Sitting in his at home office looking over his emails, Inuyasha sighed, leaned back in his computer chair and stretched giving out a big tongue curling yawn as he arched his back hearing a satisfying pop, then pushed himself out of his chair and started his hour lunch of instant ramen and some television time.
Flipping on the television and popping a bowl of uncooked ramen and water in the microwave, he leaned a hip against the counter and fished his phone out of his pocket to see if he had any messages and whatnot. Not seeing anything he sighed and put his phone back in his pocket and made him a glass of Pepsi with some ice. Once the timer on the microwave went off, he drained the water off the noodles and poured the seasoning pack in with a small bit of butter he mixed his lunch together as he walked back towards the living room and plopped down on the couch.
Taking his phone out of his pocket once more, swiping to unlock his screen to bring up his Amazon account just to check and see where all his orders were at that point - they should be showing up any day now. Christmas was a few weeks away and he was waiting on a few more items to come in the mail. Since it was payday for him, after work today he was going to a jewelry store to get an engagement ring for his girlfriend of five years - not that he wanted to, mind you, he had to or else it would be hell to pay. She had made that crystal clear at the beginning of the year that if she didn't have a ring on her finger by the end of this year then he'd be sorry.
He didn't want to be with her anymore, but she had broken down his confidence and his self-worth and he didn't know how to fucking get out of this without everything going to shit and he absolutely hated being fucking stuck in the shit show he called his life. However, even if he got out, he'd be forever alone because he was just a worthless half breed and it had been thrown in his face more times than he was willing to admit but he started to fucking believe it. Every time he had tried to leave the toxic environment his girlfriend would turn on the waterworks and apologize and beg him to stay and when he caved in, and she knew he would stay it'd start all over again by her saying that no one would want to be with him because of his heritage and he should be so lucky that she'd stoop so low as to be with someone like him when she could have a full demon or even a full human.
Sighing once again, Inuyasha stood up and turned the television off before walking into the kitchen to wash his bowl and put it back in the cabinet then took a quick bathroom break before he walked back into his office to start on the paperwork he needed to finish before eight tonight. Looking at the clock on his desk seeing that it was just passed two in the afternoon. Knowing from experience that he'd be able to get all the paperwork done in five hours he went to work blocking out all the city noise happening outside so he could focus.
Five in a half hours later found Inuyasha rechecking all the paperwork making sure he didn't make any mistakes or miss anything that needed to be filled out, satisfied with his work he submitted the paperwork to the main office before checking his email on last time then powering down his computer then standing up and stretching to relieve his sore muscles before heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower before his girlfriend came home from her job. She wanted to go to an expensive restaurant tonight and he was expected to fork out the money to pay for it which he knew already was going to be well over five hundred dollars just for the two of them. She expected the best: the finest wine, food, clothes, shoes, jewelry and whatever the hell else she wanted and if Inuyasha didn't deliver the best for her then she'd absolutely lost her shit. Though, she made sure that she waited until she got home to throw her temper tantrum because she didn't want anyone else knowing how she treated him making sure that she treated him like an absoulte king while in public, making sure her family, friends or whoever they were around at the time see that they were just the perfect couple, but when the door closed, she showed her true colors. He surmised that she did it that way so if things were to come to an end and he finally had enough, then he'd be the crazy bad guy that started a fight for absolutely no reason.
Stepping out of the shower, sighing as he dried off - after years of dealing with the name calling, the down grading, the throwing things to hit him and the mental torture that his girlfriend put him through Inuyasha was, unfortunately, used to it all and didn't that just make him feel fucking worse! Getting dressed he walked out of the bathroom and into the kitchen, checking the time on his phone he saw it was ten minutes till nine which meant that in ten minutes Yuka, his girlfriend for five years, will be two hours late in coming home.
Inuyasha wasn't stupid, he knew that she didn't get caught up at work, which always was her excuse for being late, his nose told him differently - he could smell another man's scent and the scent of arousal and sex all over her. Whenever he brought that little information up, however, she flipped her lid, screamed, threw heavy shit at him and denied ever sleeping with someone else saying that she had just got caught up at work at that was the end of that discussion. He learned to just deal with it because no matter what he said or did it didn't matter, it never changed anything she continued to sleep with other men - his feelings didn't matter. She was right anyway; he should count his lucky stars that she even wanted to be with someone like him, he knew deep down that no other woman would want to be with him. So, even though it was hard, he accepted his spot in life.
So, with that in mind, Inuyasha put his coat on and grabbed his keys and shuffled out of the door. About twenty minutes later he arrived at the jewelry store that he knew to be his girlfriend's favorite he shut his car off and walked inside. Remembering the way she lovingly clung to him while they were here about a month ago, while people were around of course, looking over the rings in the display case and picking out her absolute favorite one. Then once they were back in the safety of Inuyasha's car she turned back into her cold self and acted like she was disgusted by the fact that she even touched him, getting out her hand sanitizer out of her purse and scrubbing her hands raw with a disgusted look on her face.
Sighing the memory away he walked up to the display case that held the ring and made quick work of telling the salesman which one he wanted, paid for it and walked back out the door.
Pulling back up at the house he stepped out and realized that his girlfriend was still not home, so he walked inside hid the ring and sat at the kitchen table until Yuka came home.
Hearing the front door open and close about ten minutes later, Inuyasha sighed for what seemed like the thousandth time that day. He stood up from the chair he was sitting on and watched as Yuka came into the kitchen, wrinkling up his nose trying desperately to block the scent of another man that was wafting from her body. Holding down the growl that was building deep in his chest, but just barely, he watched as she threw her purse and her coat on the table before walking past him without even a word of greeting. She walked into the bathroom, and he heard the shower turning on as he sat down at the kitchen table again while he waited for her to finish.
His ear swiveled towards the bathroom when he heard the shower turning off and waiting another thirty minutes, Yuka finally walked out of the bathroom ready to go out to eat.
Standing up and turning to watch Yuka walk out of the bathroom in the middle of putting an earring in her ear. "Did you have a good day at work?" Inuyasha asked, his voice a little harder than what he meant for it to be.
Pausing walking and putting her earring in her ear, Yuka looked up with hardened eyes and tight lips. "Yes, now let's go." She said as she walked past him to put her coat back on and grab her purse before walking out the door with Inuyasha following.
Having had enough of the shit and really just wanting to be done with everything, as they walked outside Inuyasha was feeling particularly fed-up with the shit he could keep his thoughts to himself at that moment, feeling in a type of mood and ready for a fight he took a deep breath - and the anger just came out.
"Why do you even come back when your obviously happy with someone else?" Inuyasha growled out, his hands balling up into fists so tight that his claws pierced the palms of his hands.
Freezing with her hand on the car's door handle, Yuka slowly turned to glare at Inuyasha. "You wanna repeat that?" She whispered with venom seeping past her lips.
"I said, why do you even come back-"
"I heard what you fucking said!" Yuka screamed interrupting Inuyasha. "I just wanted to see if you were stupid enough to fucking repeat it!" She yelled as she took her hand off the car and started walking around it toward Inuyasha, stopping a few feet away from him by a pile of bricks that she was planning on using as a fence type thing for a garden that she was planning to do while it was warm outside but didn't have the time to deal with it. "How dare you say that to me? How dare you question my intention? I've already told you that I haven't been cheating on you! I don't know how many times I have to tell you that I love you and want to be with you!"
Inuyasha could gag on how thick the scent of deceit that was wafting off of her. "Yeah, I just bet you fucking do. Did you fucking forget that I have a super sensitive nose!? I can smell the men on you, the scent of arousal and sex, when you come through the door! Hell, I even smelt it on you tonight before you took a shower! I can smell you you're lying; I know you don't really love me! So, why don't you just let me go? Because, quite frankly, I'm done with the mental beat down! I'm done with being your fucking doormat that you just walk all over! I'm done with being your target when you start throwing shit!"
"Oh, you're done, are you? Where are you going to go, Inuyasha? Who are you going to tell?" Yuka asked in a mocking tone. "You know no one will believe you!"
"I'd rather be homeless with no one than to put up with your shit any longer." Inuyasha snarled, seeing that Yuka was picking up a brick he turned and went back inside, closing the door and locking it right as a bang sounded at the door. "Just fucking stop, Yuka! Leave me alone!" He yelled through the door.
"Inuyasha, baby, I'm sorry! Please open the door so we can talk." Yuka said in, what Inuyasha knew was her fake sweet voice and he wasn't buying it this time.
"No! Go away, Yuka!" Inuyasha yelled with hardened resolve.
Not being prepared for when Yuka kicked the door in, Inuyasha didn't react fast enough to dodge the door and it hit him hard in the head - knocking him off his feet and onto the floor. Having had enough of this, he yanked his phone out of his pocket, while still laying on the floor, and started dialing 911.
Laughing out of pure enjoyment, Yuka came up beside him - standing over him. "Go ahead, Inuyasha, call them and tell them how a small girl beat you up. Tell the world for all I care because no one will believe you! And if you call them just know that I'll tell them that you attacked first, and I was just defending myself - you'll be the one ending up in jail, not me!"
Growling under his breath, Inuyasha exited out of the call and powered down his phone before getting up off the floor.
"Hmm, that's what I thought." Yuka said with a fake smile. "Now, let's go and get something to eat!" She said as she turned around and walked back to the car. Rolling his eyes and feeling completely helpless, Inuyasha followed suit and got into the car after Yuka.

"I can't explain it, Sango, I just feel like something is going to happen tonight, something bad and I feel like I'm supposed to do something about it." Kagome said as Sango and her clocked back in after their last break for the day, they only had a few more hours before the end of their shifts at the five-star restaurant that they worked at.
"We only have a few more hours left, what could happen in that amount of time?" Sango asked as they walked into the dining area and got to work getting their tables cleaned off and collecting the tips that were left behind.
"Yeah, you're right - but still I can't seem to shake this feeling." Kagome said as she watched more people walking in for their dinner reservations and walked over to the first people that were seated to get their drink orders then walking to two more tables to grab their drink orders as well before walking towards the bar.
"Hey, Miroku, how's your night going?" Kagome asked as she handed Miroku the slips of paper with the drink orders written down.
"It's going great, my dear Kagome, how about yours?" Miroku answered as he took the slips of paper to study them before making the drinks.
"She has this feeling that something bad is going to happen tonight, but she doesn't know what it is only that she's supposed to help in some way." Sango butted in laying her own sheets of drink orders down on the bar.
"Ah, a feeling, I get those all the time - could you help me with mine my darling Sango?" Miroku asked wiggling his eyebrows suggestively as he placed Kagome's drink orders down in front of her on a tray.
"Stop being such a perv and make my drinks." Sango demanded as Kagome chuckled and walked away to distribute the drinks to their rightful tables before taking their food orders then going to several more tables to get their drink orders. Giving the drink orders to Miroku before disappearing into the kitchen to give the food orders to the cook.
The rest of the night passed by without any incidents and Kagome clocked out, followed by Sango and Miroku, then headed out the door. It was 11:30, the restaurant closed at 11:00 but they had to stay behind to clean up the dining area and bar before they could clock out. Walking out in the cold brisk air, Kagome and the others tried to pull their coats closer to their bodies to preserve their body heat. However, they stopped walking as they heard a woman shouting at the top of her lungs.
"I cannot believe you fucking made us miss our reservation! How stupid can you fucking be!?"
Kagome and the others looked over to find a woman with very short black hair and a man with long silver hair and what looked like to be a pair of dog ears on top of his head.
The man didn't say anything only looking off to the side and sticking his hands in his jacket pockets.
"Do you have anything to say for yourself!?" The woman screamed obviously not liking the way the man had turned away from her.
Kagome stopped peering over at the couple feeling this odd pull in their direction, she didn't know what was going on so she forced her feet to stay planted where they were until the need should arise for her to take action. Her chocolate orbs met burning golden eyes and watched as they slightly widen before looking away.
"How could you be so careless, ugh! What did I really expect from a worthless half breed such as you!?" The woman continued to scream, not realizing that they had a small group of people taking notice to their little tiff.
"Kagome," Sango whispered, "let's go." She tried to pull Kagome away by the crook of her elbow.
"Hold on." Kagome said as she gently jerked her elbow free. It really made her blood boil the way this woman was treating what seemed to be her boyfriend - and calling him a worthless half breed? How dare her!? But what really pushed Kagome over the edge and made her stomp her way over to the couple was when the woman threw her purse at the man's face, and since he wasn't looking at her, he didn't have enough time to dodge it and it hit him in the side of the face.
"Are you too stupid to answer me!?" The woman screeched.
"Are you too stupid to realize that he's a living being, and you shouldn't be treating him like that!? And how dare you try and put this man down just because of his heritage!? What the fuck is wrong with you!?" Kagome fired back at the woman making the golden eyed man stare at her in surprised shock.
The woman slowly turned to glare at Kagome. "Who the fuck are you!?"
"My name is none of your concern, however, I cannot just stand by and watch you degrade this man over nothing." Kagome answered.
"Ugh, whatever!" The woman shouted looking away from Kagome back toward Inuyasha. "Pick my shit up from the ground and put it back in my purse then take me somewhere else nice to eat!"
Kagome's heart sank as she watched the man kneel down to start picking her stuff off the ground, she walked over to him and grabbed him by his elbow pulling him back up in a standing position. "No!" She yelled staring at Yuka with fire in her eyes. "How about you pick your own shit up off the ground and get to stepping!"
"This is none of your fucking business, girl, now leave!" Yuka screamed at Kagome.
"Seeing someone being abused is and always will by my business! Now, you better leave before I call the fucking cops!" Kagome screamed right back.
Yuka barked out a laugh. "No one will believe you or him!"
"I don't know!" Kagome shouted back taking a step closer to Yuka, hovering only inches away from her face. "I've been told that I talk the good talk, I've already helped put plenty of assholes like you behind bars for doing the same thing you're doing right now! You see people like you get comfortable in thinking you can get away with this shit, so you start to let your guard down and start showing your true colors more and more in the public light. And if I can't convince them to put your ass behind bars, where you fucking belong, the cameras will." Kagome said as she nodded her head towards the cameras.
Yuka's eyes flickered towards the cameras before flicking back to look at Kagome. "You wouldn't dare."
"Try me." Kagome challenged stepping even closer.
Yuka scoffed but knelt down to pick her things up off the ground before stalking off towards her car without another word.
Letting out breathes that they didn't know they were holding, Sango and Miroku made their way towards Kagome and the man who stood gawking at Kagome. They were used to this, hell they have even done it a time or two - however, Kagome was a natural at it, so they always kept their distance keeping a close eye on the situation should a need arise for them to jump in, though, that hardly ever happened. Kagome was a boss at this type of thing, and she - more times than not - came out the victor.
"That was amazing Kagome!" Sango said as she stopped just by Kagome's side. Kagome, however, didn't pay Sango any mind for she was too busy staring back at the man she had just saved.
"Um," Kagome cleared her throat and with a small blush painting her face she looked away for a split second before looking back. "My name is Kagome, what's yours?"
Looking slightly uncomfortable, the man looked away before mumbling "Inuyasha."
"Inuyasha. This is Sango and Miroku" Kagome introduced with a big bright smile and a tilt of her head that made Inuyasha blush bright red. "Do you have anywhere to go?"
Inuyasha didn't say anything, but he did shake his head no.
"Okay, well if you're okay with it, you can stay in my guest room until you get back on your feet. Come on, let's go get out of this cold." Kagome said heading to what Inuyasha suspected was where her car was.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" Inuyasha whispered out, really not understanding this woman in front of him. "Don't you know I'm a worthless half breed?"
Kagome sighed and stopped walking, turning around to look Inuyasha in the eyes. "Inuyasha I really don't mind you being a half demon, or if you were green, blue, pink or blue. If you were all demon or all human it wouldn't make any difference to me, because you are you and that's all I care about. Now, in the morning we can go to the police station to file a report and get a restraining order against her if you would like, but right now let's go and get a good night's sleep."
Shaking his head in slight disbelieve, Inuyasha followed after the woman not knowing then that Kagome was about to change his world forever and make his life so much more than what he ever imagined it would be.
