Response:
Gs: it's not that I don't understand how eezo works, it's that it does not work as advertised. It is shown in multiple situations creating force fields that should not be possible, if it only alters mass. If it only altered mass then most of what biotics do would not work. So I decided to make it not work in my fanfic. biotics still exist, but with different abilities then in the games. Kinetic barriers work by removing the mass (and thus energy) from projectiles, and as such do not work against heat. There is no artificial gravity, just magnetic boots, rotational gravity, and thrust gravity like in the expanse. The mass accelerators are just enhanced coil-guns.
ships:
A: I admit that I have not read the books, I have just played the games, so I missed that.
B: I concede on the arks
C: I concede on the transports (funny that not too long ago I was trying to convince you on that point for humanity, guess I dropped the ball on that)
D: look at the amount of infrastructure needed for super freighters today, and those are less the 1/8th the size of a dreadnought (the largest ship ever is less then half the length of a dreadnought)
E: I meant supplying them with fuel, food, ammunition, water, spare parts, ect.
F: Most cruisers and battleships had many main guns.
G: They are not anti-asteroid guns, they are meant to make holes in asteroids so colonists can make colonies in a radiation protected area covered in what they are meant to be extracting. It is big so it can make deep holes and spinal mounted because that is cheaper then putting it on a turret. It was originally a corporate colony ship before being bought by the Systems Alliance for exploration.
Human:
B: Some parts were, it depended on the country/colony that they were on. They do have problems, they will not be very effective.
Turian:
B: I changed the sentence. What I meant is that humanity does not know that the turians are not going to exterminate them, leading to them maybe having a "when faced with extinction, every alternative is acceptable" view which may cause problems in the future (like the nuke probe in ME1, or humans making some type of bioweapon,)
Dreadnoughts: It is less about capability and more about willingness. The turian economy is smaller then the other two council economies, but not overwhelming so. The US can deal with North Korea if it puts 60 % of its GDP into the military while keeping their military spending reasonable to their people, not if China did it. Populations will only take so much money being spent in the military and that amount is different for each population. Turians will accept a vastly percent of the GDP going into the military then the other council races, allowing them to have a larger military then the others combined even with a smaller economy. So instead of trying to keep up in a dreadnought arms race that their people do not want to pay for, they restrict the turians while making them believe they are strengthening them.
I am going to bullshit how eezo works and this is a alternate universe so don't complain.
I find it funny how far the story has diverge from my original plan. My original concept for this story would be my interpretation of the canon first contact war (hard Cannon, no deviations, everything's the same as normal), but it's diverged so much from Cannon that some fan fictions that replace humanity with an entirely different franchises version are closer to the original than this. It started with some timeline alterations, then some switching of how space combat works, and at this point humanity had a dozen systems before element zero was even discovered.
EEZO
Element zero is the basis of most technology in the galaxy, from faster than light travel to firearms used on the battlefield, they all are affected by eezo.
Element zero is a atom comprised of pairs of one neutron, and one dark energy construct called a Minerva shard. In 2194 the British scientist Julia Minerva was able to detect dark energy and a construct created from it that was called a Minerva core, which was believed to be the most basic form of dark energy. In 2312 it was discovered that Minerva cores are themselves made of a smaller, subatomic construct that was named a Minerva shard. In the cores of white dwarfs Minerva cores through a unknown process, brake down and leaves the Minerva shards to be bonded with free neutrons in the core. During type 1 supernovae the eezo is released into space. When a negative or positive electric current is put through eezo the electricity is radiated out of the material, altering the mass of everything it reaches.
Eezo can be found naturally in forms with between 1 to 12 neutron-Minerva shard pairs. Eezo is put into grades, with each extra neutron-Minerva shard pair increasing the grade by 1.
Grade 1: used in low cost, low quality civilian goods
Grade 2: used in low cost, low quality civilian goods
Grade 3: used in low cost, low quality civilian goods
Grade 4: used in low cost, low quality civilian goods and small arms
Grade 5: used in low cost, low quality civilian goods, ships, and small arms
Grade 6: used in moderate cost, moderate quality civilian goods, ships, and small arms. Low level biotics that show some ability usually have this grade eezo. Anything lower and the ability's do not show up.
Grade 7: used in moderat cost, moderate quality civilian goods, ships, and small arms. Low level biotics that show some ability usually have this grade eezo.
Grade 8: used in moderat cost, moderate quality civilian goods, ships, and small arms. Mid level biotics usually have this grade eezo.
Grade 9: used in moderat cost, moderate quality civilian goods, ships, and small arms. Mid level biotics usually have this grade eezo.
Grade 10: used in high cost, high quality civilian goods, ships, warships, and small arms. High level biotics usually have this grade eezo.
Grade 11: used in high cost, high quality civilian goods, ships, warships, and small arms. High level biotics usually have this grade eezo.
Grade 12: used in high cost, high quality civilian goods, ships, warships, and small arms. High level biotics usually have this grade eezo.
it is possible to artificially create element zero , but the cost in power and expensive equipment make it economically unfeasible for fulfilling demand, but these facilities are able to create a higher grade eezo then naturally occurs. The asari were the only species capable of using this process, and can create up to grade 15 element zero. This was until 2359 when a Salarian research group, valvocit became capable of creating grade 13 eezo, making Salarian the second species, currently able to create eezo. These higher grades are used in only the highest quality goods. Many firearms and kinetic barriers produced for special forces units use graded 13-15 element zero, asari commandos from extremely wealthy and advanced city states commonly get injected with grade 15 eezo to dramatically increase their biotic capabilities, asari reconnaissance frigates are equipped with grade 15 eezo cores making them some of the fastest ships in the galaxy (capable of 10 light years a day,), and 87% of the cost of the Destiny Ascension was the entirely grade 14 eezo core (the original plans called for a grade 15 core, but this was dropped when it was discovered that the budget would have to be dramatically increased, or the construction time spread out over many more decades) giving it shields over 23 times the strength of a modern turian dreadnought, and the maneuverability of a frigate (the majority of this dramatic shield superiority comes from the extreme difference in size of the ships, but some of that comes from the superior element zero in the cores).

Augmentation:
Augmentation is the addition of mechanical, bio mechanical, or genetically engineered materials into a organic body in order to produce a permanent result. Most advanced species perform at least minor levels of augmentation on their citizens, including the implantation of Omni tools, the replacement of damaged or destroyed limbs, and the addition of translators. Some species like humanity and the Quarians participate in higher levels of augmentation than other species. The augmentation level of individuals are split into five grades based off their severity.
Grade one: little to no augmentations. This is usually the level found in preindustrial societies, and anti-augmentation groups.
Grade two: minor levels of augmentations usually consisting of Omni tools and translation devices alongside minor monitoring and assistance devices like pacemakers. The majority of citadel citizens are at grade two.
Grade 3: the addition of significant augmentations like more invasive Omni tools, replacements for limbs or organs, and computer interfaces used by humanity. The majority of humans and Quarians, alongside disabled members of other species fall into this category.
Grade 4: The addition of extreme augmentations, like the complete replacement of the musculature, respiratory system, and cardiovascular system with mechanical or bio mechanical counterparts and replacement of large amounts of organs. Most human military personnel and high class citizens fall into this category. Individuals of this category are not found in substantial numbers in citadel space as this level of augmentation is sometimes considered taboo.
Grade 5: Walking the line between synthetic and organic creatures, this category includes the replacement of so much of the original organism that it can be considered a almost entirely different entity (ship of Theseus conundrum). Only a small number of isolationist communities in human space have reached this level of augmentation. The only location where these individuals can be found in significant numbers is the IO harmony. This independent power centered on the moon of its name is composed of many millions of grade 5 sapients and is both technologically advanced, and heavily isolationist. They are one of the few significant independent powers within human space. It was a major combatant during the Jovian wars, where it held off all the other factions at one point or another to retain control of its moon and outlying territories.
