Jailbird

By the time I made it to the prison, the sky became scarlet. Usually the saying is red sky at night, sailor's delight, but I was about to talk to one of the most deranged people that I have ever known. It's pretty safe to say I wasn't delighted to see him. This guy and his kinda hot partner literally kidnapped me and my bandmates to make sure our first performance would flop. Then after he managed to get out (seriously legal system, how did you let that man free at first), he stole our entire second album, tried to make the next Justin Bieber, and got us arrested for breaking and entering.

So yeah, even though sailors are delighted, I'm feeling everything but delighted.

The prison was highly guarded, as any prison should be. I went through at least 3 metal detectors, got searched 5 times, and asked 20 questions about my reasons for being there. After all that was done, I was led into an interrogation room. I sat down and waited patiently for that bird to fly in.

The doors cracked open and there he was. Hawk looked exactly the same as the last time I saw him, with only a little more gray in the hair. He slumped down with a gross smirk on his face.

"Well, well," He sneered at me. "If it isn't the pretty boy of BTR. Since when were you smart enough to run a P.I unit? I only saw you going into modeling or something like that."

"Happy to see you, Hawk." I sighed sarcastically. "Didn't anyone tell you why I was here today?"

His body language was hard to read. He gave off an arrogant disposition by the way he sat. This must be some sick power trip for him rather than a suspect in a disappearance.

"Oh yeah," He started. "Your old bandmate and the self proclaimed "leader" has gone missing and you suspect I have something to do with it. Somehow I broke out of my cell, tracked the boy down, and ended up hiding him away somewhere, maybe even killed him. All in the meantime I made it all the way back to my cell without anyone noticing. Smart plan I came up with. Ya know… if I did it."

"I didn't assume you did it yourself." I snapped. "I have an intuition that you had something to do with it."

"Me?" Hawk questioned sarcastically. "Having something to do with the downfall of Big Time Rush? I can't believe you would even say that!"

I internally told myself to calm down and not sock him in the face. He's locked up in this prison for a reason. Certainly he's not going to be a giant fan of being a suspect.

"What I'm getting at is," I responded. "Even though you're locked up here, it doesn't mean you don't have any way of getting things done on the outside. You have the dough to throw at criminals to get your bidding done. If you wanted to, getting rid of us would be easy."

He snickered to himself "The smart one is rubbing off on you. Too bad you have your facts all wrong. They took all my money from me once I was arrested again. I have nothing to give out to assassins and bounty hunters. Even if I did, I would kill you idiots anyway! Yeah, I hate Gustavo and your fame, but I draw the line at killing."

I sat back and wondered to myself if he was lying or not. He's a manipulator. That's how he got out in the first place.

"Did you even come here prepared?" He continued. "You, being a P.I and everything, should have had the records of my arrest, my crimes, and how much I have for finances. I can't believe you overlooked that crucial step just to think it was an easy book and an easy paycheck."

My blood was starting to boil, but I had to keep my composure.

"This isn't a case someone came to me with." I state boldly, anger in my voice. "Kendall called me and then his line went dead, saying our band was in danger, so I took it for myself. It's not about the money! It's about trying to find my bandmate and hopefully catch the perpetrator before Carlos and Logan get hurt too!"

Hawk just stared down at me, smiling menacingly. "You're crazy, pretty boy. Always has been, always will be."

"What makes you think I'm crazy?" I questioned, my voice shaking.

"Why, everything of course. You must have used your Cuda Man Spray too much, since your brain is shrinking while looking at you."

Hawk and I went back and forth like this for a while. I try to reel him back into the interrogation, while he insults everything about me and my bandmates under the sun. Everything from our music, our fans, our management crew, our lovers, even our family members.

"Your mother must be so ashamed of what you've become." He started again. "She's what? A millionaire? While you're over here trying to be the star of a crime drama. Isn't it pathetic?"

I could take the harassment of my bandmates and my fans, but now my mother is getting dragged in. Brooke Diamond wasn't the best mother growing up, I will be the first to say that. But no matter what I end up doing with my life, she would never be ashamed of me. How do I know? That phone call she gave me yesterday. All she wants for me is to be happy, safe, and financial well enough that I'm not out on the streets. Her being ashamed of me would never be an option.

"Take my mother's name out of your mouth!" I yelled at him. The sweat from my anger dripped slowly down my face.

"Or what?" He hissed through his teeth. "You'll call your dad?"

That's when everything went off the rails. I lunged across the table, fists in the air. Thankfully, police were watching the whole thing go down from the outside and busted into the room. They dragged me back while urging Hawk to get out the room.

I know looking back that was stupid of me. I blew off the handle and it wasn't smart. The police are now looking down on me for my behavior and Hawk knows how to get under my skin.

"What did he say to you that made you lunge toward him like that?" an officer asked me.

"It was about my dad, and I just lost it." I answered. Just talking about leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

After the police gave me a really stern talking to, I left the information I managed to gather. Hawk claims to not have access to his money and people on the outside. I only think that this is half true, since I can see why he wouldn't have access to that stuff. But I have the sinking feeling that something was wrong.

As I walked down the street, I tried to figure out where Carlos is located. Logan said he was a cop at the prison, but there was no record of him being there. There are plenty of stations in L.A, so finding him is going to be a challenge.

I noticed at the corner of my eye a hooded figure following my every move. The sound of Kendall's warning rang through my brain rapidly.

"Men…. the band….. Danger…."

I started taking more turns into big crowds, trying to shake them off. They kept up with me with every turn I took. Eventually I got my way into an alleyway, but it was blocked off by a brick, graffitied wall.

The hooded figure came strutting towards me, their hand reaching into the pocket.

"Look," I said, panicked. "How much do you want? I'll give my wallet, my phone, this Hawaiian shirt ..."

The hooded figure leaned up towards me, but instead of a gun or a knife in my face… It was a badge.

"You're in danger, Diamond' her angelic voice emerged. "So are your friends. Come with me if you want to live."

I knew that voice. I fell in love with that voice. I dated that voice. And then I broke up with that voice.

That guardian angel was Lucy Stone.
