The tram was incoming and would be docking in a matter of seconds, unleashing that brute upon him. Bob frantically looked around for something, anything to give him a fighting chance against this massive monster. He quickly realized that he was starting to panic, and decided to take a knee to calm down knowing a panicked mind will only get him killed. He quickly took stock of his weapons and munitions. His E-11 would barely deal with the Slashers and other "common" monsters he ran into, so in this fight, it'd be useless. He had a few grenades he made from mining explosives, and a couple of flash-bangs, both of which wouldn't help him. Then he remembered, the mining laser he'd been lugging around. Its laser was strong enough to melt through solid rock within minutes, so it should have no problem against that monster, however, there were two problems.
The first problem was that it was originally meant to be hooked up to a portable power generator, but since Bob un-hooked it, it's been running off its internal battery and right now it was almost empty, he'd have to make each shot count. The second, a bit more pressing, problem was that he had left the laser on the tram loading platform when he went to find that Gonk droid, and right now, the tram was pulling into the station.
Bob took cover behind a crate as he watched the tram slow down, and finally come to a halt as it pulled up to the loading platform. The tram doors slowly opened, and he braced himself for the monster to emerge from the tram, however, it never did. He could barely see the top of the creature's back through the tram's windows. It appeared to be laying down, and possibly sleeping, a thing Bob didn't think they did. More accurately it was probably dormmate, such a large creature probably needed a lot of energy to move around, and thus when there were no people around to kill, it went dormmate. Whatever that Brute was doing, it was on the tram, and he needed to get it off to kill it... or did he.
As previously mentioned, Bob's mining laser was lying on a seating bench that was mere meters away from the tram, if he went for it, he'd no doubt wake the monster, but what if Bob didn't need the mining laser. Bob un-slung the assault pack he carried to assess his inventory. He went digging for his improvised explosives, as a plan started to formulate in his head. Back when this whole nightmare erupted, Bob and his squad were sent to the mines to help a group of miners, only to find them dead. Even back then, his standard-issued E-11 was starting to prove ineffective against groups of these creatures. To balance the odds he took the mining laser, as well as some explosives that he crafted into makeshift grenades. Originally meant to blast apart meters of solid rock, these little improvised grenades were stronger than even a thermal detonator, though far less controllable. He might blow himself up in the process of trying to kill this monster, but he had no other option. Even if he could reach the mining laser in time, it would take him too long to get it powered on, and aimed to kill this Brute before it killed him, but Bob had faith in his plan.
His new plan was simple, he'd board the tram without alerting the beast, get to the front of the tram, and close all the doors and accesses leading to that particular tram car. Once it was locked inside, he'd start the tram up, and get them moving towards the Main Control Facility. While en route, Bob would through as many of his explosives into the tram car as he dared. The explosion should be large enough to kill the Brute, and even if it didn't, it'll surely sheer the tram in half. Bob's only fear now was whether or not the explosion would derail them. Nevertheless, Bob had to act, and he had to act now.
Bob slowly, and cautiously emerged from behind his crate, and made his way to the tram. He made sure to place as many forms of solid concealment between him, and Brute in hopes it wouldn't spot him, but he shouldn't have worried. Soon he was onboard the tram, and making his way toward the front, though this wasn't as easy as he'd hoped. The tram cars leading towards the front were littered with all kinds of noisy garbage, suitcases, rubble, and of course dead people. He had to make sure not to knock anything over, or risk the noise waking the Brute.
After a close call with a child's squeaky doll that he almost stepped on, Bob finally made it to the front cockpit of the tram. Once inside the cockpit, he closed the door behind him, glad to finally have a bit of concealment between him and the Brute once again. Now it was time for Bob to get to work. At first, he was a bit worried as non of the control's lights were on, but it was merely a side effect of his power surge, a breaker or something must have been blown. All the buttons and controls appeared to be still functioning, though trying to make his way through the tram's control menu with a dead monitor was annoying. In the end, he got the tram moving again, and it appeared to be heading toward the Main Control Facility. Now it was time to deal with the Brute.
Just as Bob started to try and figure out how to lock up the Brute in its tram car, the entire tram shook so violently that Bob feared they'd derail so soon after leaving the station, but then it settled back down. Bob knew it was the Brute, the tram moving must have disturbed it, but with hopes, it wasn't awake, not fully anyway. Bob opened the cockpit's door by a crack to peer down the tram but was forced to quickly shut it again. The Brute surely did move around a bit as it was much closer to the front of the tram, but this didn't change the plan, only made it more dangerous. Though as Bob turned his attention back to locking it up, he ran into a new problem. He had no idea how to do that.
With the main monitor dead, as well as not even knowing which tram car the Brute was now in he had no idea how to close the doors, his plan surely was becoming more dangerous. Bob quickly thought it over, first trying to see if he couldn't restore the terminal lights, and get the monitor back online, but again, he wasn't an electrical engineer. Without any other options that Bob could see, he figured his best bet was to simply through his improvised explosives at the Brute, and prey.
With his grenades in hand, he opened the cockpit door by a crack to get a good idea of how far he'd have to through. It was farther than he thought but much closer than he'd like. As Bob armed his grenades and lit their fuses he figured dying in a fiery explosion was probably one of the better ways to die right now.
Bob opened the door fully, and through the grenades. Bob didn't wait around to see if the Brute even noticed him, but judging by the fact that the tram was once again starting to shack violently, it noticed. He counted down the second in his head till those homemade grenades would go off. He counted out five seconds, but after the fifth second, no explosion. Bob panicked that he didn't set the fuses right, that they were duds, and as he thought of a backup plan he realized that he left his mining laser back in the previous facility, but then the tram was shaken by a new force.
The explosion rocked the entire tram, causing it to wobble on its track, but thankfully it didn't derail. After the explosion, Bob re-collected himself from the floor, and with ringing ears, he opened the cockpit door. Those grenades were surely stronger than thermal detonators as everything from the first few tram cars back was now gone. Bob could still make out the rear section of the tram through the massive hole a few hundred meters back now, and he could even see the portion of the railing that the explosion blew off. There was now no way back to that facility, not by tram anyway, but Bob figured he wouldn't be going back there anyway.
Bob returned to the cockpit and sat in the conductor's chair as a broken, and distorted robotic voice said over the intercom, "A-arriving to Main con-control facility, have a pleasant stt-stay." Bob chuckled to himself but felt finally relaxed. He was on the verge of contacting that Star Destroyer and getting the hell off this rock. He was almost home free.
