Hello and welcome to this short one-shot! I had to write it. The idea came while writing my previous series.
Season 2 has finally become available for streaming here in Germany and seeing the full episodes in the correct order allowed me to see some mistakes I made in my previous story. For example: I thought Lara remembered her time being in Lana's body and therefore Jonathan. Or Tal-Rho's frustration and the true relationship to his mother.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this! It's just a short one, but I had to write it. This is dedicated to the moment in Season 2 I hate more than any other moment: Clark leaving Jonathan alone to give Jordan flying lessons. I never found Jon's reaction on YouTube. In the German dub, Jonathan's frustration was cut short.
I hoped something like that what I wrote will happen between them one day!
"Jonathan, wait!" Clark said but Jon didn't respond.
The boy just smashed the door close behind him. Clark could see it: Jonathan was mad! But Clark understood it. A short glimpse on the clock revealed that they were gone for hours. Much longer than he thought. No surprise that Jonathan already finished all the chores…
Clark went inside and saw Jonathan storming up the stairs.
"Wait! Jonathan, please!"
Finally, Jonathan stopped. Clark could hear his son's pulse being higher. The boy stood on the top of the stairs and looked down to his father. Clark was not able to decrypt his son's expression. It was like a weird mix of anger, disappointment, and frustration.
"What? Is the barn not clean enough?"
"No! Please, I want to talk to you!" Clark said.
Jon crossed his arms and went three steps down. It was obvious that he was angry.
"Talk about what?"
"Jonathan, I am… sorry. You didn't have to do all the chores alone!"
"Hmm…"
"No… I am serious! I didn't expect that it takes us so long up there!"
"When you have fun, the time passes quicker!" Jonathan said. The frustration audible clearly. "What should I say? I don't know how it is. I mean I just did everything you said, we would do together today! Why disturbing you while being busy with the more important things?"
"Jonathan, please… that's not the matter!"
"It's not? I… I was waiting for you two! You could have told me that you go? You could have told me that you will be away for hours? But no…"
"I know! I should have told you! And I should have told you to wait with the chores. You could had done other things instead!"
"And what? I can't leave! I can't fly! And it's not that I can go to town. A minute before you left, I told you that everyone hates me!" Jonathan said, coming closer to his father. "I was about to talk to you about how bad I feel. That no matter what I do, everyone keeps showing me their hate. You told me we would find a solution together. Just to leave me alone with my problems. You don't listen to me! You don't listen to me ever since we moved here! Because it is always more important for you to train Jordan! And now you proved that to me once again. So, sorry that I am not being able to do what he can."
Clark became pale. Jonathan turned away angrily and stormed up the stairs to go to the bathroom. After a second, Clark finally followed him and stopped him in front of the bathroom.
"Wait, Jonathan… I am really sorry! I This is nothing against you! Or your powerlessness!"
"You always just pretend to listen to me, and now you screwed me up! I was thinking the worst! Just to figure out that you had fun together. Am I invisible? Not worth to get listened, too?" Jonathan starts to cry. "If you want only powered children, adopt my doppelganger! He can fly, too!"
Clark was shocked. When he saw Jon-El flying, he only thought about Jordan and thought about if he can fly, too. He didn't think about Jonathan and if he would like to fly at least once.
"Jonathan, I never meant to…"
"I never had a problem with having no powers. I was fine with gotten spared, as you told it. But the more I think about it, I start to believe that you are happy that Jordan has powers and you can fly with him. And now there is my doppelganger, too. YOU KNOW WHAT? I REALLY WISH WE HAD MERGED!" Jonathan yelled. "Because you proved me today, that you only listen to me, when I have powers! And now get out of my way and tell Jordan's grandmother about his flying! Because I am just the weak one, who doesn't matter and who is dealing alone with your beloved farm! I give up to try to get your attention! I see where your priorities are!"
Jonathan smashed the bathroom door close so hard, that the whole house was vibrating. Clark, visibly shaken by Jonathan's words, tried to keep his composure. In the meantime, he could hear Jonathan start sobbing…
"Jonathan, I never wanted to let you feel left out. And I am really sorry for leaving you alone today."
"FLY AWAY AND DO YOUR THING!" Jonathan screamed when he briefly opened the door again and then smashed it close again.
"This isn't our thing… we…"
"You went alone with Jordan to your fortress! You only introduced him to your parents! While I got told to be the weak one and got punished for hiding Jordan's so called talent, you allowed Jordan to cheat with his powers. I gave up everything for this move and lost everything. And since you figured out that I have no powers, I am not existing anymore for you!" Jonathan yelled threw the closed door. "I can't remember that we ever spend a real day together that had nothing to do with chores or sitting on the bench at practice while most of the team took XK! I really wish that this fucking Krypton never existed! No powers, no XK, no pain…"
Both Clark and Jordan could hear Jonathan collapsing on the ground and starting to sob even harder. Suddenly Clark felt like the biggest idiot.
Jonathan was right: He wasn't there for him! He didn't support him! He never introduced him to his grandparents! They really never spend time together… Jonathan must really think that he prefers Jordan, just because he has powers.
"Jonathan, I…" Clark began when suddenly the sound of Sam's ELT. Jordan could hear it, too. Both looked on each other in fear. Something was going on. "…Stay with your brother!"
That was the last Clark said, before speeding away.
Jordan meanwhile looked on the closed bathroom-door. He could hear the water running. And his brother crying. Carefully he knocked on the door.
"Jonathan!"
"Leave me alone!"
"Can we talk?"
"Fly away!"
"No! Please… I am sorry, bro! I wasn't thinking… Sorry that you had to do all the chores alone. You know… shall… shall I bring you to grandma?"
Suddenly the door opened, and Jonathan looked on his brother with crossed arms and an poisonous glare.
"For what?"
"You never met her! It's overdue! She is really nice!"
"Did she ever ask for me? Does she even know that I exist?"
Jordan suddenly became pale. He tried to remember. But he couldn't remember that he ever heard his father talking about Jonathan with her.
"Tell me the truth, Jordan!" Jon said harshly. "Does she even know about me?"
Everything Jordan was able to do was shaking his head while a tear ran down his face.
"I don't know!"
"See! Safe your powers!"
After that, Jon smashed the door close to take the shower he so urgently wanted.
Jordan put his head on the door to listen his brother crying under the shower. Suddenly his joy about being able to fly was gone…
I hope you liked it! Reviews and constructive critics are always appreciated.
