I DON'T OWN PHOENIX WRIGHT OR THE ACE ATTORNEY TRILOGY. ALL RIGHTS GO TO THE OWNERS. THIS IS JUST AN IDEA THAT CAME TO ME IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THIS MORNING!

I sat in my office, reading a newspaper relating to the latest trials that were going on where I lived. All of a sudden, I got quite a shock as I read the headline that was currently in front of me -

Up and coming defence lawyer Phoenix Wright trounces Winston Payne in his first ever trial!

"Phoenix Wright, aged 23, amazed everyone in the courtroom today as he easily managed to get a 'not guilty' verdict in one of the shortest trials ever! He participated in his first trial as he defended hotdog vendor and classmate Larry Butz, also aged 23. This shocked 'Rookie Killer' prosecutor Winston Payne, aged 49, who had a lot of experience in his profession."

I felt a shiver run through me as I gripped my newspaper even tighter on the table. Phoenix Wright? This couldn't be the Phoenix Wright that wrote to me continuously to try and get in contact with me, only to get his letters ignored... could it? I understood Larry getting arrested, but the fact that Phoenix Wright became a defence attorney only shocked me even more.

Suddenly, I heard a clatter as my office door opened quickly and before I knew it, Detective Gumshoe ran through the door, tripping over his feet slightly. As quickly as possible, I screwed up my newspaper and tried to push it out of sight.

"I wish you'd knock, Detective Gumshoe," I sighed, as the gangly detective in the large coat shut the door.

"I'm sorry, sir, but I've just come to tell you..." Gumshoe began, but he seemed to stop talking as his eyes fell on the paper. Unfortunately, I didn't push it out of sight quick enough. "What's that you've got there, sir? Oh, so that's what it is."

I clamped my lips together and sighed.

"I was there, you know, Mr Edgeworth," Gumshoe said. "We though our testimony was so detailed, and we had a pretty good idea of the defendant's motive, and after more or less every statement, he would just push back with an objection straight away!"

I put my head in my hands and groaned.

"You never know Mr Edgeworth," smiled Gumshoe. "Someday he might give you a run for your money!"

"I'm a prosecutor, Detective," I said bitterly. "Phoenix Wright is a defence attorney. I don't need to worry about anything like that."
