In a galaxy far far away...

As the Galactic Empire expanded farther and farther it consumed unending levels of resources to keep its unstoppable military moving forward, and thus the Galactic Empire was always on the look for a quick grab of resources.

In a mid-rim system known only as "Mortem", a resources-rich moon was found to be orbiting the fourth planet of this system, though restricted by the Old Republic the Empire established a mining colony.

Now, just after three years of operations, the colony has gone dark, and after all attempts of reestablishing contact failing, the Imperial Star Destroyer "Vindicated" is dispatched to investigate the situation.

Just out of the Gravity well of Mortem IV's moon, the Imperial star destroyer Vindicated exits hyperspace and begins its final approach to the moon. As the Vindicated approaches the colony they attempt to establish radio contact though their calls go unanswered, an unusual situation as you'd think with over a thousand people somebody would pick up the phone.

Down on the moon, a lone Stormtrooper cautiously moves down the deserted hallway. He originally attempted to get to the hangar in hopes of finding a shuttle, though these hopes were shattered. All the remaining shuttles that he knew how to fly would barely take him into orbit let alone back to civilization. When these final bits of hope were crushed he felt like giving up, there was no chance of escape, no hope for survival. He figured he'd go into bowls of the colony and let the nightmarish creatures that had invaded not only the colony, but the very bodies of the colonists, finally have him. That was until he looked up.

His helmet's built-in binoculars could barely make it out, but TK-1776 known by his friends as "Bob " could never mistake the triangular shape of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer entering the moon's orbit. It turned out there was a little bit of hope left in him, and he once more found his will to fight. Now Bob goes threw the carnage-filled halls of the colony, heading towards the colony's main control facility. If he was lucky the colony's long-range communication equipment should still be operational. However, things were not all rainbow and sunshine since he re-found his will.

It was too quiet, in the hours and days when the outbreak first happened chaos and destruction were all around them. Before Bob knew what was happening, his team was torn apart right before him with the larger pieces coming back to life only to try and kill him themselves. But now, he hadn't seen any of the reanimated creatures up-close in a while. If he looked out the window and peered across the way into another part of the colony he could catch glimpses and shadows of the creatures moving around, looking for their next kill. However, none of them were close enough for him to worry about. The only thing he'd come into contact with was that fleshy growth that started growing on walls, floors, and especially around the vent covers. That was until he turned the corner.

A pile of bodies lay in the middle of the hall, and at first glance, it was nothing special about them. However, this wasn't the first time Bob had encountered this type of trap as at the bottom of the pile hid one of the creatures, the kind Bob dubbed "Slashers" due to the large boney scythes that grow from what was once the victim's hands. Bob paused for a moment as he debated the best course of action, during the opening moments of the outbreak Bob's issued E-11 quickly proved to be less than effective when taking out the creatures, resulting in Bob using mining tools and equipment to kill them. However, that was before he learned that dismemberment was the fastest way to neutralize these undead monsters. This fact, plus the fact that he was running low on charges for his heavy mining laser forced him to once again pull his E-11 from his holster, and give the pile of bodies a big'ol kick.

The creature quickly leaped from the pile, throwing the bodies that lay on top of it around as it did so. However, Bob had one more advantage over these Slashers, his sheer size and strength. He had always been known for his large stature with some calling him "Bob the Mountain" back when he wrestled, and now he relied on it once more. After establishing Bob as the one who triggered its trap, the Slasher let out a disgusting gurgling roar from what remained of the victim's throat as it charged at him.

Bob swiftly stepped out of the way of the first swipe before ducking under the second and slamming his shoulder into the Slasher crushing it between himself and the corridor's wall. If this creature was a normal man, the fight would be over, but this thing didn't feel pain the same way normal creatures does, with his slam attack doing hardly any actual damage. All it managed to do was stun the creature for a second or two, but these precious seconds were all Bob needed to get his E-11 pulled up, and squeeze the trigger.

The first trio of bolts Bob released from his blaster tore off the right arm of the Slasher causing it to stagger backwards letting out another roar, almost as if it was in pain. The creature quickly regained its composure and prepared for another attack, but Bob didn't give it the chance before he unleashed the second trio of bolts separating the Slasher from its other arm. With the final arm removed the Slasher let out a loud blood-curdling scream as it slumped over "dead". Bob didn't know if this actually killed them or not, all he knew was that they stopped moving if he removed enough limbs. Sometimes all he had to do was remove the arms but other times he had to leave nothing more than a bloody lump on the ground.

With his foe vanquished Bob resumed his journey to the colony's main control facility in hopes of contacting that Star Destroyer before it was too late.
