Ruby, cover that doorway!
Weiss, are you going to be long with that safe?
Yang, how's our exit looking?

Oh shit, here come more enforcers! Get ready for one hell of a push-back!

6 Months earlier.

"Happy birthday Blake!"

"Thanks Sun, but you really didn't have to give me anything." Blake replied as she took hold of the gift Sun had handed to her.

"Oh come on, it's nothing, just open it..."

She delicately undid the paper, seeing how much effort Sun took to wrap it.
Though after removing the lid to the box, her face was a mix of surprise and confusion, her brow furrowed until finally looking up at him.

"A gun? You know how much I don't like the idea of owning a firearm."

"I know, I know... but hear me out. I just wanted you to see how fun it is to go to a shooting range, get out some tension and feel the satisfaction of hitting a bullseye, plus we do a lot of things together.
Things that you like and things I like, I just wanted to add one more experience that I like and share it with you.
Plus the person who runs it is super awesome, you'd like her, also I have your other present there... so we have to go, or else you'll just miss out on your real gift.

"Oh alright, for you, I'll give it a try, but we're not going to make a habit of it." She relented after a few minutes contemplating.

"Good enough for me, now let's go."

"Okay, but just let me grab my gym bag and then we can go."

Once Blake had her things, she and Sun jumped into his white muscle car, as they hit the main road, the pair coasted along the city streets with the mid morning sun shining down on them.

"So did your parents call to wish you a happy birthday?" Sun glanced over to Blake to see how she would respond before focusing on his driving.

"Yeah, they did earlier this morning, seeing how I was doing, and whether or not we'd be doing something special today.
They also were wondering how everything else is..." She trailed off looking out the window, watching the buildings pass her by.

"Blake, they're just caring about you, I mean, turning twenty five and a year after graduating college with a bachelor's degree in marine biology... they just want to know if you're going good is all."

"Hmm, I guess you're right."
Blake finally said as she turned to look back at him.
She knew he was right and that her parents only meant well and wanted to be a part of her life. Admitting to herself that things may seem rough right now, she also knew that it was temporary, and they will get better, much like with starting college, it took some time to get used to it all.
And if it could be said about college, the same could be said after finishing it too.
Feeling better after reassuring herself, she spoke up with more enthusiasm.
"So what's the plan for today?
Go to the shooting range, then the gym, a trip to the movies afterwards?"

"Actually, I need to tell you something, but I wanted to make sure everything was alright with you and your parents... I got a job."

"You've got a job? That's great, where?"

"It's at this auto repair shop that Neptune works at.
He told me that his boss was looking for someone and well, he put in a good word for me.
And when I went for an 'interview', the boss told me that I was basically the first person she was going to see today, but after taking me out the back to show her what I could do she said she didn't need to see anyone else."

"And we're still talking about cars here?"
She asked, with one eyebrow raised with a mock stern expression, to which Sun turned bright red and appeared to shrink in his seat.

"I'm just messing with you."
Chuckling as she turned up the dial of the radio as one of her favourite songs came on the air.

'And I'll send you the love with me for you...'

"You know, the only reason I put up with that old British band is because you love them so much."

"I know, and I thank you for it."

Previous night

On board a large freighter.

"Hey you. Enjoying the sightseeing?"
He asked as he walked up to one of his passengers who he'd normally found as she was right now, standing on the upper deck leaning on the guardrail, watching the waves crash against the bow of the ship.

"Um, yes… to think we've been on this ship for a week or so and now we're within sight of the city."

"So what are you doing travelling this way, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Well you know how it is, parents were being annoying about getting work, so I decided to come all the way out here, see what life has to offer and start my own business."

"Of course you'll have no issue, being the famous Schnee and all."

"Well one can only imagine."

"Ah don't sweat it kid, you're entering a country with limitless potential, and a lot of gullible people willing to spend excess cash on a whole lotta nothing… you'll be good."

"..."

"Since this is the last chance we'll be seeing each other aboard this vessel, can I ask you something?"

She nodded in response.

"With all the luxuries and royalties you can get... Why did you choose to travel on a dingy old freighter?

The way I see it, you could have been here within a few days or even hours depending on if you swim or fly."

"I guess I wanted to experience what it would be like to see how the other half travel."

"No offence lady, but this is not how the other half travel."

"I know, I didn't mean it that way.
I guess, I guess what I'm trying to say is that this was my own decision, no one planned this ship ride for me, no one slipped money under the table to ensure I get on this ship, this was my choice and my choice alone..."

"Well alrighty then."
He paused before looking back at his guest.
"Since we're nearing port, how bout you choose to give us a hand?"

"Sure, just point me in the right direction."

"Right this way ma'am."

Another twenty or so minutes later, the freighter had finally come to rest at the dock, which immediately sprang into life, with workers manning cranes and the bellow of orders going back and forth between the foremen on the ship and on land.
After getting the last suitcase onto dry land and waving one last goodbye to those she had spent time on the sea with, she began scanning the area.
Say for those still working, there practically was no one else around.

"Where can she be? I told her that I'd be roughly here by this time, maybe she got the dates mixed up?"

Just as she said this, a black sedan came speeding along the docks, then skidded to a halt just a mere five metres from where she was standing.
Her eyes lit up instantly once she saw who opened the door and stepped out to greet her.

"Winter!"

"Weiss." Her older sister answered before receiving a warm hug as Weiss leapt into her open arms.

"So good to see you, you've grown up so fast."

"Are you alright, you seem a little more excited than usual?" The younger girl asked as she pulled away from the embrace slightly concerned.

"Why wouldn't I be happy to see my little sister, here, in the big city?
Hey you lot, this is my sister and she's here to stay."
She shouted while waving at the nearby workers before pointing to Weiss.
After which she turned to her and sighed with happiness.
"Now what do you say we get out of this filthy dock and get you home?"

"That would be nice."

As the last suitcase was placed in the back and the boot firmly shut, Winter looked down at her keys then slowly up to Weiss tilting her head sideways in the process.
"You eh, mind driving us back home?"

"Don't tell me you've been drinking?"

"Well let's put it this way, I'm glad there were no cops between home and here." She replied, before pulling out a can and sculling the entire contents before tossing it aside.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Trust me it's fine... you can drive right?"

"Of course, I have my licence, just not an international one."

"Oh don't worry about it, the cops here are total soft cocks-"

"Winter!"

"What- oh I see, afraid of me using the word soft cocks to describe the local law enforcement?"

"Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying."

Winter, visibly drunk, placed a hand on Weiss's shoulder, to the young sister's surprise appearing to sober up as she spoke.
"Weiss, this is your new home now, you don't have to obey mother or father out here, you can be your own person.
I've actually wanted you to come out here sooner…
but I'm glad you're here now."

"I'm glad too."

"Hey now, are we going to stand here in the open air or can I show you where I live, which I assure you is much nicer than out here?
Get in the driver's seat."

Weiss nodded and proceeded to walk around to the right side of the car, until Winter handed the keys and pointed to the other side, forgetting that the majority of countries drive on the right.
"It's a little unusual to drive here, but I'll get used to it, eventually."
She said once climbing into the drivers seat and turning the key in the ignition.

"That's the spirit, now just follow the road unless I tell you otherwise."

"Okay."

They cleared the dock and drove for several minutes in relative silence, say for when Winter would tell Weiss to turn left or right.
It had been nearly four or five years since she had seen her elder sister.
Though they had their chances to talk for hours on end at a time, there was something about conversing with someone in person that felt harder to initiate than simply working out what to say, writing it in a text and then sending it off, or planning to call and working out what to say beforehand.
Maybe it had been the shock of seeing how much Winter had changed, was it the foreign world she would soon integrate into, or could be the prospect that as her sister had said.

She was finally free.

Finally with her thoughts worked out she relaxed, and was able to think of a few things that came to mind during the talks they had.
"So how's work, you're still at that military base?"

"Yep, I've been made colonel.
And speaking of work, how's things for the arrangements with the store?"

"I'll be taking a trip tomorrow to check it out, the stock itself won't arrive until sometime in the afternoon or the day after."

The rest of the journey was no issue both for the lack of traffic on the streets as well as Winter recounting some of the more interesting aspects of her job and the colleagues she worked alongside.
Another ten or so minutes, they had reached their destination, a medium-sized apartment building.

"Okay now we're here."
Winter declared once they had finished unloading the last of Weiss' things into the room.
"There's leftovers in the fridge, takeaway menus in the drawer and TV's over there."

"You're not going to bed?"

"No, I have work in half an hour and I won't be back until tomorrow evening.
So here's a spare key.
Tomorrow go out and explore the city after you've sorted out the store, but be careful, there can be a couple scumbags so watch out…
there's a thirty two revolver in my study drawer, so maybe grab it and some ammo before heading out."

"Have a good night sleep sis... "
Winter said while opening the door to then head back down to her car, but before shutting it behind her, she left it ajar as she poked her head back in.
"Oh, and Weiss."

"Yes?"

"It's good to see you home."

"Thanks Winter."

And it's good to be home. Thank you for letting me stay here.
She thought to herself as she looked at the now closed door before going to the bathroom to shower, brush her teeth then climb into bed.

A/N:

Well I have finally decided to write this story up after sitting on the idea for a LONG while, thank you kind reader for taking the time to browse this story of mine, I hope you liked it.
I have noticed there are quite a lot fics that feature Blake, and I wanted this story to be (mostly) Blake centric.
As I said in the description, this fic has taken liberties of a few games, Weiss' section takes influence from a very distinct game's opening sequence, but I won't specify which game, though I think most will catch on quickly.

Now I will put this disclaimer here, I might add it to the beginning of each chapter if need be but hopefully once should be sufficient:

I am not an American (since technically this AU is set in what could be called America) and so what I write about may not reflect accurately about how things work, for example right hand driving, my understanding of how things work over there are based on movies, TV series, games and the occasional youtube video... if there are inaccuracies I apologise in advance.
This is a work of fiction and just some fun I want to have with RWBY in this AU setting.

With that out of the way, again, thank you kind reader for finding, and reading my story.
Will try to do a weekly update, but have another fic in the works (check it out as I've spent most of my time on this current fic for a while but am going to return to it once I have written enough that I think will suffice, or when I lose traction on this one).

See you next time.
