Just so you're aware, this story takes place during Sora, Riku and Kairi's childhoods - so please picture them as little kids while reading this. Thanks. ;)

Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts.

Snowflakes were falling silently from the moonlight night sky. They settled on the trees and the sand of the beach. The entirety of the smaller island was very different to how it usually was during the rest of the year. Being covered in a thick blanket of white made it look very festive - much to the delight of the three small children who were out there that evening. They were bundled up in winter jackets and bobble hats as they observed the sight of the place where they often played being covered in snow.

"Yay! Snow!" Sora exclaimed excitedly. "We're definitely gonna have a white Christmas this year!"

"The snow looks so pretty!" Kairi said softly.

"Yeah, but it feels so cold!" Riku shivered. "I'll be glad to go home to some nice hot cocoa - with plenty of marshmallows!"

The two younger children paid no attention to the cynical attitude of their older friend. They were both in good spirits about the happy time of the year which was approaching.

"I'm so excited for Christmas!" Kairi said in a sweet, bubbly tone.

"So am I!" Sora agreed brightly. "I wonder what presents Santa Claus is gonna bring us this year!"

"Don't tell me you two kids believe in that Santa Claus nonsense!"

"What?!" Sora cried, turning with wide eyes to fix them onto Riku, his face filling with m shock over the remark the silver-haired boy had made.

"What are you saying, Riku?" Kairi asked innocently.

"I'm saying Santa Claus isn't real!" Riku answered bluntly.

"Santa's not real?!" Sora exploded, his high-pitched voice filling the entire island. "Of course he's real, Riku!"

"Don't be silly, Sora!" Riku sneered. "That Santa Claus stuff is for kids!"

Sora made a face. "We are kids, Riku!"

"You two are, maybe. But I'm the grown-up here! And I know there ain't no Santa Claus."

"But, Riku, if there's no Santa Claus," Kairi murmured. "Who leaves the presents to all the good boys and girls?!"

"Who do you think it is, Kairi?! Why else do all the kids get told they have to be good to get presents?! It's the Moms and Dads who leaves presents, not some fat guy who flies around in a stupid sleigh-"

"You take that back, Riku!" Sora roared, slinging angrier than he had ever sounded in his entire life. "I swear, Riku, you'd better take that back!"

"Take back the truth?" Riku folded his arms, smirking at the spiky-haired boy. "I guess I should for your sake, Sora, since you're two young to accept it."

Sora could bear this no longer. The brunette suddenly drew out his wooden sword. With a yell, he lunged at Riku, attempting to strike him on the head - only for the silver-haired boy to block his blow with his own toy weapon.

"Guys, don't fight!" Kairi squeaked. "Santa's watching you!"

"I'm telling you, Kairi!" Riku insisted as he tried to hold Sora off. "Santa isn't real!"

"Yes, he is!" Sora argued. "And he's gonna be proud of me and give more so many presents this year - when I beat you down right now, Riku!"

The two young rivals proceeded to duel, their wooden swords whacking against one another. Kairi could only watch with wide blue eyes before getting up and heading off, leaving the pair of small boys to have their little tiff.

"Just walk away, Kairi! Leave those boys to be naughty while you be a good girl," she told herself before gazing up at the moon in the sky. "Santa, I know for sure you are real, so please will you grant my Christmas wish for this year - by making me into a princess?"
