Always

Marinette wasn't sure when it started. It sort of just…did.

Chat Noir found her crying one night on her balcony, and stayed with her. He covered her with a blanket, and cuddled her until she felt better.

There was no pressure to talk, although she knew that he would listen and let her get it all out. Eventually, she did. She cried to him for hours. And then after awhile, she fell asleep on his chest. He let her stay there, and stroked her hair. He didn't move, even when the sun started to come up.

She couldn't remember what she was crying about that night, not anymore. But she knew he did.

After that, he kept coming. Every night. Sometimes they sat in comfortable silence together, just glad to have the company of someone else.

Sometimes they watched movies until 3 in the morning.

Sometimes she cried.

Sometimes he cried.

At some point, he'd just become her best friend. Someone she could always depend on, who she could trust fully and be completely vulnerable with. She felt safe.

Safe in his arms, in his lap.

And sometimes that was enough to make her cry. Just from the happiness of it all. Knowing that she had someone to hold her, to listen to her in no way anyone else had before.

She hadn't known it before, but deep down, that was all she ever wanted, and now having it was more special and magical than she could ever have imagined.

It was like her life felt complete. She felt whole.

And somehow, she knew Chat felt the same.

"I'll always be here for you, Princess. Always." He'd told her, and gave her a kiss to the forehead.

She couldn't help but burst into tears the night he'd said that to her.

Always.

AN:

If enough people request it, I'll develop this into a full story.

This was something I wrote 'in the moment', while I needed a little bit of comfort during an emotional moment tonight. (Don't worry, I'm all good!) Still, I hope people enjoy it and can find some comfort and happy tears of their own through this little one shot
