Bubble Guppies Adult Years: Zero Chapter

Chapter 0.4: Odd Couple

It can definitely be difficult to live with a person who is very different from you. Normally this can cause conflicts of interest in the short or long term. Without a doubt, it is something inevitable without putting two people with very different personalities in the same place. If you thought Molly Gentilella and Nonny Pirruccello's relationship was odd, that's because you haven't seen what Deema Wahler and Urchin Lee-Rivers' relationship is like!

Let's remember a little. Both Deema and Urchin managed to get admitted to the university. The surprise is that both would enter the same university: Greater Bay State University. The possibility that both were roommates was high. For her part, the blonde girl had decided to study Business Administration. And besides having enrolled in the college drama club, she never gave up on her theatrical skills. The wheelchair boy, for his part, decided to take two university degrees that were connected in a certain way: Journalism and Photography. In this way, both guppies would be quite busy with their respective careers. However, they would have to deal with an important situation: Living together.

So is! They would both be roommates! This would be a great challenge for both of them. Well, their personalities are very opposite. While Deema is outgoing, dramatic and with an explosive and flashy personality, Urchin is the opposite: Reserved, introverted, shy and also wants to go unnoticed. In addition, the first days of both would not be easy. Let's start with day 1.

"Hello, college life! We have finally arrived!" Deema said happily. She began to quickly drop her bags as she gazed at her apartment in wonder.

"After a long time, the day came" It was Urchin. He managed to put some of his suitcases with the help of the blonde girl.

"It is…FIN-TASTIC! I finally have an apartment to myself! Free from my parents and my noisy brothers!" Deema said excitedly for her independence.

"You mean….our apartment. But I thought you get along with your parents" The boy asked curiously.

"Of course yes. But still, a little privacy doesn't hurt. Also, thanks to this, I can be a little more free here. I'm really too excited. I will meet many cool people! They say that in university things are very crazy and I fall into that category! I want to meet cool friends and go to so many parties! YOOHOO!" Our blonde friend was too excited. Urchin flinched a bit because she was speaking loudly with emotion.

"Well, Deema. I'm glad you're excited about this experience. Honestly, I'm nervous. By the way, I have to tell you this. I know you want to have fun and all that... and more than anything because now you are freer... but I advise you not to abuse that freedom. It is true, there is time for fun, but let's remember that we are in a university. And our priority is study" Urchin tried to advise her.

"Yeah….You have a point. I'll still try hard like in high school. As soon as I graduate from there, I will graduate from the university" Deema said with a confident smile.

"Not because you have passed high school you should underestimate university studies. Listen, Deema. As we are going to be sharing the same apartment, we must establish rules and divide tasks so that our coexistence is healthy and..." Urchin tried to explain a bit about what the rules should be like as roommates.

"Oh come on! Really?" Deema asked, a bit disappointed.

"So is. If we want to have a good experience for both of us, it is best to establish rules" Urchin answered.

"Oh yeah….I guess…" The blonde girl replied. She didn't like the fact that Urchin told her what to do. I mean, they are similar ages. Plus that could be boring for the outgoing girl. And the bad thing is that there would start a lot of problems.

The first days were not as complicated as expected. Well, both got along well and the academic demand was not so high at the beginning. A few days passed before conflicts of interest began to arise in this highly disparate duo. The problems began when Urchin noticed that it was difficult for Deema to fulfill her tasks in her apartment. Normally, she was busy with studies or with the social activities of her new classmates (although she was more distracted by the latter). Urchin was very busy studying for his two university degrees.

"Hey, Deema! Could you give me a hand with cleaning the apartment? I need to finish a report right now" The boy in a wheelchair asked her kindly.

"Sorry, Urchin! But I have an engagement with the Theater Club. I'll help you later, okay?" Deema said it quickly.

"But Deema…." And she closed the door. She was in such a hurry that she didn't even talk much with her friend. He just gave a defeatist sigh "(sigh) If I know her well...she won't do it" And so, he decided to clean up the place on his own.

It is true that Deema is possibly not acting like a good friend or a good roommate. However, not all of the problems were because of her. Urchin could also be a bit strict with her. Plus their personalities didn't mesh well. Obviously, this caused some arguments between the two partners. Fortunately, such discussions did not last long. However, the problems did not end. Deema neglected many responsibilities to go out and have fun. Well, she finally felt free. On the other hand, Urchin was strict with himself and thought of being strict with her. That's why he tried to impose rules on her. For example, don't do "Deema things" like loud music or parties. They both had their ways of being very conflicting with each other. However, there came a day that would be the last straw for both of them. This...is not good at all.

"Wow, Deema. Thank you for buying things for the apartment. We really need some things" Urchin was surprised. Well, he saw how his roommate was carrying some bags full of food.

"Actually…..These things are for the party I have planned for tonight" Deema said excitedly.

"Nice! Wait…What?" Urchin was confused.

"Yeah…some friends will come here to enjoy the party" The blonde guppy was very happy that she didn't pay attention to Urchin´s reaction.

"Deema…."

"I know…I know….I forgot to tell you a day ago. You know I'm very busy and distracted and..."

"Deema…."

"It's okay. If you want to stay, you are officially invited. We are going to have a great time with my friends!"

"DEEMA!"

"Huh?!"

"Deema! I thought we had already talked about those kinds of activities. Do I have to remind you?" Urchin crossed his arms.

"Oh…yeah…Rule 25: No parties" Deema said reluctantly.

"You know that this type of activity is not correct... especially with your new "friends", whom I don't trust at all!" Urchin tried to explain to her.

"Hold it there, Urchin! Stop treating me like a child. We are young adults! And we are university students! You don't have to be ordering me around all the time. You're not even my father or anything like that" Deema was starting to get angry. Urchin was intimidated. Well, he had a passive personality. However, he didn't like Deema's tone, so... he decided to face her.

"If you were mature like you say you are, you'd stop acting like...a Deema! Immature, dramatic and childish!" Urchin said it louder. That hurt the blonde, because that was what made Deema, well Deema!

"Oh! OH! SO AM I IMMATURE? At least I'm not a GRUMP like you! Even grumpier than Mr. Grumpfish himself. You only know how to give orders, rules, you never have fun and you never let me have fun. You...just study and that's it! I do too, but at least I have a social life...not like you!" Deema was very angry. Urchin was hurt by that, but that was not why he would give up. The tension increased.

"Maybe you're right. I don't have as many friends as you. But let me tell you something, Miss Popularity: At least my few friends are real friends. Not like yours. Don't you see? These new friends of yours just want to take advantage of you and your fame as Bubble Guppy. I know how they are" Urchin tried to advise her, even though he was angry.

"Oh! Now it turns out that you are a relationship expert? Since when do you know how to be a good friend?" Deema asked sarcastically.

"You know? At least I didn't kiss my best friend's partner just because of stupid jealousy like you. And you call yourself a good friend?" The wheelchair boy hurt her strongly with that sentence. She was paralyzed when she remembered when she committed that infidelity just out of jealousy. However, that was the last straw for Deema!

"Y…Y…YOU….AND YOU WITH WHAT RIGHT DO YOU SAY IT? THE ONE WHO BETRAYED HIS FRIENDS FOR A STUPID SELFISH REASON SAYS SO! WHO IS THE BAD FRIEND HERE? HUH?!" Deema screamed angrily. That was the word that killed Urchin, emotionally speaking. Both had been horribly hurt by those sentences. But Urchin did take it very seriously. His silence said it. He trembled a little, but he clenched his fists and turned his sad face into a serious one. While that was happening, Deema had calmed down and her regretful reaction was late. She covered her mouth as she understood what she told him "U…U…Urchin?"

"Hmmmm…..You're right. I'm a bad friend... and a bad partner. Do you know something ,Deema? Enjoy your party with your "friends". I'm not going to stop you...You're already an adult and you know what you're doing..." He decided to move his wheelchair so that his back was to her and began to go away.

"W…Wait…." Deema wanted to stop him.

"Don't worry Deema. I won't bother you with my silly rules anymore. Tomorrow morning I'll take my things and...I'm leaving here. I'll just take another apartment. You can get someone better. Goodbye" Saying this with a very serious tone, the handicapped boy decided to leave her alone and he...just left the apartment. He just wanted to get some fresh air. Also, Urchin couldn't help but feel guilty for the words he said to his friend. Deema simply sat on the sofa and covered her face with her hands, regretful for the words that came out of her mouth.

"Well done, Deema! You screwed up!" She said it to herself.

Hours passed and Urchin had not returned. The blonde was worried about her friend, but she had other things to do. She thought about preparing the party. More than anything so as not to ruin the celebration of her friends and not for her own pleasure. During preparation, she was trying to write to her roommate. She even called him on the phone. But there was no answer. She thought a lot about Urchin, because she didn't feel comfortable at all. However, night came. And her friends had arrived. There were many classmates from the same faculty. There was loud music, dancing and food. Deema's classmates were having a great time. All but the same hostess. She was sitting pensively eating nachos and was quiet. She was definitely not the girl we remember.

"Sup, Deema!" He was a very athletic and handsome boy. He was a brown-skinned guppy with black hair with a red tail with white dots.

"Oh! Hi, Paul" The blonde girl said not very happy.

"What's up girl? You should be the life of the party and I see you here so down and sad. Something wrong?" Paul asked her.

"(sigh) I'm just thinking about my friend Urchin. He... God... I said ugly things to him and well... I know we're different and we've never been close friends but... That doesn't justify anything I've said to him. Maybe he's right and I should be a little more mature" Deema commented on her problem with him.

"Don't worry about it, Deema. You will see how everything will work out. For now, it's your time. You should go out there and enjoy yourself. If you need anything, I'll be here for you" Paul smiled at her.

"You're right. Maybe if I relax, I can tell him how I feel. Thank you very much Paul. You're the best!" Deema said happily and she returned to the dance floor.

"You're welcome….my friend" When she left, the guppy smiled suspiciously. At that moment, a red fish boy appeared carrying a glass of drink.

"Dude….Here is what you asked for. Give it to Deema and you can have what you want most from her" His friend gave the glass to Paul.

"Very well done, my friend. Everything is going as planned. When I give you the signal, everyone should get out of here. Understood?" Paul ordered his accomplice.

"Of course, pal!" He added.

"Hehehe perfect" The male guppy took the drink and he approached Deema "Hey! You look thirsty. Maybe a drink will help you…."

While all these events take place in the apartment, we will focus on a peculiar place. We can see a coffee shop near the university campus, where our second protagonist of this story was. He looked like he was talking to someone else.

"...I don't understand. I try to be responsible with my studies and with my apartment chores. But it seems Deema doesn't value anything I do. You understand how I feel, right?" Urchin was talking with another person.

"Euh…Sir….You've literally been talking to me for 30 minutes and you haven't ordered anything. Are you going to order something or else I'll have to ask you to leave" It was a crab waiter, a bit bothered.

"Oh…sorry. Just…give me a black coffee…and some fries" Urchin finally ordered. The waiter simply left and Urchin stayed where he was thinking about his argument with Deema "(sigh) I wish Zooli was here. I really miss her. She is smart and would know what to do. It is that she simply does not understand! I try to advise her and help her because I know that she...well...there are things that she still needs help with. For example with responsibility. I don't know why she can't abide by all my long and boring…rules? Not! Just a moment! Why do I want Deema to do everything I say? NOT! It's JUST what mom did with me! Mom controlled me! And that's why I wanted to control Deema. It just can't be. I think I was too hard on her...I got it! I'm going to tell her I'm sorry!" Urchin finally managed to understand part of the problem. He had been demanding and bossy with Deema because his own mother was the same with him in the past. He, without taking the order from him, left quickly. Well, his epiphany came at the right time.

"Sir…Here I have your ord…Huh?" The waiter was confused because Urchin left the place. He was upset because he already had the order in his hands "(sigh) I don't get paid enough"

Meanwhile, at the party in the apartment. Deema made the mistake of trusting his colleague and drinking the drink he offered her. At first, she felt normal, her thirst gone. However, then she began to feel dizzy and began to feel tired. Which was weird because she wasn't supposed to feel like this before. She just sat back on the couch. Well, she wasn't feeling well. Paul, seeing her in that state, knew that his plan was working perfectly. He just had to take care of something else. He simply approached her with "good intentions" to ask her something about her.

"Oh Deema! Are you okay? Do you feel good?" He asked kindly. As she went into a kind of trance, she did not speak. But she answered with her head "Hmmm You do not look well. Do you want to rest? The party better be over. The noise is giving you a headache" Paul commented.

"Okay, everybody! The party is over. Deema appreciates everyone's help. But we must go now. See you next time" Paul's colleague said to all the guests. They all decided to leave one by one. They turned off the music and everyone left. The last to leave was Paul's friend, who just smiled at his comrade and winked. Paul noticed that he was finally alone with Deema. And not only that, but she was out of person with him. She was under the influence of the drink. So he decided to pick her up slowly and take her to her own room. He laid her down on her bed and he just looked at her for a few seconds

"My dear and sweet Deema. Seriously, you are beautiful. And the truth... I wish you. I finally got it" Paul decided to lie on top of Deema and tried to caress and kiss her. However, even though she was dizzy...She managed to see his true intentions.

"WHAT THE…..AHHH!" She began to use her strength to push him away from her "What the hell is wrong with you, Paul?!"

"Wow Deema, I thought you weren't going to react. My bad luck, you make my job more difficult. Can't you see, I really like you" Paul commented.

"W..What. Ugh….Why...I feel so...tired and weak...Wh...what was in that drink?!" Deema tried to escape, but she was in a bad condition due to the mysterious drink.

"I see that the drug works. Finally, you will be mine!" The boy decided to lie on top of her and began to subdue her. She was trying to fight him.

"What the hell are you doing?! Why are you doing this?! I thought we were friends?!" Deema asked angrily and scaredly at the same time.

"You see, darling...let's just say all the beautiful girls in college have been with me. All of them have given me what I wanted. I have a great reputation as a great lover. And almost all the beauties have been part of my collection. However, you, who were one of my favorites because of your….sensuality….but you rejected me! And no one tells me no" Paul explained his reasons. Everything indicates that he was an expert seducer.

"You know well why I rejected you. I have a boyfriend! And I am faithful to him! Besides, I would never do those things with a sick fool like you!" Deema slapped him hard across the face. However, he responded savagely with a punch to her face. She was so stunned that the boy managed to push her against her bed while he was behind her subduing her.

"You're like other girls, Deema. They act rude and refuse, but when you're with me, you'll like it" Paul said with a perverted tone of voice "So….So you have a boyfriend you say? Well, I wonder what would happen if he saw me taking the girl from him. And you know? He will know" The boy decided to take out his cell phone and decided to activate the video camera to start recording the act that he was going to commit.

"Enough! LET ME! I DO NOT WANT THIS! LET ME GO!" Deema started to scream for help.

"Shhhh Don't play hard to get. You're going to like it and you're going to prefer me to your stupid boyfriend. Although, I'm glad I'm the one who takes your virginity before your own partner" Paul said that with a sick tone. Deema wanted to defend herself and get out of there. But Paul's weight and strength were superior. He covered her mouth with one hand to avoid noise and with his other hand... he decided to start undressing Deema abruptly to find what he wanted. Deema started trying to quickly call for help and she started crying. She didn't want to miss that special moment with an idiot like Paul. And less she wanted to do that by force. Everything indicated that she would be a new victim of a forced sexual act.

Just as that was happening, Urchin was arriving at the apartment. The first thing he had noticed was that the lights were off. Which was weird, because it seemed like the party was over early. Which didn't sound normal on Deema's part. Another abnormal thing is that he noticed that the door was locked. It would be logical that she fell asleep after the party.

"How lucky I always have a backup key" Urchin said before he opened the door slowly. Before he could say anything, he noticed that the living room was a complete mess from the party. Before he complained about the mess again, he heard some suspicious noises. And those noises were coming from Deema's room. Urchin decided to go to the kitchen slowly and stealthily and took a frying pan in his hands. He knew something was wrong. When he approached his partner's room, he noticed that the door was open. He approached without making a sound and finally saw them in the act. Deema was still struggling with tears in her eyes while Paul was almost removing all her clothes.

"Hmmm Hmmm!" Deema was still trying to call for help. Because in the position she was in she couldn't see Urchin yet.

"Shhhh Relax, babe! You will see that you will like it. Although I will be the one who will enjoy more" Paul tried to take the next step. Urchin understood what was happening. His friend was about to fall victim to that fool. He understood that he had an advantage. Neither of them knew that Urchin was present. He took the opportunity to be tactical and approached Paul with his frying pan in hand.

"LEAVE…HER…ALONE!"

"HUH?!"

WHACK!

Paul couldn't even react in time when he was hit with the impact of the frying pan. The boy fell unconscious instantly. Finally Deema was free and she immediately covered herself with the sheets of her bed. She was breathing rapidly, her heart rate was up and her eyes were red from crying. She was finally able to see Paul on the ground and next to him the person who had saved her from a heinous act.

"Deema…are…are you okay?" Urchin asked with the frying pan in his hands. She couldn't even answer. She was shaking with shock as an after effect. She could only cover herself in embarrassment. And she started sobbing again. Urchin decided to approach her carefully so as not to scare her further.

"He….He…He tried to…to…(snif)" The blonde guppy was very scared to talk.

"It's okay. Everything is okay now. You are already safe" Urchin tried to comfort her. He began to calm her down a bit. While that was happening, he noticed a cell phone on the ground. He took it and noticed that it was Paul's cell phone. Urchin began to plan his next move: make sure that bastard paid for his crime. He knew what he had to do.

It didn't take long for the police to arrive. Well, Urchin decided to call them to stop Paul before he woke up. In all that time, Urchin decided to hack into Paul's phone to find more evidence, and at the same time, he was comforting his friend. Time passed and Deema was finally able to slightly regain control of her and one of the first things she did to her was change her clothes. Finally the officers arrived and took Paul away as soon as he woke up.

"UGH! Let me go, officers! I'm innocent!" Paul shouted angrily and he tried to break free.

"A video proves otherwise, boy. You're under arrest for attempted sexual assault. I hope you have a good lawyer, because you will be behind bars for many years. Take him away!" The commander ordered. Before they took him away, Urchin and Deema appeared near him.

"Don't tell me it was you who knocked me out! I got beat by a disabled guppy?! What a shame!" Paul was bothered to see them.

"You know what they say: Better skill than force. I'll make sure you don't hurt anyone again" Urchin crossed his arms and gave a very serious look.

"You! You do not know who you are messing with. You are making a serious mistake and you are going to pay for it" Paul said angrily and tried to hurt him. Without thinking twice, Deema stepped in and gave him a very hard blow to his crotch. Making him scream in pain and even writhe a little "AGGHHH"
"If you mess with him, you mess with me. That was for being a disgusting pervert" Deema said seriously. Luckily, the officers brought Paul to justice. When they left, Deema and Urchin stood in the same place in silence without saying a single word. They both knew what they had to say to each other, but they didn't have the courage to say it "Euh…Well…Urchin...I...Thank you for saving me. I don't want to imagine what would have happened if you hadn't arrived on time" Deema tried to start a conversation with him.

"It's okay, Deema. Anything for a friend" Urchin replied kindly. She decided to approach him and decided to hug him tightly. Urchin did not expect that reaction from her and decided to hug her.

"Snif….Forgive me, Urchin!..." Deema finally decided to bring up that topic while she was shedding a few tears.

"Huh?!" He was surprised.

"Forgive me for being a bad friend and roommate. I have been selfish, mean and stubborn. I get so carried away that I forget to be a good friend. I'm sorry I said those horrible things to you. Of course you are a good friend! You did everything you could to save us that night...and just today you saved me. Urchin, forgive me. You were right when you said that I should be more responsible and mature. Now I see that many of those rules were for my own good" Deema said with sadness and a regretful tone of voice.

"(sigh) Don't worry Deema. I forgive you. But you know something? I also have to apologize to you" The boy in a wheelchair admitted.

"Huh? For what?!" She was confused.

"I wasn't a good friend to you either. I wasn't a good roommate either. I wanted to impose so many rules on you and I even wanted to control you and even change you. All this because my mother did the same to me. I should have been more approachable with you and not be so strict and grumpy. Also, my mistake was not accepting you as you are. You are Deema Wahler, and we all love you just the way you are. Including me" Urchin explained his own mistake.

"That was sweet. You almost made me cry again" Deema admitted. They both decided to go back to the apartment and were greeted by the huge mess of the party.

"Oh yeah….We didn't have time to clean this up. Well I'll take care of this" Urchin decided to start with the cleaning. But Deema stopped him.

"No, Urchin. This time I will take care of this. I was the hostess and I had the idea. I will clean this" Deema decided to act a bit mature and she wanted to take this responsibility. Urchin was surprised with her reaction.

"No way. You went through a traumatic event. You should rest" He commented.

"And leave all the work to a friend with a disability? In no way will I be inconsiderate with you again" Deema defended herself.

"So…Let's clean together. After all, it is OUR apartment" Urchin commented. Deema decided to smirk a bit.

"You know? How about we clean this place up Bubble Guppy Style?" The blonde girl said with a smile.

"Okay? What do you mean?" He was confused.

"You just go with the flow, comrade! I just improvised something! You just follow me!" Deema said excitedly and dramatically.

"My…." Before he could react, Deema started humming a rhythm and started to put on music to start cleaning.

"Here we go!" She said excitedly.

Deema: "Tidy up! tidy up!

Come on everybody tidy up!

Everybody tidy up!

Tidy sweep, tidy clean!

Tidy up everybody

Yeah you know what I mean!

Tidy up! tidy up!

Tidy up, everyone!

Tidy up, everybody!

Til the tidy-ing's done!"

Deema began to sing happily and dance while cleaning the apartment. Urchin was amazed at how she managed to turn a tedious task into a fun activity. And what better way than to do it with a song! Like a Bubble Guppy! The boy smiled and he decided to sing along with her while they cleaned the living room, the kitchen, the bathrooms and the bedrooms.

Deema and Urchin: "Tidy up! tidy up!

Come on everybody tidy up!

Everybody tidy up!

Tidy sweep, tidy clean!

Tidy up everybody

Yeah you know what I mean!

Tidy up! tidy up!

Tidy up, everyone!

Tidy up, everybody!

Til the tidy-ing's done!"

Neither of them realized that they finished cleaning so quickly. The whole apartment looked like new. Both guppies looked at the whole place in amazement.

"Wow! We did it" The blonde guppy said happily.

"Right! I like how you turned a chore into something fun" Urchin admitted.

"I'm glad everything turned out well in the end. And now what do we do, Urchin? Any chore?" Deema asked curiously.

"Hmmm actually…..How about we go out and do something fun tomorrow? It's also good to take recreation time and let's say I haven't taken it. It's not good to overwork either" Urchin said with a tired tone of voice. After all, it was very late.

"You´re right (yawn) Have a good night, Urchin" Deema decided to leave him.

"Goodnight, Deema!" Both guppies said goodbye with smiles. And they both went to sleep in their respective rooms. Urchin was happy that he was finally able to fix his problems with Deema little by little. With this matter settled, he decided to stay with her. However, he decided to lock his door and covered the windows with curtains to make sure no one would see him. He decided to bring out a mysterious laptop that could only be accessed with a code. At that point, Urchin decided to start using it to access certain information. He managed to copy all the data that he extracted from Paul's cell phone. Thanks to that, he decided to look for information to not only leave Paul many years in prison, but also sink the accomplices. He thought of exposing all those involved. That would be one of his many goals. Urchin decided to take out an object that was hidden in his closet. Urchin simply decided to start with his new secret missions.

"Wait for the Unexpected" And saying that, Urchin put on the mask of "The Seer" once more.

Wow, such an interesting story. With a slightly dark twist. But in the end everything went well for our protagonists. Honestly I don't have much to say, nothing more than I will prepare the story of our next protagonist. It will be a quieter story than this, I promise.

Leave your reviews to know your opinions. And let's go directly to answering your reviews of the last chapter

JayBird06: Nice to see you here again. I am glad that you liked both the story and the character of Wilma. Which she will be important in BGAY. She will be a good friend, but the secret about Robynn could break Goby and Wilma's friendship. Even though he risked her life and faced her fear for her. I can only tell you to be prepared for what is coming.

PrimroseRaspberry: Good to see you here! The truth is that their friendship is very nice and we will see a little more of them soon. Unfortunately, when the moment of truth arrives, that relationship may be fragmented. As The Seer says: Expect the Unexpected

mermaidf: Hi there! I know, the twist on the villain's familiar is a classic. But I guess no one expected that from Robynn. Wilma's attitude will be best seen on BGAY.

And quickly this is all from my side. ReaderandWriter9000 says goodbye and see you in the next episode of Zero Chapter. Get ready and guess the next protagonist!
