So this is now definetely the final chapter! I was very suprised by the hype this one-shot caused. But it allowed me to add some scenes I originally wanted to add in my previous stories.

It was a weird a mix of feelings, Jonathan was not able to understand.

First there was his new truck. He would have guessed that 'Uncle Tal' only buys one for Jordan. Jordan is the one with the powers and who saved him in space. Jordan was the one he had more respect of and who was proud of being Kryptonian. Unlike Jonathan, who knew absolutely nothing about that place, what Tal would see as an offense.

Then there was the boat-trip. A vacation was nothing unusual. It was something even Superman would need. Especially after the latest crisis. That the boat was obviously for him he was convinced about. So his father does not have to carry him and his mother at the same time, as Jordan was not experienced enough to fly with a passenger.

But the without doubt, greatest surprise was the revelation of a new fortress, his father was going to build right here. In the middle of the ocean. Far away from any coast! Far away from any ship-routes! A place only people, with the ability to fly can reach!

That's what he said to his father. It was his first mind and the first thing everyone would think about this. But much to his surprise his father turned to him and told him it is for everyone. Including him! Because his grandmother asked for him!

It felt like a dream! A truck, a trip, a fortress, and his grandmother asking for him. Everything seemed too surreal. Even if it was impressive to witness the new fortress to grow out of the sea. Something inside Jonathan told him to remain careful. To don't keep the expectations too high…

The fortress looked impressive. And so totally not like Jonathan imagined it. After his father secured the boat, Jordan and Lois start to explore it from outside. Walking around the pathway and the terrace that were created. And Jonathan followed his father up the stairs that led from the pier-like rock to the opening in the wall that seemed to be the main entrance.

"I am keen to know what you think! Your grandmother suggested to… ehm… Jonathan? Are you okay?"

Clark mentioned that Jonathan stopped right in front of the entrance. The boy was pale. Looking scared and worried.

"What's wrong?" Clark asked. "Jonathan, are you nervous?"

"Why now?" the boy asked. His voice so dangerously low and calm. Like Lois' voice when was mad on herself. He was definitely her son, too. "Why not before? And why here?"

Clark went closer to his son again. Lois and Jordan were on the other side of the island and didn't listen or see.

"You… you were right!" Clark began. "With everything! And I spend a lot of time thinking about what happened ever since you figured out who I am. About… the promises I made to you and about everything you gave up!"

"Is this some kind of pathetic attempt to appease me?" Jon asked with trembling voice.

"No! It is to show you that you are a part of this family! I was… we all were very unfair towards you! We were so fixed on you being the easy one. The supportive and selfless one! That burden you must feel to be the powerless child must be awful!"

"What a surprise?" Jon responded sarcastically.

"I won't pretend that I fully understand you. Because I don't! I really don't know how it is to be you! Or what it means to have me as your father or a superpowered brother?"

"You have no clue how I feel!" Jonathan finally said.

"Why, you never told us how you feel?" Clark asked.

A tear ran down Jonathan's face. "I… I don't know… I think I was just too shocked or too surprised by the whole revelation! And… and when you said we're going to move to Smallville… to spend more time together, to grow together… I hoped… we could really do that!"

"It was really my plan! I swear!"

"You were always absent, and I hoped… I hoped we would really spend time together. And… and I knew that grandma wanted me to live on the farm, too. I think I mainly did it for her! To accept her last wish!"

"You miss her more than everyone else, I guess? I do so, too! I wish she would have been presented to help you adapting!"

"I… guess I expected really something new. A new start, new experience… but… instead…"

"You can tell me!" his father said when Jonathan stuttered much more.

"But everything became so… so odd… First you send me to school to lie about Jordan's whereabouts while you take him to your fortress! Then everyone starts to show me that I am not welcomed in Smallville while Jordan only wails to be not like you? First, I was glad to have no powers! Thinking how Jordan suffered and how you always apologized or felt guilty whenever his body ran out of control! But, over the time… when he learned to control it better and got more powers and got stronger… you grew so close together! Jordan got more self-confident and I… I felt… felt…"

"Left out! Shaked off!" Clark answered for him.

"I was ashamed! I… I thought… time will come you ask me if I want to meet your father… or… or… spend time with me, too… but… I felt like it was more important to you to train your successor. Jordan became stronger and stronger and the more I felt left out the more I tried to focus on other things… but… but then Jordan joined the team and became a star with his powers. Then Tag Harris got powers and Timmy Ryan and the others start to get powers with X-K and it… it was like I was expected to be the loser who gets screwed up and… and…"

Clark went closer when he saw that Jonathan was bursting out in tears again and gave him a hug.

"Oh, Jonathan… I am so sorry! I should have listened to you better! I shouldn't have let you feel left out!"

"Why? Why?"

"I was dumb! Stupid and reckless!" Clark said.

"I… I ruined everything! With the X-K and with you and… I try to do everything! But no matter what I do, I feel like I am not enough! Then grandpa send me away because I am not strong enough to get training, as if I am supposed to be an eternal damsel in distress, Jordan always needs to safe… you can't imagine how humiliated I was when I was send away to get water…"

"You are not damsel in distress! You are not!" Clark tried to reassure him.

"Jordan always needs to safe me! I can't do anything!" Jonathan cried. "The… the evening I was late… from my… from my first day at the store… Candice feared the guy she got the X-K from, so I walked her home. But he attacked us. He was full of X-K and then Jordan came and had to safe us and you were so mad on me again for being late…"

"And I am so sorry for it! I know you only wanted to protect her!"

"And then you were gone! And when you returned you were mad on me again and you didn't want to listen to me! And then there was my doppelganger, and you spend time with him, and he said things, and I saw his memories when he tried to merge with me and… everyone keeps telling Jordan how proud everyone is on him…" Jonathan said with more tears in his eyes.

"I am proud of you, too!"

"On what? You left to have fun with Jordan! You told him you are proud on him when you came back and didn't thank me for doing the chores." Jonathan cried. "And now… you… you know I can't get here on my own!"

"I know! Yet! But… let me explain you! Your grandmother… really wants to meet you! She asked for you before and I brought shame over my birthname by excluding you from this part of your heritage. I told her everything and believe me… she is really mad on me for it! You are the main reason we created this place!"

"R… Really?"

"Yes! After I told your grandmother everything, she suggested this place for all of us! And I mean for really everyone. I understand your concerns! Why should I create a fortress you and your mother can only reach by asking me to fly you? I thought about the mines, or the farm! But it would be really difficult to explain the neighbors why there is suddenly a mountain on our property!"

Jonathan had to smirk. "I guess there would be a bit too much to explain."

"But let me tell you… I will never ever be bothered when you ask me to bring you here! Your brother won't eighter as soon as he is better at flying! You are my son, too! And… who knows… you could be able to fly, too one day!"

Jonathan looked on his father with big eyes and made a face as if he got just slapped.

"You… you tell me that now? Ever since… ever since Jordan has powers, you… never ever someone told me I could get powers!"

"You are still half-Kryptonian!"

"But… I am the human one?"

"You are… your brother is, too! But you are Kyptonian, too! Like him! Not bringing you to my fortress and introduce you to your own grandfather was a huge and unforgivable mistake I made. You… you came to the funeral I held for your grandfather despite you never met him."

"Hmm… I never met him, but he was still… well… technically he was still my grandfather!"

"And I know now better that… I should have taken you to the fortress, too back then because… your brother developed differently than your grandfather predicted. And I can't be sure that it is the same for you. You could be as strong as your brother, and you don't know it. I wish I could turn back time! Telling you and your brother everything earlier. Just the way you two figuring out my secret was not correct! It was… ehm…"

"Forced!?" Jonathan said.

"Yeah… and that was not correct! A forced truth is never better than an honest truth."

"Hmm… I think… we would have figured out that day anyway! I mean… how else you could have explained his ocular outburst later?"

"I think so! But anyway, I should have told you on my own! And earlier! But most of all… I should have included you in everything better. You are a strong, self-confident, and brave young man, Jonathan! You have a lot of potential! You know… If you would had been the one who got the powers, I would bet you would have handled them with ease. And… I know… you would have reminded me to take your brother to the fortress, too."

"I am not mad on Jordan for it anymore! He had a lot of trouble in the past! It was great to see him happy! And I am proud on him! He is a hero!"

"You are a hero, too! You just don't know it yet!" Clark said, giving his son another hug. "You saved my life, you helped your brother, you saved your mom! You are truly a hero! Can you ever forgive me?"

"What?"

"For everything?"

"It still feels so surreal!"

"So… then are you… ready to meet your grandmother?"

"Does she really want to see me?" Jonathan asked scared. Clark could hear the fear.

"Not only that! She wants to see you! She wants to learn about you! She wants to teach you so many things! And I… Don't blame yourself that I didn't introduce you to her before! That's all my fault! It was my mistake! So, are you ready?"

Clark reached out his hand. Nervously Jonathan took his father's hand and was led inside.

It was the first time ever, Jonathan got to see a fortress.

"You like it?" Clark asked.

"It's not like I imagined!" Jonathan murmured and looked around. "But it is amazing!"

The new fortress smelled like sea and was still wet, as it just emerged from the ocean a couple of minutes ago. But Jon could imagine that it will be even more awesome as soon as everything is dry.

His father meanwhile explained him the place. That it was full of high-tech technology in its walls. Far beyond that was human technology reached so far. And then Clark led Jonathan to a podium.

"This is the heart of the fortress. You must imagine this whole place as a giant super-computer. And this is your grandmother!" Clark said presenting Lara's crystal to Jonathan.

"The brain of this place!" Jonathan realized.

"Exactly! Would you honor us?" Clark offered, handling the crystal to Jonathan.

A second later Lois and Jordan arrived and joined them. Witnessing Clark handling the crystal to Jonathan to give him the honor to bring this place to life.

Nervously, Jonathan took the crystal. Feeling the power in it and in this place, when he (without asking his father before) immediately found the right spot to insert it.

In awe, everyone watched the room coming to life and getting brighter. The walls began to sparkle colorful. Suddenly the remaining water vanished, and the room became warm and cozy. And right in front of Jonathan, suddenly the holographic image of Lara appeared.

"Jon-El, my dear grandson… I am so happy to finally meet you!"

"Are… are you, my grandmother?" Jonathan asked astonished. It was incredible. He heard about the holographs before but seeing it life was much better.

"Yes, I am! And I am so happy, that we finally met!" Lara said, coming closer and giving Jon a hug.

"Wow… you… you can touch people?! I mean… That's…" Jon was surprised.

"A new feature of this place!" Lara said before turning to Clark. "Kal, you never mentioned how much he looks like your grandfather Seg-El! I can't wait learn more about you! Your father told me so many good things about you."

"It is nice to meet you, too grandmother! I… I am excited to learn about you, too!" Jonathan said.

"You are truly your father's son!" Lara continued. "I see it, even without scanning you!"

"Scanning?"

"Your father told me the whole truth! And I am sorry that you felt left out or not Kryptonian just because your powers haven't shown up yet."

"Yet?" Jonathan was surprised to hear that.

"When you allow me, I would like to perform a scan on you to figure out the reason for it!"

Confused, Jonathan looked to his family. Everyone gave him a reassuring smile.

"It's overdue!" Jordan said, giving him thumbs up.

Jonathan had to think about that day again when Jordan thought that he gets powers. How happy and excited his brother was. It was true excitement and true happiness back then. Jonathan thought about it. He wanted a normal life…

But if he was honest to himself, his life was never normal! And it would never be normal with his father being Superman and his mother being an investigative journalist who was only one step away from finding the next dangerous criminal who comes after her.

"I think… Honestly, I wanted to ask for this when Dad took Jordan to grandpa for the first time!" Jonathan confessed with an awkward smile. "I think it's time to overcome my pride…"

"Then let's start!" Lara said with a bright smile.

And so, everyone watched the lights changing and Jonathan being scanned by his Kryptonian grandmother, for the very first time! Finally learning the reason, why his powers hasn't shown up yet!

The End!

I wanna thank everyone who left comments and who motivated me to continue this one! And I want to apologize to everyone who hoped, I would change the location of the fortress to make it easier for Jon to reach it. I belong to the 'give-Jonathan-powers-club' and I hope they reveal someday the true reason for his powerlessness. So, the scan at the end hopefully reveals that Jonathan will be part of something bigger one day.
