Originally planned to be a One-Shot, the response to this story was so big, that I had to add a bonus-chapter. My guess on what the conversation between Jonathan and Jordan could have looked like after Clark left.

I remembered that I wrote something similar to the barn-scene, long before the episode was aired.

In my story 'Doubt' Jonathan is flown by Clark to Europe, after a Moldavian woman claims to be his real mother, and gets forgotten in a Moldavian village, only seconds after he is about to pour out his heart to him. And in Moldova everyone welcomes him with open arms. And when Clark returns, Jonathan was convinced that he got really switched at birth. I suddenly realized the similarities between my own story and the episode and knew back then, if Clark ever flies away when Jonathan is talking about his feelings it will ruin their relationship even more.

Jordan put his head against the bathroom-door, listening to the running water, the humming of the water heater and to Jon's heartbeat that was as upset as it was before he locked himself in.

"Get away, Jordan! I know you are out there!" Jon yelled when the water turned off.

Jordan shied away from the door. Still not getting everything out of his head his brother said. But he knew that Jon had a reason to be upset. If he was honest to himself, they left him behind today to have fun while Jon was alone. If Jordan would have been left behind alone, he would be upset, too. He didn't consider that.

After several minutes of listening to Jon's upset heartbeat, the water turned off and Jon left the shower.

"Jordan, leave me alone!" his brother yelled threw the closed door.

"Where do you know that… I mean… Jon, I am sorry! Okay! Sorry that you had to do all chores alone!"

"How did you convince dad to forget about me, this time?" Jonathan asked upset.

"What do you mean with that?"

"AWWW…" Jon only moaned, while Jordan could hear him using a towel and putting on clean clothes again.

Normally he would focus on his dad. Trying to figure out what happened and why Sam's ELT was activated. With the current crisis going on, there had to be a reason. But Jordan had now only worried for his brother.

"Jon… please! What did you mean with that?"

Finally, the door opened and his brother stood in front of him with crossed arms. Fresh showered and still with wet hair.

"You don't get it, don't you?"

"No, what?"

"Aww… Do you know what he told me, just a minute before you two left for four hours to have fun?"

Jordan only shrugged.

"He… He told me… he…" Jonathan was extremely upset. "He told me that he will be always there for me if I need him. That we find a solution for my problems. For me and for you! Just to… He left a minute after I told him how bad I feel… and for what? To have fun with you!"

"Are you jealous on me?"

"I was never jealous!" Jon said. "But the more powers you get, I feel like dad wants me to be jealous on you! And being ashamed for having no powers! And honestly: Right now, I am ashamed!"

Jon stormed away and towards his room. Jordan followed him and grabbed his brother's arm to stop him.

"Hey, Jon… Please, tell me the truth! What is really going on?" Jordan asked.

Jonathan turned around again and looked on his brother angrily.

"It's like I said… For dad, I am not existing anymore! Even before the X-K it felt like I am not important enough to him. And today, just proved that he cares more about your powers than about my problems."

"Hey, sorry bro! I was…"

"How did you did it? How did you let him forget that I was home waiting for four hours? Was it Sarah again?"

"Yes!" Jordan reluctantly agreed. "I tried to talk to her mom but it didn't work. And he tried to cheer me up!"

"At least you get any attention from him? I am sure if tell him that someone tried to kill me, you will get your own fortress! If I tell him that I am sick, you will get your own suit!"

Jonathan tried to leave again but Jordan once again grabbed him by his arm to stop him.

"Hey, I am sorry! Yeah… that was really shitty to leave you behind. That was not right!"

"Well, how would you react if I got the powers and would always leave you behind on your own?"

After that Jordan let off his brother's arm and became pale. He often thought how things would have developed if Jonathan would had been the one with the powers. Or what would have happened if none of them got powers or if they both got them? But he knew for sure: If Jon and their father would have left to go flying while he is alone doing chores and brooding about his problems, he would had reacted much worse than Jon!

"I would be furious!"

"And I must be what everyone expects from me! Be the easy one who never asks for anything! It's the best to give up trying! For Mom and Dad, you will always be the favorite!"

"Please, don't say that!" Jordan said, on the verge of bursting out in tears.

"They endlessly tell you how proud they are on you! Dad said it, right a few minutes ago! I didn't need superhearing to hear how proud he is on you for being like him? You skive the chores, and you were rewarded! You… you beat up drug-dealers, you fight superpowered villains, you safe people! Of course, they are proud on you! I am proud on you, too! Seriously! But there seems to be nothing in the world I can do to make them proud on me, too. Mom doesn't answer my calls all day! And grandpa didn't even want me in the training as if I am not good enough to keep on with anyone."

"WOAH… Wait! This is the reason you took the X-K, right?" Jordan said. Jonathan became pale before his face turned deeply red. "It had nothing to do with Timmy or with the football team! You… you were really jealous on me and my powers? Admit it!"

Jonathan's face turned even redder.

"That's silly!" Jon said with a much more upset voice.

"Yeah, you were mad that grandpa rather trains me, than spending time with you, too! That's why you took it. And you were mad that Dad always takes me to the fortress and not you! Come on… you can admit it to me! I am not blaming you for anything! I would be mad and jealous, too!"

"Jealous on what? That you got told about Krypton? That you got a grandfather after grandma died? That you got a grandmother, you are allowed to see? That you got a father, who likes to spend time with you and not disappoints you ever and ever again?" Jonathan starts to cry again. "You… you got everything you wanted ever since we moved here! And what do I get? Chores!

"Not everything, Jon! I…"

"And you wailed when you got told that you will be only one percent like dad! One percent is still better than nothing!"

Jordan became pensive.

"Did the hologram in dad's fortress even know that I am existing? Or does our grandma even know about me? Or why else he always avoided to take me to one of them at any cost? But why I even ask you… they are not ashamed of you! You are Superboy! You are the pride of the family! And I am just the human who messes up everything and who needs to get saved all the time! And dad said it before: I am the shame of this family!"

Jonathan was about to smash the door to his room close, but Jordan held it open.

"You are much more than that, Jon!" Jordan said. "You… you are much stronger than me! You helped me to get stronger. I was a nervous wreck and you saved me from freaking out and loosing my mind! Without you… I would be Superloser and not Superboy! You are so self-sacrificing! You were for me when I got powers! You were for mom and dad when they moved us out here! You… you were for Candice when she was in trouble!"

"But I wasn't when my doppelganger beat you up!" Jonathan said. "I was just a scared little child that hid behind his big brother! And now, leave me alone! I am sure, dad takes you to your grandma as soon as he is back."

"She is your grandma, too!" Jordan said while Jonathan smashed the door close.

"Really? He never mentioned that! Congratulations to your flying!" Jonathan said when he briefly opened the door again but then closed it again.

Jordan walked away and went downstairs. Hearing his brother trying to calm down and keeping his composure. And asking himself how he can make amends for it. It was not like the other times! Jonathan had a reason to be mad. This was a whole new level of humiliation! Maybe that's why everything blurted out of his brother this time! And Jordan will remember his father about this as soon as he is back.

Both boys had no clue, that their father was on the verge of death now! And that, as soon as their mother calls them and tells them that their father is in coma, both will be too worried about their dad to think about today anymore!

I finished watching all episodes in full lenght this time. I realized the German dub really toned down Jonathan's frustration and Clark's reactions. I think its sad that the show didn't give Jonathan a chance to tell his father how he feels really. I hope season 3 will show us that they really work on their issues.
