Hey, everybody. Back with the final chapter of this story..

Let's get to it.

Chapter 14- New Position

(July 4, 2026)

"Well done, everyone!"

Jared, Jonathan, and the rest of the Hammers and Rangers all smile a bit as they hear this. In front of them, Admiral Boyle is smiling as he continues to speak, "You all have exceeded our expectations. In the space of less than a month, you have crippled the Dark Force and destroyed their former Imperial allies. The Alliance owes all you a great debt of gratitude."

Admiral Boyle pauses before he says, "I have received word from the Joint Command. The Hammer Squadron and your platoon, Lieutenant Franks, are to be awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation. Individual medals are being worked out right now, but Captain Page, I can confirm that after hearing from President Trump, you are being considered for your third Medal of Honor."

Everyone looks at Jonathan with broad smiles, who just smiles politely in response.

"As your mission is now officially over, Jared Hansen, you are officially cleared to return home. Lieutenant Franks, you are being asked back to Christophsis, where, after reporting to your commander, you may return back to Terra on leave. Captain Page, you and the Squadron will remain here on standby for the next two weeks while we search for any remnants of the Dark Force not destroyed on Bosthirda and Dromund Kaas. After those two weeks, you will be cleared to head home to Terra on leave. Understood?"

"Yes, sir," everyone assembled responds to Boyle.

"Good. Then, you are dismissed," Boyle says. He then straightens up fully and salutes the group, who all return the salute. Once he lowers his salute, Boyle turns to head back to his office.

The group all turns to face each other. "Well, everybody. Even though most of us have only met within the last month, working with all of you has been a true joy and honor. You all made this mission possible. I don't know if I would have had as much success as I did without you. Thank you all."

"It was an absolute pleasure to work with you too, Jared," Jonathan says, reaching out a hand to shake Jared's. Jared happily takes the offered hand, giving Jonathan a big grin.

Jared looks around at everyone. "Well, I am going to head straight home. My wife has been wanting to know when I'll be home, so I don't want to keep her waiting any longer. You all should know how to contact me through the Order. All of you will be welcome in my home any time, whether for a meal or just to visit. Please, feel free to contact me and stop by."

"Copy that, Major," Lieutenant Franks says with a smile.

"Tell your wife hello from all of us, and that we enjoyed working with you," Jennifer Lawrence adds.

"Will do. Until we see each other again," Jared says. He inclines his head respectfully, then turns and hurries out of the room, heading for the airfield, ready to go home.

(July 17, 2026)

Jared smiles brightly as he walks up to the front door of his home in Ranson, West Virginia. Finally, after almost two months of being away from home, he is finally home. And he couldn't be more ready to see his wife and daughter again.

Jared pauses, takes a deep breath, then turns to the doorknob and opens the door. As he walks in, he hears Lacy call out, "Oh, Rachel, is that you?" in reference to their next door neighbor who often comes over with her baby for mommy days with Lacy.

Jared grins as he stays quiet and makes his way into the kitchen, where Lacy is occupied kneading bread dough while Brooklyn is sitting in her bouncy seat. As Jared enters, Lacy turns to look at him.

It takes Lacy about half a second to register that Jared is standing in front of her before she jumps back slightly and screams in shock, slightly upsetting Brooklyn, who begins to whine. After a second, Lacy flies across the kitchen, slamming her lips against Jared's. She kisses him about half a dozen times before pulling away a bit and almost screaming, "Why didn't you let me know you were coming home?"

"I wanted to surprise you, honey," Jared says with a smile, laughing as he embraces her tightly.

"You could've at least given me some warning!" she says.

Jared laughs a bit before responding, "Where would be the fun in that?" He then gives her another quick kiss.

Jared then lets go of Lacy and turns his attention to his daughter. "Oh, there's my little girl! I missed you, my little princess!" he says in a slightly higher pitched voice as he walks over to the bouncy seat to unbuckle Brooklyn. At the realization that her dad is home, Brooklyn stops crying and starts burbling and giggling.

Jared picks her up out of her seat, tossing her up in the air a bit and catching her, making Brooklyn laugh. He then kisses her forehead as he says, "I missed you so much, Brooklyn."

Jared then turns back to Lacy. "Gosh, I missed you both."

Lacy smiles as she embraces him tightly. "We missed you too. Didn't we, Brooklyn?" she says, finishing by tickling Brooklyn under her chin.

Jared chuckles a bit, then says, "Also, honey, we have something we need to go to. The Jedi Council asked me to come to the Temple on important business, and they told me I could bring you two. I need to report to the Temple immediately."

Although Lacy wished she could have some more time alone with Jared, she knows how important it is when the Council summons you like this. She also knows most of the Council and has no problem going to see them.

"Alright, let me go get me and Brooklyn ready to go, and we'll get moving," Lacy says. She then kisses him one more time before taking Brooklyn from him. "I love you so much," she says with a dreamy smile on her face before she heads up the stairs with Brooklyn.

Jared smiles as he watches her go. Then, knowing he has a few minutes, he heads out into the backyard. As he heads out into the back, he calls out, "Hey, daddy's home!"

Immediately, he hears barking. Within a second, their two dogs come rushing up to him. He and Lacy have had their older dog, a female Aussie goldendoodle named Roxy, since their marriage. Then, just last year, they had gotten their second dog, a female border collie named Ginger.

"Hey, girls! I missed you!" Jared says happily as he drops to his knees, only to be almost knocked over by his overexcited dogs. Jared laughs happily as Roxy and Ginger are jumping all around him, happy out of their minds that he's home. As he is laughing and playing with the dogs, Jared feels extremely grateful to be home.

(An hour later)

Jared is relatively quiet as he and Lacy ride up the lift towards the Council Chamber. They had arrived at the Jedi Temple just a few minutes earlier, and are now heading up to the chamber. Lacy is carrying Brooklyn in her baby carrier.

Finally, the lift comes to a stop and dings, and the door opens. To their surprise, Plo Koon is waiting for them. Plo is now extremely advanced in age, and it is starting to show a little bit, but he can still get around well.

"Jared. Welcome home," Plo says in greeting.

"Thank you, Master," Jared says, and the two share an embrace. Jedi had become more comfortable showing such affection to each other, especially to Jedi they were close to. Jared and Plo had maintained a very close relationship since Jared graduated to Jedi Knight and left apprenticeship with Plo.

As the two separate, Plo turns to Lacy. "Lacy. Good to see you," he says.

"You too, Master Plo," she says happily as she gives him a hug. She then says, "You need to come over for dinner soon. It's been too long."

"Agreed," Plo says with an air of humor.

As he pulls away from Lacy, Lacy holds up Brooklyn's carrier so Plo doesn't have to crouch down to see her. "Hey, Brooklyn. Say hi to Grandpa Plo!" Lacy says happily. Given Plo's relationship to Jared, he was very close to Lacy, and had been a figure in Brooklyn's life since her birth. Jared and Lacy both referred to Plo as Grandpa Plo to Brooklyn

Plo chuckles lightly as Brooklyn gurgles happily and reaches her arms out at Plo. Despite Plo's appearance compared to her parents, the fact he had been in her life since her birth meant Brooklyn was very used to Plo by now. Plo lets her grab one of his fingers and says, "Good to see you as always, little Brooklyn." She giggles happily in response.

Plo then straightens up and faces Jared. "The Council is ready. Shall we go in?" Plo asks. Jared nods, and Plo leads Jared and Lacy to the Council Chambers.

As they enter the Chamber, they see the rest of the Council is all gathered: Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, Ahsoka, Cal Kestis, Miriam Walker, Kit Fisto, Ezra, and 4 other members of the Council. Ezra and one of the other members are taking part in the meeting by hologram, giving they are off-world at the moment.

"Welcome, Jared. And welcome to your family," Ahsoka says in greeting. She then comes up and gives Lacy a hug, as the two have become close since Lacy married Jared, and tickles Brooklyn's toes before moving to take her seat.

"If everyone will be seated, we will begin," Plo declares.

The Council members all move to take their seats, as Jared and Lacy stand in the center of the circle. Once everyone has taken their spots, Plo begins to speak.

"Thank you all for coming today. We have called Jedi Knight Jared Hansen before us today due to an important matter that involves him. As all of you know…I am getting along there in age. I can no longer move like I used to, and my body is deteriorating. I have come to the decision that my time has come to retire from active duty with the Jedi Order. I wish to spend my last days in relaxation," Plo declares.

Jared and Lacy feel shocked, not having expected Plo to be announcing his retirement, nor that he would retire. Some of the Council members look surprised as well, but most do not.

Plo pauses for a moment before he says, "In my stead as Grand Master of the Terran Jedi Order, I propose that Kit Fisto take my place. What is the vote of the Council?"

"Aye," all of the other members of the Council declare. Being one of the oldest and most experienced Jedi after Plo, Kit is the obvious choice to take Plo's place.

Plo then looks at Jared and says, "And now, for the reason we have called you here, Jared. With my retirement, there is a vacancy on the Jedi Council. For that reason, as my last act as Grand Master of the Terran Jedi Order, I make the following proposition: members of the Council, I propose, for his actions in his service as a jedi Knight and before his defeat of the Dark Force, that Jared Hansen be granted the rank of Jedi Master and be appointed to fill the vacancy on the Jedi Council left by my retirement."

Jared feels shock run through his body as his eyes shoot wide open. Lacy gasps slightly in shock. The Council members, though amused by the situation, are focused on the motion proposed by Plo. Ahsoka speaks up first and says, "I second the motion." One by one, the other members of the Council give their agreement.

Jared and Lacy are still standing in shock as Plo stands up and faces Jared. "Jared Hansen, you are hereby granted the rank of Jedi Master, and invited to take a seat on the Jedi Council."

Jared and Lacy are quiet for a moment before Jared manages to recover from his shock. "I accept, Master."

"Then, welcome the Council," Ahsoka says.

The Council members then begin to get up from their seats and come up to congratulate Jared. However, Lacy is first to congratulate him, wrapping her arms around him after setting Brooklyn's carrier down and crying tears of joy as she says, "I'm so proud of you, darling." Jared embraces his wife in return, stunned at what has just happened, but feeling ready for this next phase of his journey.

(July 18, 2026)

"Alright. Once we have passed the jump point, we are cleared for hyperspace jump," Alex calls out.

Jonathan nods as he holds the SF-15 steady. After almost two weeks on alert for any further sightings of Dark Force cultists or forces, they have finally been cleared, and are on their way home for an extended leave.

Over the last two weeks, the Squadron has actually only flown once on a combat mission. For most of the time, they had just remained on Naboo, either training or getting a bit of rest. The Squadron had also enjoyed reminiscing over the short campaign against the Dark Force.

"You ready to go home, Johnny boy?" Alex says.

"You know it, Alex. I've been away from Abigail for too long, and I'm a bit tired. I could use a bit of relaxation before going back on duty," Jonathan says. Alex chuckles a bit in response.

Suddenly, the radio crackles to life. "Hammer 1, this is Theed ground control."

"Hammer 1, go ahead," Jonathan says.

"Hammer 1, we have just received word. Two Imperial Star Destroyers operating as pirates have launched a raid on a merchant convoy at Tibrin. You are being diverted to stop the attack!" the controller says.

"Copy that. On our way," Jonathan says. He then switches over to the squadron frequency and says, "Well, Hammers. As you know, we sometimes get called in at a moment's notice. There's a pirate raid going on at Tibrin by two Star Destroyers, and they want us to deal with it. You guys ready to go?"

"Ugh, I guess," Hammer 6 says over the radio.

"We're behind you," Hammer 9 says over the radio.

"Program your hyperdrives," Jonathan orders. The Squadron, with the help of their droids, quickly reprogram their hyperdrives to take them to Tibrin. Once they have finished, they call out they're ready over the frequency.

"Alright, guys. Let's get this done so we go home!" Jonathan says. He then pushes the hyperspace throttles forward, and the Hammer Squadron jumps to hyperspace on yet another mission.

Alright, guys. Here we go. We have come to the end of this story.

I hope you guys enjoyed this story. I know that this was shorter, but I hope that you guys still enjoyed it, especially the action scenes.

I hope you like how I did Jared's reunion with his family. Also, little tidbit about that, I chose the breeds of his dogs because my wife and I have a goldendoodle ourselves and love her to death, and a border collie would be another dream breed of mine.

Oh, wait. Before I go on, we have a mid credits scene, of course!

(July 19, 2026)

As the sun rises slowly over Ossus, the sounds of wildlife are starting to echo through the forest. As the sun rises, it illuminates the structure of Luke's Jedi Temple. All in all, it seems like a very peaceful day.

However, inside, it is not as calm as outside. Through the halls of the temple, a woman's screams can be heard.

In one of the rooms of the Temple, Han Solo is sitting with his twin children, Jaina and Jacen, who are now 7 ½ years old, as well as the Jedi youngling Grogu. The twins have been happy playing with Grogu, who they find adorable. However, the occasional screams they are hearing have the twins worried.

As another scream is heard, the twins momentarily stop playing with Grogu and look at their father. "Daddy, is Auntie Kelly gonna be okay?"

"I promise, Aunt Kelly will be okay. She's strong. And just think, she's doing all this for your new little cousin," Han says encouragingly.

"I wish she didn't have to hurt though," Jacen says.

"I know. I wish so too. But that's how things are. Let's just wish her good luck," Han says, the twins nodding.

Meanwhile in another room, Kelly is lying on a bed, dressed in a simple white gown. She is crying slightly from the pain, her body covered in sweat from effort. Luke is sitting in a chair next to her, holding one of her hands with both of his, whispering encouragement to her. "Sweetheart, you are so brave, so strong. I know you can do this."

Down at the foot of the bed, Leia looks up at Kelly. She had been serving as Kelly's midwife, given she had come to help her sister in law through the end of her pregnancy and also refresh her Jedi training with Luke. Although she wasn't specifically trained as a midwife, she knew enough, especially from her own experience giving birth.

"Alright, Kelly, I can see the head. Just a few more pushes and you're done. You can do it," Leia says. In addition to just helping Kelly through the birth as a midwife, she's been trying to use her Force powers to ease the baby along to help speed up the birthing process. With luck, this will be over soon.

Kelly slowly nods. The birth has been very painful for her, but now she's in the home stretch. She gathers up her strength and pushes with the next contraction. She cries out in pain before finally stopping and falling back against the bed.

"Alright. If you give me all the strength you can, this may be the last push. You can do this, Kelly," Leia says encouragingly.

"I believe in you," Luke says softly. Kelly looks at him in tears and nods, then looks back down. As she feels the next contraction, she pushes as hard as she can, screaming from the pain. She holds it as long as she can before she finally can push no more and falls back against the bed.

Almost as soon as she hits the pillow, Kelly hears something. A shrill scream of an infant. She looks down at Leia to see Leia holding a squirming, squalling baby, lying in a towel. Leia looks up at Kelly, a smile going from ear to ear. "Kelly, you have a son," she says, her voice full of emotion.

Leia stands up a bit and leans forward to lay the newborn baby boy on Kelly's chest. Kelly begins to cry as she holds her new son to her chest as if he is the source of her life. "Oh, my son," she whispers.

Luke leans in a bit closer. "I'm so proud of you, darling," he says.

Kelly looks up at her husband, the two sharing a kiss before Kelly looks back down at their new son. With tears streaming down her face, she whispers, "You're here. You're finally here…our little Ben."

And, with that, this story fully comes to an end.

At last, Luke and Kelly are parents. And just like I had Han and leia stick with the names Jacen and Jaina like in Legends, I decided to have the son of Luke named Ben in this.

I hope you liked this story and it lived up to the reputation of the Hammer Squadron. Now that this story is finished, I am going to refocus back in Terran Alliance: The Odyssey, which in case you don't know, is the story about the disappearance of the battlecruiser TAS Hood. That story will be a lot longer than this one, and will be the final EU story I will do before getting to the sequel trilogy story, which I'm super excited for. I'll try and get a chapter every day or two for the rest of my winter break so I can get started on the sequel trilogy story sooner.

Also, quick poll for all my readers. I plan on Jaina and Jacen portrayed by Billie Lourd and Adam Driver in the sequel trilogy story respectively. Let me know who you think would be a good choice to play a young adult Ben Skywalker.

Alright, with that, we come to the end. Please leave one final review and let me know what you thought about this chapter and this story, and stay tuned for more Terran Alliance content!
