As they left Kannamura, Chiyako looked up at Karaat, fascinated by him for a moment. Once he looked over at her, she blushed and muttered, "Can I ask you something?" When he nodded, she blushed slightly and continued, "I know you because of a dream. But how do you know me? You've mentioned my name several times and I have a feeling you know a good amount about me. Plus, the whole barrage against my grandfather looked very personal. Oh, don't' worry! I still believe that he deserved it. Just wasn't expecting someone to come to my rescue, let alone take the time to break nearly every bone in his body before killing him."

"I would consider what I did more as an execution, but yes, you're right." He sighed softly. "I met you in a rather strange way. You were already dead at the time." After her confusion, he hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck. "Days before summer started when I was a teen, I was given a Blu-ray disc as a challenge from a friend. The disc was supposedly cursed and I was dared to watch it. So, I did, thinking it was just some prank. The images on the disc were, well, to be absolutely honest, horrifying. Your spirit was possessing the disc. When I played it, you were released and you possessed me for a moment."

Chiyako gasped, shocked. Grabbing his arm, she looked up at Karaat. "Did I hurt you? What happened? Oh god, I'm so sorry! Please know it wasn't intentional, or at least I hope that it wasn't intentional!"

"You're fine, you didn't hurt me." He smiled slightly. "I had a friend, well, she's my wife now. But at that time, she was a friend. Her family was known for running a Buddhist temple and she knew some exorcisms. The exorcism only partially worked though and while you left my body, this meant that you and the six other girls that were your grandfathers' victim now only had a limited time on the mortal plane. Forty-nine days to be exact. We agreed that each of you would split your time evenly so you could all do things you wanted to do before passing on. I had agreed wanting to help, though it didn't go as well as planned," He muttered the last part, frowning. While he had closure from killing the grandfather, the memories were still there, from the bite mark, saving Nene from the creepy men, even the final day where he wailed for hours for so long that he had lost his voice for almost a whole week. He really didn't want to talk about those moments. She already seemed distressed enough, he didn't need to add to it.

Confused, she followed him, holding his hand. "How did it not go as well as planned? What happened?"

He hesitated, feeling bad. Glancing over at her, he said, "Please know that none of what I'm about to tell you is your fault." Once she nodded, he continued, "To put it simply, your time was cut short. I was already in a bad mental state from trying to help the other six and I wanted to make your week special, but after Nene had passed on, even you could tell I was not doing well. When you disappeared, I argued with my now wife, yelling at her to exorcise the disc. She yelled at me that I was abandoning her. She was right, of course, but at that time, I didn't care. It wasn't until days later when you came back in the clouds and we talked. At that time, you were telling me to move on and apologize to my wife, Murasaki. I begged and pleaded for you to stay, but it was too late apparently."

"Oh, Karaat, I'm so sorry. But, I'm here now! And, I mean, if you were a teen, I guess you did start to move on?" She suggested, grateful the others were letting them talk.

"More or less. I don't want to say that I fully moved on. I would still have dreams at times, sleepless nights where I tried to think of what I could have done different. What I could have said to make everyone's moving on better. The year after it happened, I was a mess and I constantly had dreams where all of you were yelling at me that I didn't do enough." He sighed softly and smiled, "I'm just glad to see you here now." As she nodded and hugged him, he held her close, visibly relaxing.

"Your suffering was brutal and it most likely affected you spiritually as well," Pucci said. When Karaat nodded, he smiled and said, "Spend as much time with her as you can while we travel. Catch up and focus on the positive, not what could or should have been done. You're here together now and that's all that matters."

Blushing, Karaat looked at her and then Pucci. The priest was a bit odd, but he seemed to mean well. Nodding, he put his arm around her waist and said, "Thank you. We'll try our best."

Narancia snorts, "Just don't cheat on your wife Karaat." Karaat and Chiyako turn red immediately. Karaat looking at the ground embarrassed and Chiyako giggling into her hand. She smiles lightly hitting Karaat, "I'm flattered you like me that much, but I agree with Narancia. I don't want to be a homewrecker." Karaat stutters, "Y-you're not going to be a homewrecker, I promise," he directs his attention to Narancia glaring, "Come here you little shit!" Narancia laughs maniacally as Karaat chases them.

Unfortunately, the relaxation didn't last for very long. They had managed to leave Kannamura was quick and pleasant. But they had trouble. They had only been standing in the city for a few minutes when Pucci tensed as a man approached. Karaat could tell from his body language that the priest didn't trust this man at all. The man in question was decently fit and had long blond hair that curled at the ends, almost like an eighteenth-century wig. His uniform was slim with an overcoat which was closed at the end of the torso. The clothes underneath were frilled and he wore gloves with a net pattern.

"Funny Valentine," Pucci said, scowling as he watched him approach. "Just what are you doing here?"

"Why, me? Just doing my job, Enrico." He chuckled, winking. "Well, that, and giving you a little hint. Since you all seem so lost. I know you're looking for your Rhinoceros Beetle and I just so happen to now where it is!" As Pucci glared at him, he smirked and held out his hand as if offering him something of value. "Manhattan Island is your destination!"

"Manhattan Island?" Karaat said, raising an eyebrow. "Hold on, should we even trust this man?" As Narancia shrugged, it seemed that the man, who Pucci had said was Funny Valentine, wasn't done.

"Yes, Manhattan Island. You will find what you need there. Trust me or not, it does not matter. Oh! How about another hint, you need a Spiral Staircase, yes?"

Pucci is hesitant, "Yes, we do." Funny gestures to Karaat and Chiyako, "Look to your right."

Pucci looks confused, "Them? I don't understand-" Pucci's eyes widen suddenly.

Chiyako speaks, "What? What's wrong?" "You…I can't believe it, you're the spiral staircase!"

Karaat furrows his eyebrows, "Huh?"

Pucci smiles, "You are from different universes and Karaat knows the version of Chiyako from his universe, creating a spiral staircase!" "Ah, before you go, I would love to introduce you to someone that I'm sure you would love to meet! Allow me to introduce you to the "Secret Emperor", Dio Brando!"
