Distance
Sasuke left the village without looking back. He had been there for three days and now it was time for him to continue his journey. Since he had left Konoha, it was his daily life. He arrived in a village, stayed a few days, helped the inhabitants and left.
He had left Konoha two month ago. And even if he was the one who had decided to go on his journey of redemption, he felt a lack. He knew what was the cause of this lack. It was Sakura. After the war, when he had been a prisoner, Kakashi had chosen Sakura to be his medic. Every day, she visited him to nurse his arm and his eyes. She did not just take care of him, she talked to him, telling him about her daily life, so that he did not feel alone. Thanks to her, his days in this cell were more bearable.
After his trial, he stayed in Konoha for a while. Every day he spent them with Sakura. He had gotten used to her presence and when she was not there, he could not wait to see her again.
He had always had feelings for her, but during his time in Konoha, he had come to realize that what he thought was childhood sweetheart was true love. He was in love with Sakura.
When she asked him to leave with him, he had listened to his head and not his heart. He had to make this journey alone to atone for his faults. Yet, the further he got away from Konoha, the more he missed Sakura. So to fill this lack he felt, he wrote her a letter. It was something very simple. He wrote to her that his journey was going well and he asked her how she was doing. He felt a bit stupid to have written this kind of thing, he had never been very good at it.
It had been two days since he sent the letter and he was eagerly awaiting Sakura's response. After all, that was what you felt when you loved someone.

Sasuke was leaning against a tree. He had been traveling all morning. He had decided to stop for lunch before continuing his journey. He saw a shadow pass over his head. He looked up and saw his falcon arrive. He stretched out his arm and the bird landed on it. Sasuke smiled when he saw a letter tied to his paw.
This letter was the first of their correspondence that would last until Sasuke returned to Konoha. Thanks to this, he felt like the distance between him and Sakura was shorter.
The end
