Raul had never thought that to like someone could be a problem.
However, until meeting Skull many of his beliefs, which he had at first believed to be unshakable, had been discarded and twisted to the point of incomprehensibility.
Raul wasn't complaining about that, though.
And that was the problem.
Raul liked Skull, perhaps a little too much, to the point where he recognized that the healthy thing to do would be to take a step back.
And of course. Raul did exactly the opposite.
Raul was willing as the most loyal of spectators to see how Skull's life would continue. Would it end as a forgotten disgrace in a corner of the newspaper? Or would it begin a period of glory and praise?
Raul honestly couldn't know. But years of watching and caring, made him lean towards the latter.
Maybe that's why when his boss fired him from his job in favor of hiring his nephew, Raul didn't hesitate to accept Skull's offer to become his manager.
In Raul's opinion, that was a terrible decision, for the two of them.
He had no idea what he was doing, but Skull barely had any idea what he was doing, so Raul's mistakes were hardly noticeable.
Since Raul knew nothing about the entertainment industry, he began to accept any job for Skull, and in the meantime tried to learn what he could in his spare time.
The fact that Skull willingly accepted the jobs Raul showed him, made him think they were making a good step.
Then one day, Skull came over and said, "by the way, I'm off with this super shady director to perform some suicide stunts stay here while I get secretly killed."
Those weren't the exact words, but that was how Raul felt as he dashed to his room assembled a makeshift bag and then forced himself into the crew car. His heart was still racing as he hugged his bag close to his chest and forcibly pushed away the feeling of embarrassment as Skull, the director and the driver looked at him in surprise.
"Raul, I didn't know you were coming!" said Skull.
Yeah, Raul didn't know he was coming either.
And that is how he found himself on a journey to an unknown destination.
The car left without stopping for three hours and showed no signs of stopping its race anytime soon.
It had been okay when they were still in the city, but an hour in the desert made him question the legibility of this whole operation even more.
The first thing he noticed upon entering the vehicle was the alarming amount of of fireworks stored in the seats. He would bet his non-existent dental insurance that most of those were illegal. He didn't even want to know what was in the trunk anymore.
Next to him, Skull who had started the trip with an excited attitude, had been silent for the last hour and kept staring at the endless sands outside the window.
The specialist held out his hand and Raul moved his suitcase to his feet to take it back.
"I think we're going to get killed" It was the first thing Skull blurted out after being silent for an hour.
"Don't say that" Raul practically begged. His nerves were still on edge from all the times the car jumped a pothole and he wondered if that was the moment the extremely illegal pyrotechnics blew up the entire vehicle.
"What kind of shooting is done in the desert?" Skull whispered fiercely. Although it was too late to consider the danger of getting into cars of unknown men.
"An amazing one, I assure you!" replied the director who was in the passenger seat.
Skull turned around with tears in his eyes.
"No one will die... probably" Raul assured, smiling a little as Skull shot him an increasingly alarmed look.
They would be fine... Raul had sent his address to everyone he knew and had mentioned this very explicitly to the director, so this wasn't a murder plot.
"Don't worry guys, Franco already managed to find the right route"
"We were lost!?"
Well, at least not a planned one.
