"Herr Feldmarschall, our troops are in position, we wait for your command to commence the bombardment." The soldier saluted the general with a stiff motion.

Feldmarschall Klein looked at the walled city of the Earth Kingdom Capital and then turned to the junior officer.

"Fire when ready"

Seventy 38cm siege artillery commenced their bombardment. Thundering of cannon could be heard from miles around, shell after shell detonated at the walls of Ba Sing Se.

"If these people have any sense, they should be surrendering soon, before we have to storm the capital." Muttered Klein.

As he turned, Klein observed a messenger quickly running toward him, as he scrambled up the steps the soldier stopped once at the top in front of Klein, and quickly saluted.

"Herr Feldmarschall, Commander Kuvria and her staff approach, do you wish for her and company to meet you now?" The messenger had asked.

"Send them in, let them see some of what the Osterreich is capable of."

"Javol mein Herr!"

"Companie, Achtung!"

Soldiers from the Kaiser's own first regiment lined the platform at attention as Kuvria and her officers made their way toward the platform where Klein and his staff were positioned.

As Kuvira approached Klein, the officer extended his hand in greeting. Kuvria shook Klein's hand with firm reciprocation.

"I must say, I am quite envious of your men's discipline."

Bolin, who accompanied Kuvira, felt a twinge of uneasiness as his eyes darted back and forth from the emotionless foreign troops standing as if they were statues.

"I-If I didn't know better, I would think these guys were robots." Bolin meekly added.

Both Kuvira and Klein turned toward Bolin and heartedly laughed at his comment. After there laughter died down, Klein turned to both Kuvira and her officers.

"These men are the pride of the Kaiser's Imperial army, every last one of them have been drilled to the fullest extent, and are expected to perform well in coordination with your troops." Klein smiled as if he were a proud father boasting about his children.

"Glad to hear it, and is it expected that the assault will commence once the walls are breached, but there is still hope that the inhabitants will see to reason" Kuvria, while wanting to unify the Earth Kingdom, had wanted to shed as little blood as possible. While most of her campaign had been just that, subduing the fraying imperial governors, Ba Sing Se was under direct authority of the Imperial cabinet. As such, fierce resistance was seen throughout the province.

"Their surrendering would make our jobs a lot easier." Agreed the field Marshal.

-Ba Sing Se-

Explosion after explosion was hitting the great walls of Ba Sing Se, the imperial guards were drawing up rocks to recover the holes blasted by the shelling as fast as they could, however, more and more holes were appearing faster then what can be covered. Explosions and the force projected by the blast was something most guardsmen had not experienced and while some held, others fell into shock or fear due to the consistent screaming of shells and the impact they made.

Seeing their situation was hopeless, the Captain made one of the hardest decisions in his career… he will surrender the city to spare the populace.

-Republic City-

Crowds gathered at the sight of the strange foreigners that have arrived in the city. Men in gray uniforms armed with slinged staffs were escorting men dressed in suits toward city hall. The Republic city police force under Lin Beifong were in full force policing the crowd, though even the officers wondered who were these men.

"Who are they?"

"I've never seen soldiers like those before."

"What business do they have in Republic city?"

With the council in session, the foreign soldiers alongside Republic city police were stationed outside and inside city hall. Reports flocked to the scene attempting to figure out what was going on.

The president of republic city and the city's council members all were present in the room. The president was the first to speak.

"Ah, forgive me, however, what business do you have here today? I am not familiar with the reason for your visit or even who you represent." The council members nodded in agreement.

Without expression, the lead representative spoke.

"Good afternoon, I am Otto Schmidt and I am head of this delegation from Das Osterreich, here today. We are part of the Kaiserlich und Königlich Auswärtige Dienst sent by our sovereign to deliver a formal declaration of war toward the city state of Republic City."

"W-War? You must be mistaken ." Tenizen was the first to speak.

"Our Kaiser does not make mistakes, we are to honor our alliance with the fledgling Earth Empire, and as such their enemies will become our enemies, that is all."

As the delegation left, the media had a field day, with articles of the abrupt declaration of an unknown foreign power, and the imminent threat Republic City faces.

As the council discuss the next plan of action , the president has called in the mobilization of Republic forces and the militarization of the Police Department.

"What? What do you mean mobilized? Our department is understaffed as it is dealing with the spike in crime and you want us to play soldier when you know full well that there is already an armed force in place? This is something we can not deal with now." With a slam of the phone Chief Lin ended her call.

"Who was that chief?" Mako had just arrived in her office when he heard the smash.

"You're not going to believe this kid… we are now at war."

-End-

Cringe? Sure, I like the setting of Korra and I like the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. A weird mix for sure, but eh, the whole EArth empire reminds me of the Warlord period and the Austrian-Hungarians at the time had a colony in China so.. it's loosely connected? Maybe. Let me know if you wanted more and if not, this is probably my only chapter.
