Chapter 5: Revenge of the Devas
As night once again blanketed the skies of Shinjuku and within one of the more suspicious of alleyways, a lone policewoman stood proudly as she looked over the beaten forms of a group of knocked out thugs.
Handcuffed and preparing the criminals for transport, the police woman took a brief moment to just kick back against the wall and to relax.
Taking in the appearance of the policewoman, whose blonde hair was set in a long ponytail at the back, she also has piercing and powerful blue eyes.
Wearing the standard issued officer's uniform, which consisted of an officer's cap atop her head, a black police top cover up her mature body and alongside a small black skirt which ended above her knees, this left her looking as quite a beautiful and elegant woman.
Dragging one of the thugs to her car and placing them in the back, the policewoman then heard the sound of a motorbike's engine revving, which grew louder and louder.
Knowing that the criminals weren't going anywhere anytime soon, the policewoman turned to face the driver, to express a little surprise to see a face she hadn't seen in ages.
But remaining as a professional, she told her partner. "You may get going. Take them to jail. I'll catch up shortly."
Nodding to the officer's words and doing as they were told, the second officer drove off with the prisoners, leaving the policewoman and the mysterious biker and his passenger alone.
Turning to face the owner and his passenger of the motorcycle and to see Guilmon and Renamon upon the vehicle, the blonde remained calm as the Digimon Knights removed themselves from off of the seat and approached the officer.
"Alice McCoy, it's good to see you again." Renamon said, expressing her familiar respect and disciplined tone.
"I feel the same way, Renamon. It has been a while since we last met." Alice said with a small smile as she was quite pleased to see Guilmon and Renamon, before found she had to ask. "And where are the others?"
"Right here!" Terriermon called happily as the rabbit-like Digimon and, who was accompanied by Lopmon swooped down before them, accompanied by Impmon, who rode Behemoth into the alleyway, Guardromon, Cyberdramon and Marineangemon in tow.
Among the more familiar of faces Alice recognized, she also took notice of Dawnmon, Fillymon and BlackGatomon, who made their own dramatic entrances and landed from off atop of the nearby building.
Although sharing in the positive mood to their reunion, but knowing time was crucial, Impmon told Alice. "Listen, Alice, we need to talk. We need your help against Takashi Mishima."
"I had a feeling you'd bring that up." Alice said with a small sigh, before telling Guilmon and the others. "I have long suspected Mishima having some ties with the Syndicate, and I have spent hours trying to find any ways of exposing him."
Glad to have Alice as another ally on their side, Guilmon then said. "We're glad to know you're on the case which is why we were hoping you could help us."
"I'll do whatever I can to help." Alice said in reply, the blonde expressing her empathy for the Digimon and adding with a soft care in her voice. "I am sorry about the loss of Takato and the others. They shouldn't have had go out in such a horrible way. I really wish they were still alive."
"And we all feel the same." Lopmon replied, which caused Guilmon and the other Digimon Knights to nod in agreement.
"Well, we beg to differ!" A dark and wicked voice which the Digimon Knights immediately recognised from their pasts.
As a dark portal opened before them, the four former Deva Digimon, Mihiramon, Majiramon, Pajiramon and Vajramon revealed themselves.
"You four!" Cyberdramon said with a growing and hostile snarl in his voice. "I should've guessed you monsters would return, especially after I crushed you, Majiramon!"
Ignoring the stinging barb of Cyberdramon's words, Majiramon said back, expressing his clear resentment. "You might've beaten me in the past, but it won't be so easy without your human partner to power you up!"
Angered himself and staring toward the former Deva Digimon, Guilmon said with a growing anger and hatred. "I heard Indramon is behind this Syndicate. Even still why? What purpose does this serve? Revenge? Against me and my friends?"
"A correct statement, dinosaur. Our former masters apparently grew to like you due to the fact you saved the Digital World from both the D-Reaper and the Black Digimon, so they foolishly banished us for terrorizing the Real World. But now... we are free to do what we want, we can even finally get our revenge on you traitors!" Mihiramon told Guilmon and the others.
"We'd like to see you try!" Dawnmon said back.
"Alice, stay back!" Terriermon warned as he and Lopmon stood before the blonde.
"Without Dobermon, you are vulnerable!" Lopmon added, expressing her own concerns toward Alice and too wishing to keep her protected.
However, Alice remained calm and just said in reply. "I wouldn't say that." Standing her ground looking at the former devas.
"Lopmon, you are a traitor to the Devas and for your betrayal we should punish you the most for the backstab you gave us all!" Majiramon told the petite rabbit-like Digimon, only to then change his attitude and tell the former rabbit Deva. "However we debated and now that your Tamer is dead, we will give you a second chance. You have the honor of re-joining us as a Deva once more, or you can join these pathetic excuses for digimon and wind up destroyed alongside them!"
"After what you did to Suzie, to Henry and all of our friends, you can forget it!" Lopmon said with a great fury in her voice. "I'll never join the Syndicate! I'd rather die than wind up as your puppet!"
Sharing in Majiramon's attempt to return Lopmon to their fold, Vajiramon tried his hand to win Renamon over.
"It's a true shame that you choose to protect humanity, little fox." The former Deva told Renamon. "Sadly though now the circumstances are different. Without your human partner, you cannot do much against me. I would offer you the chance to join us, but I know you're too foolish to see the power we can offer you."
"We'll see about that!" Renamon said back as she, Guilmon and Terriermon withdraw their partner's D-Powers, which shone with the familiar and powerful light of Digivolution.
"Guilmon Digivolve to... Growlmon!" The red dinosaur Digimon announced, before advancing another stage into his path of Digivolution and bellowing. "Growlmon Matrix Digivolve to... WarGrowlmon!"
Quick to follow in WarGrowlmon's Digivolution, Terriermon and Renamon allowed the energies to alter their bodies, the pair too announcing their Champion and Ultimate Level forms.
"Terriermon Digivolve to... Gargomon! Gargomon Matrix Digivolve to... Rapidmon!"
"Renamon Digivolve to... Kyubimon! Kyubimon Matrix Digivolve to... Taomon!"
Already at his Ultimate stage of Digivolution, Cyberdramon joined WarGrowlmon, Rapidmon and Taomon as to prepare themselves to confront the dragon Deva.
With the multitude of Ultimate Level Digimon ready to fight, the former Devas glared toward their foes.
"So you can still Digivolve even without your humans?" Mihiramon questioned. "Well that's rather intriguing" Yet despite this he just sounded interested slightly and didn't seem to flinch at all.
"However... Legionaries, leave these four to us and go deal with the others!" The dragon Deva then commanded, his call causing a giant legion of Tyrannomon to show themselves and charge toward the Digimon Knights.
Despite the mass onslaught of Tyrannomon against them, the Digimon Knights remained strong as Impmon, Guardromon, Dawnmon and Fillymon stood united.
"Leave these big chumps to us! We'll let you handle the Devas!" The imp-like Digimon said with a fair authority in his voice, which Guardromon, Dawnmon and Fillymon followed without question.
Reacting to the Digimon Knights and their further rebellion against the their superiors, the Tyrannomon struck back, unleashing an onslaught of flames from their Fire Breath attack.
Despite their numbers however, Impmon, Guardromon, Dawnmon and Fillymon all swept around, avoiding the onslaught against them.
"Ember Sparks!"
Declaring the name of her unique attack, Dawnmon summoned a collection of small embers that popped upon contract against the streams of flame opposing her and her allies, her power even cutting through several of the blasts of flame and striking down the Tyrannomon horde.
"Gem Cutter!"
Following Dawnmon, Fillymon summoned forth a series of diamonds which bore similarities within their appearance to Renamon's Diamond Storm attack.
However, unlike Renamon, Fillymon's attack involved complete finely sharpened gems as opposed to Renamon's leaf-like shards, the gems held a multicoloured shade within their appearance as they shot through the air and cut down more of the Tyrannomon.
"Bada Boom!" Impmon announced, igniting the tips of his fingers on fire which he then threw upon the Tyrannomon, his power blasting back the Champion Level Digimon.
While Impmon's team succeeded in holding back the Tyrannomon, WarGrowlmon's team fought valiantly against the Devas.
"Thunder Stomp!"
Bringing her front hooves up and slamming them upon the ground, Pajiramon's power created a shockwave that tore throughout the area, heading straight for Rapidmon.
Quick to react, Rapidmon leapt over the shockwave, brought up his turret mounted arms and prepared his counterattack.
"Rapid Fire!" Rapidmon called as he cast forth a series of missiles from out of his arms, the onslaught Pajiramon managed to repel with a barrage of arrows from her crossbow.
Struggling against Pajiramon, Taomon found her opponent, Vajramon, was just as strong as she remembered.
Sweeping his blade around, which clashed against Taomon's paintbrush, the shaman Digimon just managed to repel her enemy.
"Terra Blade!" Vajramon bellowed.
Bringing up his frontal hooves and then smashing them upon the ground, accompanied by his twin Deva Blades, the sheer power generated a barrage of fissures that tore through the ground and around Taomon.
"Talisman Strike!" Taomon called in retaliation.
Sweeping her paintbrush around and summoning an illuminated incantation, the mystical energies Taomon generated acted as a shield, preventing Vajramon from harming her.
Fighting Cyberdramon as to get his deserved revenge, Majiramon clashed against the cybernetic Digimon.
"Flaming Arrowheads!" The dragon Digimon declared as he fired forth a group of flaming arrows upon Cyberdramon, who countered the onslaught as his claws cut through Majiramon's arrows and close in on his opponent.
"Desolation Claw!" Cyberdramon bellowed as he raked his claws toward Majiramon, but found his attack halted by Majiramon's elongated claws.
Lastly and from his own position, WarGrowlmon found Mihiramon proved to be a fearsome opponent, a Digimon of great strength and power. However WarGrowlmon was no slouch himself as he readied his attack.
"Atomic Blaster!" WarGrowlmon announced as he fired of a set of radioactive blasts from the gun ports set upon his chest armour, which Mihiramon countered with his Samurai Tiger Tail attack, cutting clean through WarGrowlmon's energy and leaving the pair clashing against one another.
From their respective battles, the former Devas glared upon their enemies, who proved just as strong and as annoying as they remembered.
"Tch. You're still as resilient as ever!" Mihiramon said with a bitter snarl.
"However, let's see what happen when your new human friend dies!" The tiger Deva then said wickedly.
Overhearing hearing Mihiramon's words, Majiramon pushed Cyberdramon aside and turned his crossbow toward the surviving Digimon Tamer.
"Alice!" WarGrowlmon called in warning and concern, his fear growing to see Majiramon fire off another blazing arrow toward the blonde.
Closing in on her and before the attack could make any contact with her, BlackGatomon leapt before Alice, wrapped her arms around the Digimon Tamer and quickly escorted her out of harm's range.
Grateful toward her the dark furred Digimon and her selfless heroics, Alice expressed her gratitude.
"Thanka for the save, BlackGatomon." She said with a kind smile, which caused BlackGatomon to smile back.
"I am just glad to see you're unharmed." The Dark Digimon said with a continued relief in her voice.
Although glad to know Alice was alright but expressing an understandable confusion, Impmon had to ask. "What's goin' on, Alice? Do you know BlackGatomon?"
Nodding in reply, Alice then told Impmon and the others. "BlackGatomon... is my new Digimon partner."
"WWWWHHHHAAAATTTTTT?!" The Knight Digimon yelled in a shared surprise and shock, which caused BlackGatomon to grin a little.
"It's true. I am Alice's Digimon partner and she's my Tamer." BlackGatomon said with a growing smirk and a playful wink.
Stunned from her position, but managing to regain some control over her emotions, Taomon questioned. "Your human partner is Alice? But I thought Dobermon was your Digimon partner."
Solemn to the mention of her lost Digimon partner, Alice remained strong.
"I still miss Dobermon, but after his sacrifice to give you the power you needed to confront the D-Reaper, I wandered the streets alone..." The blonde began to say, recalling the events which had lead to her uniting with BlackGatomon.
The younger Alice walked alone in the streets, solemn and saddened deeply by Dobermon's sacrifice.
"I am upset by Dobermon's loss, but he did what he could to save our world. I am proud of him, but there's a sadness still grasping at my chest..."
Removing herself from her darker of thoughts, Alice then heard a noise, a saddened cry which directed her toward a smaller and abandoned BlackGatomon as she slowly and cautiously removed herself from out of the darkness of the nearby alley bins.
Feeling empathetic and feeling her heart breaking at seeing the state of the dark furred feline, Alice slowly approached BlackGatomon.
Sliding down to her knees and keeping her movements slow as to keep BlackGatomon calm, Alice guided the bruised up Digimon upon her lap.
Gently stroking around her head and back, this soft affection confused BlackGatomon at first, before she purred softly and welcomed Alice's kindness, who gazed cutely upon the blonde.
While she was enjoying the comforting petting welcomed by the human, BlackGatomon could sense a sadness within Alice, which BlackGatomon knew she had to return this kindness and return this comfort, who rested her paws upon Alice's thighs.
"That is where I met BlackGatomon and since then, after some bonding, she gladly took over Dobermon's place as my partner." The present Alice narrated. "Many years later, we gained a strong bond, we trained together and learnt to trust each other. I became a police woman and BlackGatomon became the leader of the resistance."
"So that is why BlackGatomon knew so much about us." WarGrowlmon said, expressing the thoughts now surfacing within his head. "And to think, a BlackDigimon would wind up as your new Digimon partner."
"I have been watching you all ever since you returned to the Real World. The loss of your partners, the forming of the Knights, your training and your battles with the Syndicate. Believe me, it was all to study you and to see how you work as a team." BlackGatomon then said, but found Alice grinning her way.
"And that is why you're stalking Guilmon and Renamon?" The Digimon Tamer teased, which caused BlackGatomon to blush deeply.
"Alice, it's not stalking if it gets results. And I'm the one who does the teasing around here." BlackGatomon told her human partner.
"So there are actually Digimon Tamers who survived our wrath?" Vajiramon questioned, before expressing a further savagery in his tone. "It doesn't matter because we'll crush you along with these traitors to the Digital World!"
"I don't think so!" Alice said defiantly as she held up her black coloured D-Power and proceeded to call out with a further might and power in her voice. "Biomerge Activate!"
The screen of her D-Power shining with a powerful black light, Alice and BlackGatomon's bodies were then consumed by the energies as their separate beings quickly merged into one entity.
"BlackGatomon Biomerge to..." BlackGatomon began to declare as she took the lead of the powerful way a human and their Digimon partner could achieve the phenomenon of Digivolution as one, before revealing a new Digimon form to WarGrowlmon and the others.
Seeing that as the dark light had died down, seeing the energies of Alice and BlackGatomon had successfully merged, a new Digimon now stood in place, prepped and ready for battle.
Examining the features of this new Digimon, to see her maintaining a more humanoid build within her appearance, the style of the Digimon was divided, as half of her body looked to hold angelic traits, much like Angewomon's, which included her six feathered wings and her shining white armour.
The other half of this Digimon's body and appearance was darker, which ranged from her darkened bat-like wings and her pitch black armour.
However showing she had absolute control over both attributes, able to control the forces of light and of darkness, the Biomerged Digimon declared her name, speaking as Alice and BlackGatomon simultaneously. "Mastemon!"
To the sight of this rare Digimon, the Digimon Knights were understandably surprised.
"You became Mastemon? I thought such a Digimon could come into creation when a DNA Digivolution is successfully formed between an Angewomon and a LadyDevimon who put their bad blood behind themselves and seek out a better future together." Guardromon commented, remaining in awe to the divine form Alice and BlackGatomon had succeeded in achieving.
"There's more than one way to become this form. With Alice's light and my darkness, we can become a force who uses both light and darkness to help light the path for a better and brighter future." Mastemon said in reply.
Although the Digimon Knights remained amazed and impressed to the power and the bond achieved between Alice and BlackGatomon, this also stunned the formers Devas.
"Impossible! How can this be?!" Pajiramon questioned in shock.
With One Mega Level Digimon and three Ultimate Level Digimons now opposing the Devas, Impmon and the others decided to quickly dispose of the remaining Tyrannomon and to then regroup with Wargrowlmon, should the powerful machine Digimon need his aid.
"Infernal Funnel!"
"Ember Sparks!"
"Whirling Hoof!"
"Warning Missiles!"
Combining their attacks, which proved more than enough to wipe out the remaining Tyrannomon, destroying their bodies, breaking apart their data particles and sending what remained of their fallen opponents back to the Digital World, Impmon and the others prepared to aid Wargrowlmon, Mastemon and the others.
From her position and knowing that Majiramon was indeed a powerful opponent, even with her being a Mega Level Digimon, Mastemon knew, that she had the strength within her to put an end to the dragon Deva once and for all.
"Chaos Degradation!"
Concentrating the light and dark energies within her being that she then cast released, the overwhelming power caused a rip throughout reality itself which began to forcefully drag and pull in the dragon Deva, much to his refusal.
Sinking his claws into the ground, trying to keep himself from being dragged into the dark void, Cyberdramon took advantage of Majiramon's defenceless position and shot forward.
Using his Cyber Nail attack to the ground around Majiramon, the attack removing Majiramon from the soil keeping him stationed, before he was dragged within the powerful suction of Mastemon's portal and sealed within the endless dark abyss.
With one of the Devas defeated, the other Devas didn't have time to glance at what happened and had to remain focused upon their battles against the Digimon Knights.
"Atomic Blaser!" Wargrowlmon announced before firing a great blast of shining red energy from his torrents and upon the Devas, consuming the trio with the furthering effects of Wargrowlmon's attack.
As the effects of Wargrowlmon's attack died down, it revealed the three Devas, who lay banged up and defeated, unable to fight any longer.
"It's over, villainous scoundrels!" Guardromon stated.
"But give us answers and we will spare you." Lopmon then told the defeated Devas.
"Tell us all about Indramon and Takashi Mishima!" Dawnmon ordered, before demanding. "Why are they in cahoots with each other?"
"Hehehehe... alright..." Mihiramon said with a small chuckle. "Indramon desires revenge against the ones who defeated him long ago. And that Mishima human wants to win the election so he can get rid of you interfering brats!"
"He knew Hypnos and those annoying humans would get in his way, so he asked Raigamon to take care of them. We didn't think your human partners would blow up the building just to take Raigamon out but it took their lives too so it was a worthy cause." Vajiramon then informed.
"You mean Mishima wanted our Tamers dead so he could win some damn ELECTION?!" Impmon said with a growing anger and fury in his voice, this causing Pagiramon to nod in reply.
"Not just that. He's always hated Hypnos for the good they had done. He has a deep hatred of you Digimon heroes playing hero and protecting innocent lives, which he wants to do through money and power." The sheep Deva then informed.
"Indramon agreed to form an alliance with Mishima so he could get his revenge on the Digimon Tamers as long as he made sure the humans wound up distrusting Digimon. And since the Digimon Tamers are no more, we are one step closer to victory and there is nothing more you can..."
Before Mihiramon could further in his cruel taunts, Wargrowlmon slammed his claw into Mihiramon's head, the impact crushing his skull and putting an end to the tiger Deva's life to an end once and for all.
Sharing and expressing her own frustration, Taomon slammed the sharpened end of her paintbrush into Vajiramon's face, impaling his face and too ending his life.
Lastly and following in Wargrowlmon and Taomon's example, Rapidmon, guided by his fury, blasted Pajiramon's head off with a devastating and powerful energy blast.
With their enemies now at an end, the Ultimate Level Digimon reverted back to their Rookie forms.
However, Guilmon, Terriermon and Renamon still held angered expressions within their faces. Standing in silence, the other digimon looked at them all worried about the trio.
"Hey, are you three alright?" Lopmon asked with a fair and growing concern.
To Lopmon's words, Terriermon just flew off into the night, while Guilmon and Renamon both boarded upon the Grani bike and rode off into the night… they were furious and hurting… worse than anything else.
"Guys wait!" Lopmon called out to them but her voice fell on deaf ears as Guardromon stepped up behind her.
"Let them go… After what the Devas told them, it's no wonder they were angry. They feel the divas said enough and they know they need to clear their heads before we can make our next move." Guardromon informed, expressing some empathy and concern in his voice. Mastemon soon disengaged the biomerge as Alice and Blackgatomon stood next to each other.
"They loved their partner so much that hearing the Devas boast like that left a growing spot of hate in their hearts." Alice then said as she and BlackGatomon split apart and disengaged from their Biomerged form.
"I think Pineapple Head, Bunny Boy and Fox Face need a break after everything they have been through and especially on what they just heard. And at least we know we can trust Black Kitty and her friends now." Impmon said in understanding.
"Right, since she is Alice's Digimon." Dawnmon said, who then suggested. "Let's give Guilmon and the others some space and return to base."
Agreeing to Dawnmon's words and about to take their leave, BlackGatomon approached Lopmon, a sincere smile on her face as she whispered. "Hey, Lopmon? I'll check on Guilmon and Renamon and try to calm them down. I think it would be best if you personally find Terriermon and do what you could to help him in this dark time."
"I just think they need a good talking to, but I'll do what I can to help Terriermon." Lopmon said in reply.
With Alice alongside the Digimon Knights, the group disappeared back into the night, while Lopmon and BlackGatomon headed off as to find Terriermon, Guilmon and Renamon, to do what they could to cheer up their friends and reignite their hopeful spirits.
