Chapter 9: LÖRNIXX

Previously...

Lore couldn't stop himself from smiling as they ran, feeling pure happiness, true happiness. Glancing at Fenix, she too had a smile as she ran. The pair felt as if they were flying though clouds. Fenix knew choosing to stay with him was right. She felt it with every fibre of her being to spend the rest of her eternal life with this person. It didn't matter to her that she was still too young to be making a decision of this size because, she had nothing to lose. She had already lost her family, her belongings that held her personal attachments and memories, and her rights as a person. A nomad was what she had unintentionally become because of the cards given to her.Monuments and castles will crumble, civilizations will fall, people will die, nothing is ever forever. She was all she had left, but now, she finally has something, someone by her side. Glancing at Lore, she felt something within her soul she never felt before, an eternal fire. They were two wild creatures running high on freedom.

Lore and Fenix were lounging at the facility, their home. Fenix was looking at pictures of Nikki Sixx, Mick Marrs and Joan Jett, while she waited for Lore to fix his snare drum, "Man... I know a lot of people knocked mullets but I don't care... they're sooo rad." Lore looked up to see what she was talking about, "I think you're hair looks just fine the way it is." Fenix chuckled, "Thanks to you. It was choking me in my sleep there for a bit." She inspected her long straight blunt hair, "And mullets are high maintenance. Lots of teasing and so much hairspray. You can't have a mullet without hairspray. That's a big no-no." She smirked and teased Lore, "Maybe I should go blonde..." He looked up from his snare drum with distaste, "Really?" She chuckled, "I went platinum blonde when I was like... nine? Mom was a hairstylist but she wouldn't let me dye it. So, I got Oisin to do it as long as I gave him a mullet. I looked like Vince Neil, and he looked like David Lee Roth. So badass!" His eyebrows knit together, "I can't picture you as a blonde." "Then I'll bleach my hair so you can see." she chimed. He jumped up from his desk, "Don't you fucking dare!" Fenix hollered in laughter, Lore realized she was just teasing him. He walked towards her and her laughter subsided. Gently picking a strand of her hair commented, "I love how silky it feels against my skin... with the colour of coffee." his eyes darted to hers, making her blush, "Thanks... I like your dark hair, too. I like how you wear it kinda messy... kinda like Tommy Lee's back when he was with Pamela Anderson." Trying to hide her blush, she turned away to walk back to the couch, leaving Lore standing. Fenix was done mixing and playing sound engineer with the new track they just recorded. Grabbing her beer, she exclaimed, "I'm done mixing the track. I'll play it out loud since it always sounds different from headphones. Always try different forms to make sure it sounds good in every listening device." He smiled and listened to it, "The synth really added that icing on the cake. Maybe a tad more on the bass, less on the crash cymbals, more mids on the guitar. " Fenix smiled, "That's what I thought, too. Just thought I'd check. Always helps to have another set of ears." She began adjusting the audio, "Right there!" Lore hollered. The two listened to it and both nodded in satisfaction. "There we have it, Lore. Another song done. We'll have an album ready pretty soon. How rad is that?" He smirked, "It's fucking rad, that's what. And it'll be a Lornix original." She giggled, "Lornix, I like that. Lore and Fenix. That was too cute." His shoulders sagged, "It was supposed to be badass..." and rolled his eyes. "It is badass. I meant the idea behind it." she grinned, "Lornix... has a good 1980's metal vibe to it. I dig it. I'd spell it... L-O-R-N-I-X-X. The double 'x' makes it look more striking, more in-your-face." He added, "With two dots on the 'o'." Her smile brightened, "Even better." She went to the drawing board and spelled LÖRNIXX. He grinned with a nod, "I think we got ourselves a name for our band." "Hell ya! Cheers, bro!" The two clinked their beers and took a swig. Fenix tilted her head, "It's kinda shitty that you can't get drunk with me..." He shrugged, "I don't mind. I don't know how it feels to get drunk so it doesn't matter to me." She made a face, "One day... we'll find something that'll get you shit-faced." He scruffed her hair, "I appreciate your enthusiasm, kid." then grabbed the Polaroid camera. Once Fenix realized he had the camera, she started making faces and giving the camera the middle finger. Lore licked her face as he took another photo of them together causing Fenix to scream, "AHH! WHY!?" He laughed, "That's why." and handed her the photo. Lore's tongue was making full contact with her cheek as she was mid scream with wide eyes. Fenix laughed at the ridiculous photo.

After some time creating more music, Lore decided the next time they go exploring, Fenix would have to be better prepared, "Hey, I need a sample of your blood. I want to make something that'll help you aide in hyper-regeneration without the need to eat if you're ever in a predicament. Don't really want another episode of you falling down a cliff and cracking your skull open again." She nodded in agreement, "That's smart. And I can't be lugging around cake and pizza everywhere. Mildly a nuisance for me." She walked to the work desk and took a seat. Presenting her arm on the table, Lore grabbed a rope to use as a tourniquet. She questioned, "Is that why you didn't want to jump over the canyon the other day?" Lore looked at her, "Yes. I don't want you risking yourself unnecessarily." Fenix reassured, "Rather me than you. I can heal fast. You might actually break." His eyes became serious, "Doesn't matter, I don't feel pain, you do." and inserted the needle but her skin pushed it out as soon as he let it go. Fenix remembered, "Oh... right... I'll hold onto it." He tried again, this time, she held the needle in place. Lore commented as he took a vial of her blood, "Still amazes me..." "What? They hyper-regeneration?" He nodded in response and added, "Besides, you could always fix me if something happened." She debated as she spun around in her chair, "True... but it's easier if I just heal, just saying." He put the vial on the stand and stopped her chair from spinning with his foot, he warned, "Promise me you won't be putting yourself at risk." Fenix sighed, "What's the point of living if you do nothing because I could get hurt? Taking risks is part of living. I lived my life trying to hide 'this' and you know what happened? I got experimented on either way. Everything that should've never happened to anyone happened. And this all happened while I was at an academy, probably the safest place to be... and still..." She shook her head bitterly. Lore counteracted, "That doesn't mean you should be making rash decisions either." "Fine... it's all about balance. If the stakes are too high, I won't. But if it's something worth while, I will. That I can promise." He rolled his eyes, "Fine. I'll compromise." She smiled, "Besides, isn't it fun having me around? Someone that can almost keep up with you?" He chuckled, "Yeah, I do. I love being able to spar, run and explore with you." Would love to do more than that, Fenix...

Lore finished making miniature pills for Fenix in a short while, "Here, I can attach these to your molars. Dislodge them, and bite down. It'll release a fume that will restore your energy needed after hyper-regeneration." He walked to the couch where she was laying on as he commanded, "Sit up. Open your mouth." Fenix sat up and did as told. "Your mouth is small." Lore stated and stood up to get tools for his predicament, "You have really big hands." she giggled. He grinned walking back, "Open up." She opened her mouth again, "Keep your tongue still." he demanded. "Ah ann!" She protest. He took fingers out of her mouth with a sigh, "What?" Rolling her eyes, she clarified, "I said 'I am'." "Obviously, not because it's moving around like an unearthed worm." She defended, "But I was! If it's moving, I got no control over it." He chuckled and grasped her chin to open her mouth. Feeling her tongue on his fingers was a strangely erotic sensation for him even in this awkward situation. He quickly placed the pill on the one molar, and did the same to the other. "There, done." Fenix moved her jaw around for a moment. Lore's eyes lingered at her engorged, red lips and leaned in, "You're welcome..." Her eyes widened, "Oh, right... um... thank you." she smirked. His eyes were still on her lips, "You could be more grateful..." I want you to kiss me, Fenix. Blushing at his hint, she cleared her throat sat up. He small hands shook slightly as she touched his chin with her fingertips. Leaning in, she softly kissed his cheek. He commanded, "Kiss me properly, Fenix." His eyes flickered to hers and she flinched, "Can you... close your eyes, Lore?" He did as she asked and waited patiently for her. Leaning in, she pressed her partially open lips to his, trying not be embarrassed as she took part in this intimate act. She moved her lips trying to remember how he had done previously, but more timidly. Lore smiled into her kisses. I love your inexperienced kisses. So pure... so innocent... so adorable... I want more and more... He could feel his body reacting. I love it when you kiss me. I have to manipulate you to do so, but I don't mind. One day, you'll be eager to kiss me... throw yourself into my arms and devour me. For now... this is perfect. She finished the kiss and pulled back with engorged lips, dilated amethyst eyes and flushed cheeks. Digging his nails into his palms, Lore had to do everything in his power to not seduce her knowing this was all very new to her.Fenix tried to start a conversation, "Um... do you want to go check out passed the canyon now?" He grinned, "Sure. Let's go." He hopped up and pulled her up with him by her hand. Fenix averted her eyes as soon as she saw he was aroused and Lore smirked.

They reached the canyon passed the oasis as Lore estimated, "I could make it across... you should be, too." She grabbed his arm, "Wait! I'll go first, if you fall and break, I'd have to fix you." He looked at her, not approving of her choice, "Just because you have those pills doesn't mean you should be reckless. We just had this discussion back home." Before she could protest, she saw something in the sky. Lore turned to see her distraction. A Vulcan vessel plummeting to the planet's floor. They both looked at each other, understanding what they were conveying. They broke into a sprint. When they reached the crash site, they had their guard up, expecting the unexpected. Lore kicked the door open to find three injured Borg members. They grabbed Fenix, she fought them off with ease but refused to kill them. Lore on the other hand, killed them seeing them as a threat to her. Fenix noticed the green Vulcan blood, her face became rigid with worry. Noticing this, Lore observed, "I think the Vulcans escaped back onto their ship." She looked out the open door and sure enough, there was Vulcan ship leaving orbit. Lore unceremoniously threw the dead Borgs out of the ship and were transported back to where they came from shortly after. He touched the controls as he examined the damage. "We could fix this... Fenix, you understand Vulcan and you have previous experience with a Romulan warship." She answered back, "Yeah, I'm fluent in the language but I don't know how similar their ships would be. But I'll try." They were able to fix the vessel. It was a decent size, it had everything they needed to leave the planet for some time. Fenix happily spoke, "I guess we'll be going on a little road trip, space pirate?" He grinned and replied, "You and I, my lovely firebird... Just you and I, we won't need anyone else, we'll sail the sea of stars." They took off and bid 'farewell' to Omicron Theta, uncertain of their destination, certain of a journey filled with excitement. Just as the pair left, U.S.S. Enterprise D was arriving at Omicron Theta.
