Heat seared her skin, explosions deafening out any other sound around her. Her chest felt tight as she struggled to push her legs to just move faster. Deep down she feared that she wasn't going to be fast enough to outrun what she caused. Adrenaline made her blind to any small debris hitting her as she attempted to dodge around larger stone, brick, and whatever else had originally decorated the square. She vaguely remembered tripping over something and just pushing herself to get back up. Her breath and heart pounding in her ears.

Faster.

Faster!

Her thoughts seemed to be screaming at her to keep going as much as possible. She had sent her team back while covering their retreat. Now she had put herself in the middle of the diversion in hopes she could get out. She had used all her energy to create the chaos around her and only had enough left to get her to the exfil point.

She scrambled around a corner, finding herself in a familiar area. She was getting close to the drop point and starting to leave the most dangerous parts of the area. She quickly glanced behind, checking to see if she was being pursued or if her plan had worked.

So far so good. Nothing but smoke and fire.

Her chest continued to feel tighter, and she had the urge to scream. In the back of her head, she knew it was because panic was setting in. She had used a brave front to create the diversion alone, mainly because she didn't want any of them caught up in her plan. It was an incredible strain on her abilities, but it would all be worth it if everyone made it back to the ship.

The noise and smoke seemed to lessen slightly, and she realized that the area she was in seemed evacuated. There was no one else around. She wanted to slow down, to take a breath but she also knew that if she did that, she wouldn't be able to make it all the way back.

Left. Right. Left. Right.

She forced herself to keep going as fast as she could. They would be waiting for her, or they would come looking and she didn't want them to go back to what we had to leave behind.

"Akira!"

It took a moment for the call out to register, and that was what prompted her to slow down.

Around the corner, two streets down, a dark-haired man stepped out of the shadows. His hair was pulled away from his face and sparked some gray at his temples and a streak in his beard. His dark eyes and brows were narrowed at her.

"What in the hell was that?" He demanded as she jogged over to him.

"A distraction, it won't hold them for long though. The element of surprise is what is delaying them more than what I did," she said in an out of breath voice.

He huffed in displeasure and shifted the bow he was holding to ready himself to draw an arrow. Hanzo always was the grumpy one, hard to read and easy to anger. He led the way back, more cautiously now that they didn't have eyes on the enemy.

She didn't say anything else; he wasn't likely to respond anyway. It would be better if they were flying away as it was. She could feel her body start to get heavier and heavier. She held in a wince; she had used more energy than she meant to. It was better to be safe than sorry against Talon though. They had faced a fully prepared team, one with members that were of the highest caliber. It was a miracle they managed to get away with what they had.

The mission was supposed to be intel extraction. They knew it was guarded heavier than most places Talon had but they didn't predict having Reaper and Widow there. They had planned well, but not that well.

Winston and Jack had built a plan and even brought more than one team in just to be safe. Good thing they did, otherwise it was likely they would have been in their clutches at this point.

They turned a final corner, and she was starting to sag as she saw the ship. Tracer zipped away from the ship over to them once she spotted us.

"There you are! You had me worried sick pulling a stunt like that luv!" She chastised Akira.

She could only nod, she didn't have the energy to open her mouth and respond. Everything was getting heavier, and she swore she could hear a slight ringing in her ears. Just had to get everyone on the ship and then everyone would be okay, that's the most she could think of at that moment.

They made their way up the ramp and the door shut promptly behind them. She looked at Tracer and couldn't form the words, but Tracer could understand the expression on Akira's face.

"Everyone is on the ship; Angela is getting Jack fixed right up. It isn't major and he will be up and at it soon," she said reassuringly.

Akira unceremoniously dropped on a nearby seat, her legs shaking from the effort she had pulled from them. Her chest still felt tight, and she rubbed it absently. Her adrenaline was fading fast, and she swayed with the ship as they lifted off the ground.

"You all right? What did you do back there?" Tracer asked, cocking her head at Akira.

Akira wanted to respond; she really did. Especially with dark eyes looking over Tracer's shoulder at her like he knew that she had pushed herself way too far and somehow had come out lucky. No one but Jack, Angela, and Winston knew about what Akira could do…at least until today. She was still testing what she had, understanding what she could do. Everything was blurry and the edges of her vision spotted white and black.

The ship taking off at high speed didn't register until Akira realized she was falling over but her arms and legs wouldn't respond.

Everything went dark.

Foolish.

The whole mission had been foolish. So many mistakes had been made and the newest member of the team offered to create a distraction? The fact that Jack and Winston had let her was what left him dumbfounded. He obeyed orders but he really didn't understand what they were thinking. Sure, he had assumed there was something about her that they hadn't disclosed as far as why she was even allowed to join in the first place. Even still though, she was too green. She hadn't been on enough missions and had enough experience to pull a stunt like that.

She seemed weary when she came running out of the smoke that seemed to shroud the area surrounding the building they were attempting to infiltrate. A quick once over told him there were no major injuries that he could discern. Just a random array of scrapes, flushed skin, and smudges from the smoke.

He never really talked to her or associated with her outside of missions, but at the end of the day she was a teammate, and he wasn't going to leave her behind. Something was off on the way back. She made sure to never go out of her way to bother him like most of the others did. She was never cold to him either though, not like Angela. She usually engaged in mission recap or asked for feedback at the end. He had expected that, not complete silence.

When Tracer mentioned her concern and he had looked eyes with her, he knew she had pushed her limits way too far and hadn't said. She already knew she was going to hear about it later from someone, even if it did save all of them from a worse fate.

The moment the ship lurched from the sudden increase in speed is when he moved. Her gray eyes were glazed over as she just fell out of her seat. He caught her upper body, preventing her head from hitting the ground.

Foolish.

He picked her up, just a limp body in his arms as Tracer zipped away, announcing she would get the Med Bay ready. The boarding area of the ship was deserted, everyone most likely either with Jack in the Med Bay or in the main room where Winston was navigating the ship through Athena. He followed her to the Med Bay, ignoring the fact he was holding her close and steady. Dark hair pulled back into a simple ponytail away from her freckled face.

"Did she come back like that?" An accented voice asked from one of the doorways he passed.

Hanzo couldn't help himself but flinch at that voice, the guilt that seemed to eat at the base of his stomach and creep up. The biggest mistake he had ever made.

"No," was all he could bring himself to reply.

The gray metal gleamed dully against one of the hall lights as he followed behind Hanzo.

"I can take her the rest of the way," Genji offered, slightly outstretching his metal arms to take the load off.

Hanzo considered it for only a moment, being able to go back to silence and being alone was preferable but he wasn't going to shuffle around what he already had. He also couldn't bring himself to face what he had done to his younger brother, even months after finding out he was actually alive.

"No," was all he could say again. The rest of the words he had wanted to say to his brother the years always got caught at the base of his throat. He didn't deserve his brother's forgiveness, or his kindness.

Genji relaxed his arms at his side but continued the silent walk to the Med Bay. He liked the new girl, she was friendly and kind. She always took his exercises seriously and often sparred with him. It was nice to have a fresh mind as a part of the team, it made him feel a little like his old self.

The walk wasn't a long one to the Medbay, but to Hanzo it felt way too long and awkward. Genji had always attempted to pretend they didn't have a past, and just to co-exist with someone he used to look up to. Learning under Zenyatta had helped him manage his emotions better and process what had happened to him. While he held no grudges, his friend Angela surely did.

Jack was sitting up on one of the two beds in the Medbay. A healing booster was in his hand and his left arm wrapped around his torso to prevent movement while he let the booster do its job. He was intently watching the two men bring in the newest member of the team. Angela was busying herself around the second bed with Tracer zipping around the small room grabbing some battery packs from various places around the room.

Angela didn't even look Hanzo in the eye as she gestured to the empty space and took the packs from Tracer as she retrieved them.

"Haven't tested this theory yet but I'm assuming this will work," Angela announced, more to Jack than anyone else but she knew what she was doing was confusing almost everyone in the vicinity.

Hanzo placed her down gently and backed out of the way. Normally he would have left Angela to her work and leave but curiosity got the better of him.

Mercy placed the first battery pack in Kyra's hand and watched the meter that displayed the power. She waited a moment until she nodded with satisfaction.

"I was hopping this would work considering the nature of her ability, but we hadn't really had an opportunity to try it," she said looking over at Jack's stone face. "Not that I would want the opportunity you understand, but I couldn't be sure until we were in this position."

Hanzo couldn't hide the confusion on his face and before he could stop himself, Tracer asked the question on everyone's mind.

"She can manipulate energy at its base form. So, providing her sources of energy can refill the well inside to come to. From the sounds of the explosions as we left, she must have drained everything she had," Angela explained and then swapped for a second battery pack.

Before anyone could add anything else to what was being said, Jack turned to the extra individuals in the room, still stone faced.

"Out. Now."

Tracer saluted and was out the door before Angela turned to face the rest of them. Hanzo caught the cold look of disapproval from Angela's face and also made himself scarce. Everything seemed to be fine, but now he seemed to have more questions than answers. Genji followed him out the door but only down the hall a little way before leaning against the wall to seemingly wait for when he could go back into the Medbay.

Hanzo said nothing as he decided to head back to the boarding area of the ship so he could be the first off. This had been enough for one day and he looked forward to quiet meditation time.

Muffled voices seemed to hum in Akira's ear, and it was hard to distinguish what was being said. Her head ached but was already fading and she could feel hard metal in my hand. It took a moment to find the energy to open her eyes, everything still felt like lead, but energy was slowly coming back to her.

"Welcome back, kid," Jack stated from over Angela's shoulder. "You really pulled through for us back there."

Before Akira could even open my mouth to respond, Angela placed her hands on her hips and took a step towards Jack. "She did something dangerous and could have killed herself and you're giving her praise?!"

Jack ignored her and swung his legs over the bed, starting to rip off the bandages securing his left arm. He wasn't smiling but it was tugging at the corners of his mouth. Angela protested at his movement, but her pleas went ignored.

"I wasn't going to pretend that what happened wasn't dangerous. We got extremely unlucky and then lucky at the end. I'm not going to scold her for trying to get the team back safe considering what we were facing," he said gruffly and stretching his now free arm with a wince.

Angela threw her hands up in the air and went back to Akira's bedside to take away the now drained battery pack to place a new one there. The energy was building back up and she was starting to feel more and more awake.

"We've got more training to do in order to help prevent you passing out at the end of all that. I think we should still try to keep things under wraps as much as possible. The cats out of the bag but I'd like to think that they don't have a lot of information. They can speculate but they would have to study you in order to understand what it is you can do exactly. I still want to keep you as our ace in the hole," Jack said as he stretched and ignored Angela's very pointed frown in his direction.

"Understood," Akira said as she took the next battery pack. She was feeling much better now that her well of power was building back up. She'd have to figure out how to increase the size of what she could hold so she could manage it better.

"If you're done, I'd like to examine the patient more thoroughly to see if there were any other adverse effects from what she did," Angela bit out.

Jack couldn't resist a smirk then; he had been working with her for so long that he wasn't put off by her disapproval with him in that moment. They would talk it over later; Angela would make sure of that. He was also smart enough to know that her insight was valuable and while he may not agree with all her opinions, it still helped him make the best choices in the heat of the moment.

"I'm feeling much better actually," Akira attempted to say, not fully understanding the dynamic between the two and just hoping to get out of the seemingly tense situation.

"Don't move," Angela snipped at her without breaking eye contact with Jack.

"I will make sure that we prevent this kind of situation moving forward Ang," he said in a soft voice. "I would rather us discuss this further without the possibility of being listened into."

Her face softened in understanding then and with a small nod, she dismissed him and the conversation for another time. He nodded back and turned to leave. "I'll make sure to let Winston know."

At that point, Angela was in full Doctor mode again, the spat earlier completely forgotten. She used her equipment to measure everything as much as possible. There was still too much unknown with what Akira could and couldn't do and she wouldn't settle for anything less than a full examination every time.

"I'm fine, really," Akira attempted to protest but Angela wouldn't hear it.

"Until I know what all is affected everything time you do something, we will do this. I am not putting anything at risk," she chided as she finished her final review of Akira's levels. "You will want to have a proper rest, you are draining everything and having a sudden rebuild of your energy is going to strain your body. You're going to want to practice expending and recharging more to help adjust to this."

"Understood," she answered as Angela took the last battery pack away for charging.

They felt the ship shudder slightly as it landed and Genji entered at that point, taking it as the opportune time to enter the Medbay now that Angela's immediate concerns were addressed.

"Glad to see you are better," Genji said with a nod. "I can help you back to your room if you wish?"

Akira hastily shook her head as she slipped off the bed. "I'm good to get there on my own, thank you though."

"Don't you dare let her start training again for at least 36 hours," Angela piped up as she took inventory of what was used and what needed to be replenished.

"I wouldn't dare," Genji said with what sounded like a smile, if you could get that from only his tone of voice and no facial expression. "I can help you put everything back, what would you like me to start with?"

Akira promptly left the room with a small smile. It was obvious, to her anyways, that Genji liked Angela. Always offering to help, checking in on her, and guarding her back on any mission. It was rather sweet really.

"Thanks for saving our asses back there kid," a gruff voice called out as she disembarked the ship.

"Someone had to do it," she replied with a grin to the scruff man waiting off to the side. He tipped his cowboy hat off his face slightly and adjusted his belt.

"You gave us a scare back there," he replied, a smirk working its way up his face. "Glad to see everything is alright."

"You can't get rid of me that easily." She scoffed.

"Get rid of you? Where is the fun in that!" He huffed with a laugh and turned to walk back to the dormitory area of our base.

"You don't have to make sure I get there safe, I passed with flying colors from Mercy," she said but walked with him anyway. Another great sparring partner and a great tease. All serious when it came down to it but the first to joke around and lighten the mood.

"Flying colors, as in still having to be on bedrest before actually passing, right?" He said with a knowing look down at her.

"Don't pretend like you've gone against the Doctor's orders," She scoffed, earning another chuckle. "I'd have my ass handed to me by multiple different team members if I tried anything like that right now anyways."

"I may get away with a lot, but the Doc is the only one that doesn't ever let that slide for me," he admitted. "Only one that doesn't seem affected by my cowboy charm."

She couldn't help but laugh which earned an offended look from McCree. "Hey now…?!"

A breeze brushing around them announced Tracer's entrance. "I'm so glad you are alright! Had me scared for a minute there!"

"I hear Hanzo carried you to the Medbay," McCree added, giving Akira a side eye.

"Just because he is grumpy doesn't mean he doesn't care about his team," she defended with a hint of a blush that she couldn't hide.

Akira had found out quickly that he wasn't one to be bothered and got annoyed VERY easily. Wasn't sure why he avoided everyone as much as possible while still being signed up for Overwatch but she gathered it had everything to do with his brother and why Genji looked more machine than man. She didn't like the idea of not talking to him at all considering they all worked together so she stuck to mission topics. Anything to do with training and feedback only and only when he was in a public area. He was very quiet otherwise though, not sociable or easy to read.

"I agree! He is always so serious, but it doesn't mean he hates everyone," Tracer chittered, hopping on her feet as she walked with them.

"I would pay to see someone get him drunk," McCree hummed, more to himself than anything. "I wonder what kind of drunk he is?"

"When we were younger, he usually was a funny drunk. The more intoxicated he got, the more sappy," a voice answered which caused all three of them to jump.

"Why-…well-…" McCree sputtered, completely caught off guard like the rest of them.

Akira wanted to believe that Genji was grinning behind his mask, he liked to joke around and play when the situation allowed. It was hard to tell without seeing his facial expression, but she was pretty sure he was enjoying the fact he had snuck up on them.

"Well, I'm going to join the mission review with Winston, see ya!" Tracer said as fast as possible, and she was gone.

McCree muttered something under his breath and Genji just laughed. "The look on all of your faces was priceless!"

"I'm glad we could amuse you," Akira said drily but she couldn't hide the start of a grin. "We aim to please."

"Speak for yourself," McCree said but he also couldn't hide his own smile.

"I won't be seeing you for our training session tomorrow, but we can pick up as normal the day after," Genji added, tilting so it was obvious he was looking and speaking to Akira.

"Sounds good to me," she answered and slowed down as they reached the dormitory area of the base. "I'm going to get cleaned up and then I will see about getting some food going."

"Now you're talking! Whatever it is you're making, add bacon," McCree said enthusiastically.

"Maybe you could cook it yourself this time," Genji said with a slight shake of his head.

"If you want it as black as coal, then I can get that going for you," McCree offered with a wave of his hand as he continued to his own room.

"He is serious, don't ever let that man cook bacon," she muttered to Genji. "That is the reason why I always take over when he is in the kitchen."

"Then I will see you in a while. Ja ne!" He said and headed to his own room as well.

Akira entered her room and let out a huge breath she didn't know she had been holding. Her chest didn't feel tight anymore but the memory of that feeling still lingered. She rubbed it absently as she locked the door and promptly took off her uniform before entering the bathroom to shower.

Being the most recent recruit, Akira's room was the farthest from the kitchen and entertainment areas of the base but the closest to the training and docking area. There were plenty of empty rooms from needing them in back in the day when they could run fully staffed up but since we were supposed to be more under the radar, some if them remained empty. Mercy had her room tied into the Medbay in case there was an emergency. Winston had his next to the labs for easy access to everything. Tracer had her own room but wasn't there at least half the time since she had her own place with her wife. At least when there wasn't a pressing mission anyway.

There was an unspoken rule about having some space between each room. Things were quieter and people felt like they had more space to decompress. Reinhardt and McCree had theirs closest to the Mess Hall for very obvious reasons. Jack and Hanzo were next, followed by Torbjorn and Zarya, Genji and Tracer's half used room, Pharah and Sojourn, and Brigette and Akira.

As the hot water streamed down her back and started washing away the smoke and dirt, she let her mind wander and just enjoy the only sound being breathing and the water hitting the tiles. She had only been here a few months, taken in after Jack and Angela had found her. It had been a hard adjustment but a welcome one. Having her own space, having a team to work with, finding hobbies…she wouldn't trade it for anything.

It was nice to be able to be the one they could rely on for once after the disaster that was today. She really hadn't meant on going beyond her limits but there wasn't a chance in hell that she would let any of them get captured or hurt by Talon. She knew she was in for a scolding, but it was different to get praise, from THE Soldier 76 no less.

She stayed a bit too long in the shower by the pruning on her fingers, but she felt much better and the ache in her chest forgotten. She dressed in a gray shirt and dark exercise pants before heading down to the kitchen. She was looking forward to diving into a recipe she wanted to try and would absolutely make a side of bacon just for McCree.

"So, what's on the menu this time?" Genji asked as she walked in the door. Akira had to stifle a laugh as she took in his pink apron labeled "Chef Sweet Cheeks". It had been a gag gift from some time ago that was now one of the few usable aprons in in the mess hall.

"I was wanting to give this recipe I saw online a chance, sounded weird but cool. Have you ever made burrito lasagna?" she asked, picking up another apron from the rack. This one was green with comical vegetables printed all over. Another gag gift, people loved silly aprons around here.

"That sounds…terrifyingly appetizing?" Genji replied with a cock to his head.

"I'm just here to supervise the bacon," McCree announced as he walked in and sat on one of the stools on the side of the room.

"I didn't forget, I was just about to get it started," she told him while washing her hands.

"Good, you don't want to see me without bacon in my system," McCree added and leaned against the wall, propping one foot up on the other knee.

"Sounds terrifying by itself," Genji joked as he pulled out a frying pan to get the bacon started.

"You should be terrified," McCree said and tilted his hat down over his eyes. "It is indescribable the rage and horror I can bring if I don't have the right about of bacon in my bloodstream."

"I'm pretty sure Angela would say your sodium levels would be much better if you did have less bacon in your bloodstream," Akira added as she started pulling out the bacon from the packaging and adding a few to the pan.

"Haha…very funny," McCree muttered and crossed his arms.

Genji pulled up the receipe she had found on the kitchen tablet, and they started working through it together. He was a great cook and Akira had found it something she enjoyed when she first moved there. She hadn't ever really cooked before, and it was nice to make good food and then be able to share it with friends.

"Well…. it's something alright. Guess I'll go set the table," McCree said after giving his inspection of the food. "Not sure why anyone would want to mix lasagna and burritos but alrighty then."

"Just try something new, it won't kill you," she shot back at him as he pulled out plates and silverware to set the table.

"One of these days that saying is going to jinx the next person that eats something new!" McCree shouted back from the dining area.

Akira rolled her eyes as she started cleaning up the mess they had made while putting everything together. It was always the same comment and same banter every time and still he lived every time he tried something new.

"Hey! You know the rules!" Reinhardt interrupted as he shuffled through the door, sniffing appreciatively at the smell the cooked food had left behind. "If you cook, you don't clean up. Drop what you're doing!"

"Just trying to clean up after ourselves sir, no harm meant by it," Genji said as he held his hands up in defeat.

Rein laughed loudly and clapped Genji on his shoulder heartily, which earned a grunt from Genji considering the amount of strength Rein always forgot he had. "No harm done my friend! I will take up cleaning duty from here."

She shook my head and made her way around Rein as he put on his own custom Reinhardt apron (considering his size) and started cleaning up the dishes and wiping the counters. He always said it was easier to clean as you go instead of waiting for everything to pile up. He hummed something to himself as he cleaned up and she shuffled after Genji into the dining area.

The room was just a punch of circular lunch tables with simple chairs around them scattered around the room. Some digital screens were installed around the room to give the feeling of being able to look outside even though the base was deep inside a mountain. Winston said it made it feel more 'homey' even though a simple click of the remote could change the scenery to anything anyone wanted. Tonight, it was a view of a rainforest.

Akira walked over to a small podium in the corner of the room that held the remotes to the screens, the face to an intercom system, and a few buttons for lighting around the room. Pressing the one for the intercom, she announced dinner was served in case anyone was hungry and walked back to the kitchen to bring out the main dish and sides to one table.

McCree had pushed a few tables into a line, even though they couldn't exactly fit as circle tables, and set enough spaces for everyone. Akira lined the food dishes down the centers of each table and swatted at McCree's hands as he tried to swipe some garlic bread.

It wasn't long before everyone was inside and taking their seats, most making small talk or commenting on the spread across the tables. Jack had sat down at the head of the table with Mercy on one side and Winston on the other. Akira sat at the opposite end of the line with McCree, Genji, and Brigette. Everyone else assorted themselves accordingly and when Reinhardt sat down, being the last one in from volunteering clean up duty, the room went quiet.

"Today was unexpected," Jack started and looked around at each of us at the table. "But we managed to make it out okay thanks to Akira."

She couldn't help the blush that heated her cheeks and did an appreciative nod at the compliments and thanks from around the table.

"We did manage to get part of what we needed but what's more, is we made it out okay. Thank you for all of your effort today. Let's finish it off with some good food," Jack finished and picked up a plate of vegetables to serve on his own plate.

There was a mix of 'hear, hear' and 'thank yous' and 'I'm starving!' around the tables as everyone started reaching for what was close to dump on their plate. Food quickly passed around and everyone dug in as fast as possible. It was another unspoken tradition to have dinner all together after a mission. Celebrate making it out okay, wins, and just appreciating each other's company in general after a hard day.

"I wasn't expecting this to be that great, but once again you surprised me," McCree said with a mouthful of food. As usual, he had a side plate of bacon waiting to be devoured along with whatever he had chosen to eat.

Genji sat for a moment, chatting with Zarya on his other side until he picked up his plate and excused himself. He never ate with the group since it required his mask to be opened. Akira hadn't asked but she assumed it either had something to do with being self-conscious or his brother's presence. Might as well could be both as far as she knew but she didn't pry and thanked him for his help before he left.

"This is nothing compared to Papa's cooking. That is something that you never want to try," Brigette commented on Akira's right side earning a glare from her father down the table.

"I never heard you complainin' when you were growing up!" Torb protested.

"Kind of hard to hear the complaining when I'm sick in the bathroom later," she teased, flashing a bright smile at him which earned several chuckles along the table.

"Ungrateful whipper-snapper," Torb grumbled as he ate.

Conversation resumed to groups along the table, and it wasn't long before Hanzo also departed without warning, usually the second to leave if not the first.

"I gotta ask what you did to cause a distraction like that," Brig asked with a low voice.

"You and me both," McCree huffed out in-between mouthfuls of bacon.

"I just…. made things explode that shouldn't explode. Kind of hard to pay attention to things when everything is on fire, right?" Akira answered lamely and picked at her food.

Brig raised an eyebrow at her but didn't prod. It wasn't common knowledge what Akira could do, and she was under instructions currently to not divulge any details yet. Jack liked to think of her as the 'ace in the hole' for the team. Angela agreed but for her own reason of not understanding what she could do and couldn't do. It was better to explore safely and understand first. Winston had agreed and that was that. Akira didn't understand why if they were supposed to trust the team, but Jack had said the less information out there, the better things were.

It didn't help the fact that if her ability was known, she would be a target for Moira to study her. The idea of that alone made her chest tighten again and fill her with dread. Akira knew what she was capable of, and what her discoveries caused other scientists to do in the name of 'science'. It was the whole reason why she was here.

Seeming to sense her discomfort about the subject, Brigette changed it quickly. "Once the Doc has you cleared, we can go through some medic skills I wanted to review with you."

"That would be fantastic, thank you," Akira said gratefully.

"We'll work on your aim too. You still need some work based off what I saw back there with that group of Talon soldiers," McCree added, again between mouthfuls of bacon.

"Yes sir," she said with a small and sarcastic salute which earned a laugh from Brigette and a growl from McCree.

The rest of dinner was relaxed and taken leisurely. Eventually, people left in pairs to either continue conversation elsewhere or hit the hay a little early after all the action from earlier in the day. Akira attempted to clear the table before leaving but got a scolding from Rein which ended in him pushing her out the door by herself.

After a moment of standing in the hallway, she decided it would be best to thank Hanzo for making sure she was okay before being one of the ones to hit the hay early. She felt drained in more than one way and wouldn't hear the end of it if she was caught still up late at night.

She made her way to his room and lightly knocked on the door with the knuckles on her first two fingers. It took a moment, but he answered it with what looked like a scowl and a raised eyebrow.

"Sorry for disturbing you, I just wanted to thank you for earlier," she said. Quick and to the point was always best with him.

His face didn't soften but his eyebrow lowered as he nodded. "You're welcome."

"Have a good night," she said with a nod of her own head and headed back to her room.
