Author's Note:
This idea has been rolling around in my head for a while. I've only played Warlord's, Samurai's Destiny, and Demon Siege, but I'll be wiki diving for anything I might find interesting that those games don't cover. Something interesting I noticed was how warlord's and demon siege don't have the type of weapon in the weapon's name, even if it's in the kanji version (Ex. Raizen is thunder slash blade according to it's kanji, but is written as only thunder slash in romanji). Samurai's Destiny has most of the weapon types in both kanji and romanji (Ex. Buraitou is thunder dance sword in both, only the wind weapon doesn't follow this from what I saw). I feel it creates a difference between the orb/ring weapons the gauntlets use and Jubei's weapons that he uses without the gauntlets. I liked this enough to keep the naming mechanic for the original weapons I came up with

Jaune was in hell. How he wished the airship would reach its destination already. His stomach rebelled with since they had left port and hadn't let up once. He closed his eyes to will the bile back down. The din of other prospective students echoed around him as he lost control. He dashed to the closest bin, accidentally pushing into a girl as he went, but whatever she said was lost in his rush. After losing what remained of his breakfast in said bin he glanced over to his right arm, which gripped the side of the bin. A blue gauntlet with a white orb set in it like an eye adorned it.
He contemplated how if it wasn't for the organic looking thing attached to his arm, he wasn't sure how he would have gotten into Beacon's Initiation. The airship jolted as it landed, interrupting his thoughts and he followed the crowd as it departed. Jaune sat on a nearby bench and waited for his stomach to settle down. The queasy feeling had just died down when an explosion rang throughout the courtyard.
Jaune leapt to his feet and rushed to the explosion, in a flash of light he had a white and gray broadsword with an organic look to it's hilt in his right hand. He arrived at the explosion site to see a girl in a black and red gothic dress sitting despondent in the center of the crater. Looking around to see no one else concerned he pretended to sheath his sword while dispelling it. Approaching the girl he reached his hand out to her.
"Hey, need some help?" He asked with his best smile.
"Uh, sure… Thanks." The girl took his hand, and he pulled her up, "Hey, aren't you they guy that threw up on the airship?"
Jaune frowned, "Ugh, don't remind me."
"Okay, well let's go Vomit boy!" She said with a smirk.
Jaune started walking. "Come on! Motion Sickness is pretty common, you know…"
"Sorry, it was the first thing that came to mind." The girl giggled.
"Oh, and what if I called you Crater Face?" Jaune crossed his arms.
The girl stopped, "Hey! That explosion was an accident."
"Well, the name's Jaune Arc! Short and sweet."
"And I'm Ruby," The girl suddenly pulled a large block that unfolded into a scythe out, startled Jaune summoned the white blade again. "And this is Crescent Rose… how did you do that!"
Jaune rubs his neck with his free hand, "D-do what?"
"You summoned that sword! That was so cool! Is that your semblance? What does it do? Does it have a name?" Ruby barraged Jaune with questions quicker then he could think, getting closer to him with each question.
"I-uh-well…" Jaune wasn't sure if he should tell a girl he just met about Tentsubasa or his gauntlet, no matter how nice she seemed. "I'll tell you after initiation?"
Ruby went wide eyed, "You promise?"
"Arc's word." Well, that settled that, good job Jaune, he thought as they kept walking. "Hey do you know where we are?"
"Me?! I was following you!"
"Great…"

Jaune and Ruby had managed to find the auditorium, and he spent that night in thought. He was never told he couldn't tell people about the Oni Gauntlet; it's nature just made him wary to do so. It would come out during his time at Beacon he figured, plus he wasn't good enough to hide things anyway. Doing so would likely slow him down if he couldn't train using Tentsubasa.
By the time the start of Initiation came around he had made his decision, he needed to get stronger. He had to tell Ruby anyway, he gave his word.
Jaune was so caught up in his thoughts he hadn't noticed what the headmaster had said, something about the forest and relics? The next thing he knew he was thrown into the forest by a catapult under his feet, soaring through the air and getting closer to the ground.
"This will get attention..." Jaune lamented as he summoned Tentsubasa, light flashed as he unleashed its magic as he neared the ground and rolled to bleed the last of his momentum.
He stood and took in the forest around him. The bushes to his right parted and Ruby dashed toward him.
"I knew it! That was the same light that happened when you summoned your sword yesterday!" Their eyes met and Ruby smiled, "I guess we're partners then."
"We are?"
"Yes, the first person you make eye contact with, remember?"
Jaune rubbed the back of his neck, "I may… not have been paying attention."
The foliage around them shifted as creatures of Grimm came out from the forest, the black fur and white masks of the wolf-like beowolves surrounding them. Jaune backed towards Ruby as she pulled her scythe out. His grip on the weapon of light in his hand tightened.
"Looks like we have company." He grit out.
"Just some beowolves," Ruby dashed and cut through the ones in front of her before twirling her scythe behind her, "Piece of cake!"
Jaune cut though the wolf creatures that had rushed him, the light elemental sword cutting through them with ease. Ruby suddenly dashed in his way as he cut through them, taking a few out herself but threw him off balance. "Whoa!"
"Sorry!"
"Just be careful, we don't want to accidentally hit each other!" He responded while cutting down the last beowolf. "At least that's it. We're supposed to find some… relics, right?
"Yup, at the forest temple!" Ruby pointed in a direction, Jaune wasn't sure which one it was, but it was away from the cliffs, so it was something. They walked for a bit, the silence dragged on as they went, till Ruby couldn't take it anymore.
"I know you said you'd tell me after initiation but seeing as we're partners… what's up with your sword. And now that I think about it, what's with that gauntlet too, I don't think I saw you take it off even to sleep!"
"Yea…" Jaune sighed, " I did give my word. The gauntlet is called the Oni Gauntlet, it lets me summon Tentsubasa, a weapon with the power of light." Jaune waves the sword in question, with Ruby getting a good look at it, the sword almost looked like it was alive somehow. "It allowed me to save my village from a Grimm attack and earned me the right to come to Beacon. I don't know much else about it though, except it was created to fight something called Genma.
"Genma? Never heard of them, but that's pretty cool anyway right! It helped you protect people."
Jaune looked off to the side, scratching the back of his neck. "Yeah, it's pretty cool."
He notices a cave in the rock side as they walk. Next to the entrance is a drawing of creatures attacking people. "Huh, that doesn't really look like a Grimm, does it?"
Ruby examined the drawing as well, before shaking her head. "No, think we should look inside?"
"Hmm, you said the relic was at a temple? I don't think there would be a temple in a cave." Jaune kept walking forward. Ruby looked at the drawing one more time before following.

They had eventually found the temple, as well as Ruby's sister Yang and her partner Blake. There was also another group there, the white-haired girl from yesterday, two other girls with red and ginger hair, and a black-haired boy. For some reason the Oni Gauntlet felt warm when he was near the boy, but Jaune wasn't sure why. Maybe they could talk after initiation was over.
After they returned with the relics (Jaune and Ruby grabbed a horse chess piece) everyone returned to the auditorium where teams were announced based on what piece you had.
"And with the golden rook pieces Pyrrha Nikos, Lie Ren, Weiss Schnee, and Nora Valkyrie will form team PRSN (Parsnip) led by Pyrrha Nikos." The headmaster waited for them to make their way off stage before continuing, " And finally with the golden knight pieces, Jaune Arc, Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long will make up team JRBL (Gerbil) lead by… Jaune Arc."
Jaune couldn't believe it. Him, leader? It didn't seem real. He made his way off stage with his team before being stopped by the headmaster.
"Mister Arc, if you don't mind, may I have a word with you?" Jaune looked back to his team and nodded, curious at what the headmaster could want with him.
They made their way to the headmaster's office, then Headmaster Ozpin turned toward Jaune. "Tell me Mister Arc, where did you find that gauntlet?"
