Naotw:
Cruise missile: the cruise missile would be pointed at the ship, meaning that the large, depleted uranium block would be what's absorbing the guardian lasers, and even if the engine is destroyed, it is irrelevant as it is stated that guardian lasers are short range, and by the time the missile would reach its range it would have already used up all its fuel and hit It's maximum velocity. The smaller missiles either A. Deploy kinetic munitions
B. are not meant for use against ships (the neutron warhead's [They are real, they are nukes specifically designed for increased radiation, but not fallout] are meant for use against missiles and fighters [Most of the time see D]).
C. Are used in such a large numbers and at such close range (like the torpedoes in mass effect) that the guardian lasers cannot intercept them all.
Or D. Can detonate at the edge of the outside of guardian laser range, and still do damage (a neutron bomb will still screw with electronics and give meat bags cancer 200 km away and a nuclear shaped charge doesn't have to explode on the hull to drench a ship in plasma)
combat: I based that it was a requirement on the fact they chose to let their cruisers and frigates engage, or let the dreadnoughts engage.
Mass relay: For the ramming, I meant that one of the codex entries (I think the one about tactics for fighting the reapers)that is in M.E three says that using mass effect based FTL engines to ram an enemy ship does not work. The mass effect engine requirement for relays is my reasoning for why they didn't just slam engines on a hollowed out multi kilometer astroid and call it a ship.
Narn: yes, but only a little. I still wanna fun hyper nationalistic Narn to play with.
As for the info dumps slowing down the plot. I'll be honest, I'm using the info dumps to procrastinate on actually doing dialogue because I'm not sure about my abilities with that.
Guest: I am not planning for the story to make it past first contact (might do a sequel, dealing with things further into the story of Mass Effect), so I had a stray Shepherd that I thought I had to at least mention. I was getting bored while I was altering all the dates to account for me changing the timeline, so I decided to make his/her mother a cult leader, then added that she died while pregnant as an afterthought. The war will be caused by miscommunication.
King of summer: I already added a few years from Ftl to first contact compared to Cannon (13 years compared to nine) , but I might change it to later (20 to 25 years?).
