk and the sugar and forgetting to add the vanilla as she spoke.

'I lost the gun. I had one piece of evidence, and I lost the goddamn thing!' she cried, tears falling down her cheeks.

Something about the defeated way her shoulders sagged as she tried to wipe away her tears broke Harvey's heart and despite her trying to push him away with her free hand, he enveloped her in a tight hug.

'I'm so sorry, Harvey,' she whispered in a painful echo of the night they'd all found out about what Stephen had done and Harvey remembered how she had blamed herself, apologising over and over for having had a relationship.

And then he realised.

He realised she had been blaming herself for having been with Huntley in the first place, and now she was blaming herself for having lost the evidence.

'Shh, you're ok,' he promised, smoothing her hair in an attempt to reassure her, 'you're ok. It's not your fault, Don. You did nothing wrong- you escaped! God, I don't know what I would have done if those assholes had been successful. I'd be going crazy right now.'

'But still, I lost the evidence.'

Harevy sighed. 'Don't you see, Donna? You could do a million things wrong, and I would still love you. Because I will always love you. I need you like I need oxygen and nothing you could ever do would change that. Just the thought of you having been taken by those men sends my blood boiling and I can't breathe, Donna. Thinking about you not being here makes me not want to be here either. I would do anything for you, so no it doesn't matter to me. I don't care that you lost the gun, or that you and that arsehole slept together. I don't care.' He put his fingers under her chin and gently pulled her face up to meet his. 'I love you.'

Donna melted at his words (how could she not?) and realised just how far Harvey had come since being with her. Though she hadn't thought it possible, her heart swelled and she decided she loved him even more. She reached up to kiss him, tracing her fingers across his cheek before rooting them in his hair. He kissed her back, gently at first but slowly the kiss became stronger. He pushed her against the countertop, fireworks firing between the two of them. Without warning, Harvey scooped her up in his arms and carried her over to the sofa, breaking the kiss. He laughed at her squeals as she kicked her legs in the air in protest, laughing through her playful screams as she linked her arms around Harvey's neck.

Placing her on the sofa, Harvey climbed on too and resumed the kissing, working his way down along her collarbone and starting to undo the buttons on her dress. She did the same to him, discarding his crisp white shirt onto the floor as he pulled her dress over her head. Donna savoured every kiss, reveling in the normalcy of it all and how she didn't feel anxious for the first time since the altercation with the two men. Harvey unhooked her bra, throwing that onto the floor with the shirt and moving his kisses further down her body, lingering on her stomach as though he could feel the butterflies fluttering in it as much as Donna could. She arched her back, fingernails digging into Harvey slightly as he continued his way down.

Just as Harvey was about to reach her underwear, they heard a loud knock at the door. They immediately sprang up, wondering who on earth would be calling in the middle of the day. Motioning for Donna to stay where she was, Harvey went to answer the door.

'Harvey, nice to see you,' Jessica said sarcastically, moving past Harvey before he'd invited her.

Fully aware that Donna was practically naked in his living room, though normally it was a thought that would be immensely satisfying, Harvey tried to duck in front of his mentor, but without luck. Nervous of what he would find, he walked in to see Donna standing barefoot on the rug wearing his white shirt that settled halfway down her thighs, just enough buttons done up that she was decent in front of the named partner but not so many that Harvey didn't think she still looked absolutely ravishing. Donna's tousled hair, as well as her clothes in a pile on the floor, gave away exactly what was happening.

'Harvey,' Jessica turned around on her heel to face him, 'why do I keep walking in on you and Donna like this? And anyway,' she interrupted just as he was about to try to offer some explanation, 'what I came here to ask is why the hell you both aren't at work.'

The cheeky grin on Harvey's face was gone instantly and replaced with a quick glance at Donna, communicating to her that she could leave, that he would take care of it.

'I don't pay you to sleep with your secretary, Harvey,' Jessica reprimanded him once Donna had left the room, 'but I assume you have a good reason to be with her today?'

Harvey grinned again. 'Can't I just be having really mind-blowing sex?'

Jessica raised her eyebrows sternly.

'Ok, fine. You remember how you told me about Stephen Huntley? Well, after you walked home with Donna and she was walking the last few blocks to her place, two guys came at her with a gun. She fought them off, but they were trying to get her in a van. She only just got away and then she came back to me at the firm. We went to the police a few hours ago, so they know everything.'

Jessica paused thoughtfully for a minute and sat down on an armchair.

'And how do we know this is connected to Stephen Huntley?'

Harvey considered telling her about how he had threatened Donna the night he had been fired, but he couldn't see what good it would do to tell her now.

'They mentioned his name, and besides who else would want Donna?' he reasoned which seemed to satisfy Jessica, who nodded.

'How is Donna? Is she ok?'

'She's… ok. A bit shaken up, obviously, but she'll be fine as long as the police catch him.'

Donna came back into the living room, still wearing Harvey's shirt but with a black pair of yoga pants and her hair in a loose bun. The women smiled warmly at each other, though Donna positioned herself slightly behind Harvey, standing in front of Jessica by the coffee table.

'Will you be back tomorrow?' Jessica asked, not wanting to pressure either of them but adopting the view that they were both committed to their work and that it might take their minds off things.

Harvey looked back at Donna, who nodded, and turned back to Jessica.

'We will.' He took Donna's hand, a gesture which didn't go unnoticed by Jessica. She smiled to herself, thinking of how far he had come, both personally and professionally, since she'd met him in the mail room.

'Well, I'll leave you two to it then,' she smirked. 'Take care, Donna.'
