Paul ended up choosing Sabella over Monica. He loves Monica, wished that their marriage could have been salvaged, but what he feels for Sabella is just as strong if not stronger. He feels like Sabella really understands him, not to mention they can make their relationship work with him being Spider-Man. True, he had that with Monica, but what he has with Sabella he finds to be...unexplainable. What neither of them are aware of his that they will be tested on how devoted they really are to each other. Even though Paul did choose Sabella, not much has changed. The virus was still released, Hydra and his team were still beaten and caught, and people still died. Weeks after the incident, Paul was trying to move on with his life one day at a time. He still lived with Sabella and was still trying his best to deal with his mother's death. As Paul watched the sun rise, he was given a cup of coffee to get through his day.

"Regular with cream, just how you like it." Sabella said as she gave him the cup.

"Thanks." Paul said as he took it and had some of it.

"How have you been doing?" Sabella asked as she was concerned about him after his mother's death.

"Feels like I failed her. I could have saved her, but I know she would agree that I made the right choice." Paul claimed. "She knew I would do the right thing and I did. What I did saved so many lives."

"It did." Sabella said as she wrapped her arms around him. "She would be proud of you."

"I just wish her life didn't need to be sacrificed to do that." Paul said as he misses his mother greatly. He's just grateful to have Sabella comfort him for that. He feels at peace with her. "Anyway, I can't sit here and mope around. After all that, I still got to do everything I can to protect the city." He claimed as he got up and grabbed his suit.

"Is it okay if I come with you?" Sabella asked.

"Really?" Paul questioned. "I thought you didn't want to play the part of the hero or vigilante like me."

"I don't, but my brother and his men did harass this city and I wish to fix it." Sabella said. "Plus, since Christoph Silvio decided to shutdown his company, I'm now a free agent."

"So... You're really just bored." Paul joked. Either way, he was glad to have Sabella around for this. He just simply enjoys being with her.

...

The City

With Sabella holding on, Paul swung through the city as he did his usual patrol and looked around for any trouble. After what happened with the virus, Sable International, and everything else; Paul and his friends need to make sure the city is well protected.

"Watch out! Coming in hot!" They looked behind them and saw Venom with Blite holding on with all of them landing down on a roof. "Of course, I'm always hot."

"Beg to differ." Lindsay joked. "Hey, Sabella. What are you doing here?"

"What? Am I not allowed to join my lover on his patrol?" Sabella joked.

"I see we're really rubbing off on you." Thomas said with him noticing Sabella's sense of humor is improving.

"I take it you guys didn't find anything too out of the ordinary." Paul said.

"Not really. The city has been pretty quiet lately." Thomas said. "I guess that whole thing with Hydra and the virus might have given some people a good scare that they would behave."

"They all would like a time to relax, but this is probably just the calm before the storm." Lindsay said. "Spider, do you think you and I could talk for a moment?"

"Sure." Paul said as they both moved away from Sabella and Thomas to talk in private.

"I take it that things between you and Sabella are going well? You're not confused, doubtful, or anything?" Lindsay asked considering the talk they have before. "Given everything that has happened lately, you and she are doing okay, right?"

"Yeah." Paul claimed. "If anything, the whole thing brought us closer together. Given everything that happened with her brother, my mother, and everything else; she and I are a lot closer. I'm starting to think you had the right idea, Lindsay. As great as part of the past was, I need to start looking towards the future." He looked towards Sabella and can just vision a future with her. Just then, the tech in Paul's mask went off and it was alerting him of trouble. "Looks like we got something going on."

"What is it?" Lindsay asked.

"I'm hearing reports of a stolen truck driving in West Village near the Hudson." Paul said. They should have known that criminals wouldn't stay quiet forever.

...

West Village

The police were in pursuit of a stolen truck. They were able to chase after it and it backed into the lot of a factory. They decided that they were going to stand and fight against the police. Ray and his men kept themselves hidden behind their cars as a gun fight was going on.

"Surrender peacefully and no one has to get hurt! There's no reason for this!" Ray shouted as he tried to get the crooks to stop shooting.

"Come and get us, cops! We ain't going down without a fight!" One of the criminals shouted.

"You want a fight? We'll give you one." One of the crooks looked up and saw Venom coming down at him. He smashed down on the crook and took him out in one strike. Some of the cops tried shooting at him, but he quickly moved away. As for Paul and Lindsay, they landed down with the police to ensure they're okay.

"Ray, is anyone hurt?" Paul asked.

"So far, no." Ray said. "I'm not sure who these guys are working for, but they've made it clear that they won't come quietly."

"Do they ever?" Lindsay complained. "What's in the truck? Money? Gold?"

"From what I've heard, some dangerous weapons that we don't want getting out in the streets." Ray said.

"No worries. They won't be going far. We've got some eyes in the sky." Paul said as he looked to a building. Sabella was setting up a sniper's nest so she can take action.

"If I aim just right, I can incapacitate them without taking their lives." Sabella told herself as she was aiming carefully.

"I'm going in!" Paul said as he decided to take action. He jumped around all the bullets and were able to avoid each shot thrown at him. When he got near two of them, he shot a couple lines at them and pulled their guns right out of their hands. Once he did that, he fired a barrage of webs on one of them and got him to stick to the truck.

"Damn Spider!" One crook shouted as he tried to attack him directly, but Paul caught his arm and threw him to the ground.

"Let's see what is so..." Paul was about to reclaim the truck, but his spider sense alerted him of more danger. He looked around and saw two others on a different building with rockets on them. "Above you!" He shouted as he pointed to the building. They all looked and saw the rockets were launched at them. All of them moved out of the way, but the rockets still made impact and caused some explosions with a lot of people being blown back from the impact.

"Ray!" Thomas called as he hurried to him. As for the crooks, they took the time to recover and kept on fighting with Spider-Man and Blite trying to fight them off. Thomas hurried over to Ray and made sure he was okay. "Ray! Can you hear me?! Are you okay?!"

"Yeah... It's just a dislocated collar bone." Ray joked in pain.

"I can take them and..." Sabella aimed right at the two who used the rockets, but she noticed something about the weapons that left her shocked and surprised. Just then, they all heard something flying through the air. It was some type of airship and it was right over Sabella. Sabella took a look and saw her brother was piloting it. "Sabastian?" None of this was looking good at all.

"What's that ship? What is going..." "Hey, Spider!" Paul turned to the truck and saw him pull out one of the weapons and he recognized it.

"That's... That's Sable International tech!" Paul said as he couldn't believe it. The crook opened fired with it and the weapon fired laser shots like it was a machine gun. Paul and his friends moved quickly and took cover from it.

"Let's go!" The crook shouted as they loaded up the truck and got out of there.

"Hey! I'm still on the side of the truck here!" The crooks were getting away and this wasn't looking good at all. Paul was also worried about Sabella, so he hurried up where she was to see what was going on. When he got up there, he saw Sabella was already disarmed and restrained by Sabastian.

"Sabastian?! What are you doing?!" Paul called, but Sabastian just threw Sabella in his ship with him glaring at Paul. "Hold it!" He shot a line at him. It latched on to Sabastian, but Sabastian used it to spin around and pull Paul closer to him until Sabastian kicked him right in the head.

"Some protector you are." Sabastian said. He jumped in and flew off with him taking Sabella with him. Paul pulled himself together, but the ship was already long gone.

"Spider-Man!" Thomas called as he and Lindsay made it up there. "What just happened?"

"I sure did." Paul said. "Those weapons were Sable International, and Sabastian just came and took Sabella."

"What's going on? How did low ranking criminals get their hands on those weapons, and why is Sabastian back in town?" Lindsay questioned.

"I don't know, and I don't like it." Paul claimed. Something is going on in New York again, and it's not good at all.
