Planet Sakana is inhabited by two species, the Sakanians and the Yu. Sakanians have pale bluish skin with orange irises and ocean blue. Yu are tiny colorful gelatinous creatures that take the look of different baby sea animals. Like Namekians, there are two Sakanian clans, the Dolphin Clan and the Shark clan:
The Shark clan are the warriors of Planet Sakana, known for engaging in battle to protect the planet. These members have two horns, pointed ears, a longer dorsal fin that retracts to spot danger, razor-sharp claws, as well as a bladed fin on the elbow. They have four webbed fingers and four webbed toes. Their gills are located near their neck and lungs. When out of water, their aquatic features retract and disappear until alerted. The clan members are also stronger and noticeably larger than their Dolphin counterparts. Like Saiyans, they get stronger as they face death because they store energy called Denkidan for special occasions. There are two different types of Shark members, the weaker yet faster being the Tiger Sharks and the Great Whites being stronger, but slower. Although lacking much Haiman, their Denkidan connection to the Eternal Dragon Eel is stronger than their Dolphin counterparts. These members are typically male and require a member of the Dolphin clan to reproduce.
The Dolphin clan are the healers and caretakers of Planet Sakana, known for watching over the life that dwells, nursing baby Sakanians and the baby Yu. These members have shorter dorsal fins and antennae that are used to telepathically communicate. Their gills are located near the neck. When in water, instead of webbed feet, their legs merge into a tail. When on land, they lack a nose and breathe through the pores of their skin. Like the Shark clan, their main aquatic features retract until alerted. They convert sunlight into magic energy called Haiman. Although lacking much Denkidan, their Haiman connection to the Eternal Dragon Eel is stronger than their Shark counterparts. These members are typically female and require a member of the Shark clan to reproduce.
When a Shark and Dolphin "Tsokolu" or marry, the link between them is so strong that one can tell when the other is in danger.
There are mutated Sakanians that acquire attributes such as tentacles, sensory barbels instead of antennae, the ability to emit an acidic ink substance, camouflage, winged elbow blades, giant jaws with sharper teeth, flippers instead of webbed digits, and bigger heads for stronger Haiman use.
King Tuneh is the only Sakanian that can reproduce both sexually and asexually. He and his newborn son are also the last living original Albino Namekians, as his other offspring evolved to adapt to the surrounding environment. He permanently stays in his Giant Namekian form.
The Sakanian leader and creator of Sakana's Dragon Balls, Tupuli Tuneh, originally born as Kasaga, reveals that his people are mutated Nameks called 'Albino Namekians' who were exiled from Planet Namek hundreds of thousands of years ago who learned to adapt to the aquatic environment of their new planet. Both him and his newborn son, Fugu, reside on Mount Kalamari.
The Sakanian Dragon Balls are white orbs with gold shapes on them, each sorted by the points of each star and laddering size (one being the smallest with a one-pointed shape and nine being the biggest with a nine-pointed star. The Eternal Dragon Eel, Tubos and Katumbu, are a two-headed eel with fin-wings and six whiskers of a catfish.
