Author's Note: Sorry if this is short. Like I said, I don't really know what WWE Superstars usually do in between shows. But I've got their next matches all set.
Hope you enjoy the chapter. Any and all comments are welcome.
While being a WWE superstar has a thousand perks, it also has just as many struggles. Sure, I have to deal with strong opponents in the ring, comments from trolls in the WWE Universe, and intense training that I have to do daily. But in my opinion, nothing could possibly be worse than travel.
Just a few of months before I joined the Performance Center, I had my first crash. No one was hurt, but it wasn't pretty. So at a young age, driving was stressful to me. Did I mention that I had to cover my own travels? So I had to drive constantly to my next destination on my WWE journey, which at the moment, was Fort Worth, Texas.
Thankfully, the recent change in WWE management was able to cover for my hotel expenses as long as I had a roommate. Now, the management staff was careful about who would be assigned to be our roommates during our stays so there wouldn't be any hostility. Also, they kept the room numbers to themselves so no one would try to sneak attack us in our sleep. I was quite curious to see who I got to share my first room with.
After I checked into the front desk lobby at the hotel, the concierge gave me my room key. "Room 411". I thanked him and headed to the elevator with my luggage. I packed light since I wouldn't be staying long in Fort Worth. I just had my clothes, my bathroom essentials, and a couple of momentos from home all in one suitcase. After getting off the elevator, I searched for the room I was assigned to and stopped when I found it.
I slipped my key into the lock and turned it. I opened the door and walked right in. The first thing I noticed was a suitcase that was already there, which meant that my roommate was already there. The next thing I noticed was the pillow being swung at my face. I didn't react fast enough to prevent it from sending me falling to the floor.
"Oh, my god! It's you! I'm so sorry!" After regaining my focus, I looked up and saw that my apologetic attacker was none other than Roxanne Perez. She helped me up to my feet and brushed her hands down me with an embarrassed smile. "I thought you were one of my enemies who found me and wanted a piece of me."
"How many of your enemies have a key to your room?" I asked.
Roxanne chuckled nervously. "Again, sorry about that. Tell you what. Room service on me."
"Thanks." I said picking up my briefcase. I took a proper look around the room. It was nice with two beds and a TV in front of them. The bathroom was at the far end. "Oh, and thanks again for saving me from Cora Jade. She was not happy at how a newcomer beat her."
"I know about that." Roxanne said. "I guess that's why Regal made you my roommate. Less chance of any bad blood between us. Just promise not to hit me with a skateboard."
I couldn't help but chuckle. "Don't worry. I'm not as petty as Cora."
"Petty is one word. Another is delusional." Roxanne said. "She thought I abandoned her just because I wanted a shot at a singles title. So she attacked me with her car and sabotaged my match against Mandy Rose. So that settles it. We're no longer friends. But enough about me." She sat down on her chosen bed. "Tell me about you. I'm quite curious."
After setting down my suitcase, I sat in the other bed facing my new friend. "What would you like to know?"
"Well, you went to the finals of the Mae Young Classic, right?" Roxanne asked.
"Not just went to the finals. I should have won it. But Michelle McCool pulled a cheap shot and stole the win from me. And now, she and her pal, Layla, are palling around in Smackdown. If Mr. Regal hadn't seen my potential, I'd be staying in the Performance Center right now."
"I get it." Roxanne said. "Well, what about your life before you joined WWE? What's your home like?"
"My home?" I asked. "Well, I'm from Chicago. I live with a single dad. I was a star soccer player at my old school, but when I turned 18, I signed straight up to the Performance Center. Three months later, I was in the Mae Young Classic… and you know the rest."
"Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate." Roxanne said. "Was it a sad goodbye from home?"
"Not really. I mean, it wasn't easy, but it was great to have my dad and all my school friends having my back. That made me all the more motivated."
"Well, you better hope that you don't have to face me." Roxanne said. "I like you, Carly, but I'm gunning for the championship."
"May the best woman win." I said. That's when my phone buzzed. I pulled it out to see what it was. "Huh. Speak of the devil."
"What is it?" Roxanne asked.
"It's Mr. Regal." I answered. "He's booked my next match tomorrow night."
"Oh, good. Who are you facing?" Roxanne asked.
"Give me a second." I opened up my email app and checked the message that the general manager sent me. "Whoa. Okay. It looks like I'm going against Tiffany Stratton."
"Ouch." Roxanne said. "I wouldn't underestimate her if I were you. She may be a prissy daddy's girl, but she's definitely no pushover."
"I've seen her past matches. I know what she's capable of." I said.
Suddenly, Roxanne's phone buzzed too. She pulled it out and smiled at the email on it. "Well, look at that. I've got a match too. Mr. Regal put me in a match against Cora Jade. She probably requested it to get back at me for saving you."
"Good luck." I told my new friend.
"You too." She returned to me.
